I just reviewed mine and found that my serial number (IMEI) was only displaying the first 14 characters. I was able to update and save the full 15 so it is good now.

For my info, I have my name, my google voice number, and an email address.I previously had an app to do this, but with ICS I no longer need it. I mention this feature because of something that happened to me this weekend. I have an Android ICS tablet on which I've also entered the owner info. I left it in a public place this past weekend. Before I had even gotten back to my hotel, I had received emails and phone calls from the person who found the tablet, turned it on, and used the Owner Info to contact me.Saved me at least $300 it would have taken to replace it. Which wasn't the worst thing - I had taken the memory card out of my camera and put it in the tablet. I would have been extremely upset at losing of days worth of very important photos that could have never been replaced.

View 12 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the posts here about assigning a different texting app rather than using VZWs stock texting app, I decided to try it. I disabled the stock app, which DID remove it from the lock screen. It left a blank space. When I dragged down toward it, it opened the camera app instead.
I noticed in Manage Apps> App Info that there is a selection called Launch by Default/No defaults set, and a button marked Clear Defaults. This section is grayed out in every single app in manage apps; how to enable it? I'd like to disable VZW text messaging, and enable Google Talk in its place.
Secondly - after the ICS update, I now have multiple references to the same apps in Manage Apps>All Apps. There are three separate references for Backup Assistant Plus, and two for Google Maps. Looking at App Info, some are the old versions (pre ICS) and some are the new ones (post ICS). Is there a way to delete the old references and clean things up a tad?

It seems that firmware "leaks" and posts from Devs on XDA are the only way of getting any information as there's precious little official information coming from Moto itself.I know a lot of people are eagerly awaiting ICS, but in the meantime its frustrating to know that Moto ARE working on updated (Gingerbread) firmware for the Razr given the fact that the leaked files DO exist.. many people, myself included, however.. are reluctant to flash leaked firmware even if it does appear to be very stable (from what I've read), and would rather wait for something "official" from Moto...The last "official" EN.EU firmware released was gratefully received late December with very little notification (651.73.30 I believe), but as I'm sure many of you have read there's also a 651.167.20 firmware floating around.. again, with a complete info blackout from Moto to their customers that there's even anything going on..
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have read the discussions on the screen glare on the xoom and do not find the answer to my question. I was told by sales person to install the Zagg Screen protectant. I did so and what a mess, so I took it back to Best Buy and they replaced it and installed it for another $15. I went outside to take some pictures of a quail and her 15 babies and could seen nothing on the screen. Tried different ways. Then I thought about doing work or play with my Xoom outside on the deck and that was a lost cause too.
What can I do to get rid of the glare on the Xoom screen with the Zagg installed? Can I put something over the Zagg? It was not cheap and I paid to have it installed.The person who answered my question I though was just making a joke. I tried full brightness of the screen and my sunglasses. IT WORKED> Kind of dark but good enough to see what I was taking a picture of I need to find the name of the last reply because that was the one with the answer that worked.
How do you change the menu options? And by menu, I mean when you use the drop down notification bar and tap the icon in the upper right. On mine, I have "Owner", Brightness, Settings, etc. I'd really like be able to silence my phone from this menu. There are more spaces, so I feel like I should be able to change what's on there. And also, how do I set myself as the owner?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo they finally added the ability to share info about the current song you're listening to with friends, however when it comes up with the content of what to send it says "Me recommends <song name> by <artist name>", and continues on with the link to info, etc. Where is it picking up the "Me"? Obviously I have to tell the system who I am somewhere, but haven't found any option inside the Music player nor in the Contacts to specify one of them as my own contact.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a number of audio books that I loaded onto my SD card. I inserted the card into my RAZR Maxx HD and some of the books show the Artist and Book titles as "unknown".
I keep these files in a portable hard drive so when I look at them on my PC I have a folder with the Author's name and the book name. Inside the folder I have "Track 1", "Track 2" etc.
I just loaded 10 of these books (folders) and 4 of them show up in the "Play Music" app with "Unknown Album" and "Unknown Artist".
If I plug my phone into my PC I see all the folders with their author name and book title. I imagine that the app is looking at some information that is in the actual file to display the author and book title. Is there a way to get it to display the file names that folders actually have? If not is there a way that I can edit the "Unknown" fields?
The picture shows the files on my phone displayed on my PC and displyed on my Phone. Notice that all the folders have names on the PC but not on the phone.
from last week social client & nokia blogs not working. Facebook / Twitter / Conversations / Blog etc... are not opening. Get a blank white screen with only option to exit. Surprisingly the social widget is getting updated with posts from both Facebook & Twitter! But if i click to open then its the same issue...

If it wasn't for the site saying look at the video below I wouldn't even know that one exists. I can't see why the videos won't show as generally they are you tube videos anyway.

I have a Mid-2009 MacBook Pro 15" and am having issues using the images taken from my iPhone 4S and using them on blogs and/or threads. When I want to upload an image for my "profile picture" for instance, I continually get an "unable to upload error" from the website.I have tried several different websites and I continue to receive these messages with any image originally taken with my 4S. When I upload an image from iPhoto that was captured from my digital camera, the same website(s) have no problems uploading the image(s). It appears that any image I capture using my iPhone 4S, I can't seem to upload on any website EXCEPT for Facebook. For whatever reason, I keep getting "rejection" from all the blogs and threads I belong to.

I just got an update message for update 4.2. something.. I didnt record the full update number/version.I gave the ok to download and install after reading the warning that it might take up to 7 minutes to complete.It has locked with the red dot "M" logo for 30 minutes.What should I do now? Holding the power button does not turn it off , no buttons get any response. I am about to pull the battery and restart but I fear I might cobble up the update and cause more harm.

I have an R2D2 Droid 2 that I (foolishly) flashed over to the standard Droid 2 system version, in order to run the Gingerbread build for it that came out a couple weeks ago. At the time, I was convinced that the R2 would not be getting a GB build, so I jumped the gun.
Now that the official R2 GB has been released, I would really like to get back to stock. It's kind of the whole reason I bought this phone instead of a regular Droid 2. Unfortunately, along the way I've managed to lose my stock image for the R2, and AFAIK there has never been an SBF released for the R2.
I've been trying for at least a month to come up with a solution to this problem, have scoured the internet (and noticed a lot of people that have had the same problem), and have pretty much run out of ideas at this point. I also know that rooting and flashing aren't necessarily condoned by Motorola in general, but does anyone have any other ideas on how I could get back to stock R2, Froyo or GB, at this point?

View 15 Replies View RelatedThe update has made the wi-fi next to unusable. I have removed the Wi-Fi connection and re-entered it. Power cycled the phone, done a battery pull. Nothing fixes the issue. Try running a speed test it either fails consistently with "network communication failure" or the bandwidth is horrendous. I never had such issues before the update. The issue is not only at home even at work. I was wondering if others were seeing such abysmal performance. I have NEVER rooted my phone. I wish I had and switched to community ROM, they seem to be doing a better job than a corporation like Motorola. I just wish Motorola never updated this phone, every update has caused the phones performance to deteriorate. The Droid X could have been a worthy successor to the Droid but Motorola just screwed it up. I have been a loyal motorola and verizon customer for close to 10 years now. When my contract gets done one thing is for certain I will never ever be buying another Motorola device nor will I ever recommend a Motorola device ever again. Anyone else with this issue Perhaps my battery is failing and in need of replacement, but quite coincidental that same day as the update.
