Motorola Droid X :: Constant Booting Loop?

Jul 31, 2011

after doing the system update tonight my droid x won't stop rebooting. i can't even get into the settings long enough to try to do a factory reset or anything. i can unlock the phone and then about 5 seconds later it goes back to the droid message then the red eye then the lock screen... over and over and over. I tried to get in on safe mode- got in and then it did the exact same thing. Has this happened to anyone else and is there any way to fix it. I even tried my friends battery to see if that was the problem- NOT.

Motorola Droid X :: Constant Sync Next To 3G Logo?

Jun 30, 2011

I've had my phone since January. Its always super slow and the battery is super bad. Also, at times it just turns off and acts up. But my main concern here the constant sync sign that I get next to the 3G logo. What does it mean and how do I get it out? And... is there a reason why my 3G and antenna bar are colored white at times and blue at other times?

However, within this past week the phone has started freezing... I'll be using it and then suddenly the screen freezes and sits there and reboots itself. It does this a few times a day....

Motorola Droid 3 :: Task Manager Reporting Constant 25% CPU Usage?

Jul 23, 2011

There is an option in the task manager under its settings to show system apps. When you do it will show that the Android system is running at 25% of the CPU. You can refresh this and it will remain the same.

I'm curious, is that because it is taking a snapshot of what the CPU is doing right at that moment (which would be refreshing the Task Manager list) or is Android really constantly gobbling up 25% of the CPU? Seems high if it's the latter...

IPhone :: Respring Loop - Cant Break The Loop

Mar 13, 2010

Im in an endless respring loop and cannot break out of it. i have tried everything i know... details below

(3gs on 3.1.2, new baseband, with 3.1.3 backed up on cydia...and im running windows XP)

here is what happend:

--tried to set file permissions for the calender app bc it was not letting me add new apointments after SSHing the file from another phone

--used ifile to 1st: private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar (i went one step further) as far as i could go before an edit, then clicked the blue arrow and while the permissions was root, i noticed that it set to read and write only. so i changed this to RWE.

--went back to calendar tried to add a new apt -- no go, didnt work

--back to ifile 2nd: private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar (one step less than the first time) clicked the blue arrow and saw that permissions was mobile. so i changed that to root.

--closed ifile opened SBsettings, and clicked respring. i thought maybe this would cause the changes to take effect. i hit respring three times before it respnded... then it resprung to the sad iphone

--from the sad iphone it has been caught in the respring loop. it goes from the sad iphone to my normal lock screen (i dont run any lockscreen apps).

here is what i have done so far:

--i replaced the Calendar.sqlitedb file with the old (presumably good) file from the old phone via SSH. this seemed to help a little in that now i was able to slide the slider but still, nothing, just back to the loop.

--i attempted to restore from backup in itunes. after about 10 minutes, nothing was happening; the phone continued to loop and itunes seemed to make no progress. so i disconnected the wire.

--i held down the home and sleep buttons until the phone powered down. holding down just the sleep/power button only caused the screen to dim, but the loop continued.

--once the power was off, i turned it back on and ran blackra1n from recovery mode. phone returned to loop.

--powered down again, same method and once in recovery mode, connected to itunes. itunes said it had to restore before it could do anything. i disconnected...

--ran blackra1n again, and once more while back in the loop, and still nothing. but now when i slide, i am seeing the error message about mobile substrate, however, it does not fully appear in that the phone starts to respring before anything can happen. i have been sliding the slider and each time the screen stops at a different level, meaning that i can see the icon animation but the respring stops it at various points. while writing this, i got a text message. it displayed, and then disappeared on the next respring.

Should i do a full hard reset, should i delete stuff via SSH, DFU, i dont know, but it seems like the phone is still intact enough not to need a full restore (which would = re-jailed...).

I did go into settings to try and change the notification led but nothing is working. I've noticed that the red light will not shut off when powering down the phone. After removing the battery the red light will go away but as soon as the battery is back in the phone the light appears again..even when the phone is off. Motorola Xoom :: 3G Constant Disconnects When Used As Hotspot?

May 10, 2011

A similar issue has been brought up before in the forum, but not quite the same issue I am having... I have seen it discussed at length on the Droid X orums, no resolution... so, maybe some of you know some tricks to get the 3G connection stable when using the Xoom as an mobile hotspot...I originally had a 3G MiFi device, that worked great for about 6 months... after which time, it would drop its connection if there was moderate usage by any more than just one connected device... and that has been well documented on Verizon forums, although they had no solution for it.

I had this device because regular high speed connections are not available at my house, and I'm less than a mile from a Verizon tower, in a low density population area... when connected I usually have over a 2Mb connection, and great signal... not bad for being on cellular...So, all that being said, when the Xoom came out, and I saw that hotspot was available at no extra charge, I jumped at it... a great new tablet to use, and, what I thought would be, a hotspot that no longer lost connection, unfortunately that was not the case, and I think connection issues are worse now with the Xoom, than they ever were with the MiFi.If I enable the hotspot, have only one computer connected to it, and only browse 1 tab at a time, while not downloading or doing anything else internet related, the connection holds up just fine... yesterday my wife got a new laptop, and I was able to run all updates, and get all her software downloaded and installed without issue, and that was over 600MB of data, at least, but, while doing the downloads, I made sure that I did nothing else on the internet.

When I finished, my wife started surfing the internet... both of us use tabbed browsing quite a bit... but she had only opened maybe 3 tabs, and at that point the 3G symbol on the xoom went away, after a couple seconds came back, that after a couple seconds went away again... and this repeated over and over until I reset the xoom. Then the Xoom was fine for maybe 10 minutes, before it started doing it again. And, this happens regardless of what device is connected. After trying numerous things from the Droid X forums about this issue, and discovering that none of them work, I thought, well... maybe the tower has issues... so I brought it to work today... same issue, I opened and opened about 10 tabs from there, just various news stories that I wanted to read about... and it was fine at first, but, after looking at a couple stories, I decide to visit this forum as well, but when I tried, I could not... so I looked at my Xoom and saw that the 3G icon was going away and coming back again, just like before.

Motorola Photon 4G :: Constant Bluetooth Stereo Audio Stuttering

Oct 26, 2011

My Photon must be having Apple envy and has decided to refuse to cooperate. Unlocking can still be an occasional two minute ordeal with many whispered metaphorical condemnations of it's heritage and habits. However, my main complaint is the bluetooth audio stutter I hear on a stereo headset.

I have no problems pairing and listinening to audio on a set of bluetooth stereo headphones via my MacBookPro (or my friend's iPhone), but the Photon makes me want to kick something very hard and repeatedly. The audio stutter-pop every 1/3 second (approximatly) is beyond frustrating.

The only thing that reduces the stuttering is if I hold the phone within 3 inches (yes, 3"!) of the headset. Oddly, my mono canal-style headset has a range of about 36 feet. Both of the headsets are less than two months old, and I know that the stereo headset is up to version 3.x of the bluetooth spec. (the Photon is using bluetooth v. 2.1).

Motorola Defy :: Stuck In Reboot Loop?

Jul 27, 2011

Today I noticed my Defy screen was black, and it wasn't responding to power button presses, so I took the battery out and rebooted it. A few hours later it was black screen again, and I tried the same proceedure but watched it. Maybe 10 seconds after it finished booting, it rebooted and then gets stuck in a sequence of showing motorola logo and rebooting over and over. I've tried removing the battery again and it will boot once, then immediately reboot and get stuck in loop again.I have tried the following and the same result every time:boot w/o simboot w/o sdboot w/o sd or simboot with better signalI cannot do factory data reset as I do not have enough time before first reboot to get to it. Attempting to start any app before the first reboot just returns to the menu screen.

I attempted to do 'hard reset' as per these instructions: ttp:// after motorola screen I get a warning icon with a droid similar to this image but without the menu. Attempting to tap anypart of the screen or press any button did not change this screen:ttp:// phone has been running mostly okay for the 6 months or so that I have owned it. I say mostly because I upgraded to Froyo 2 months ago, and it was behaving badly (lagging badly) until factory data reset a month ago.

Motorola Backflip :: Reboot Loop Discovery?

Feb 4, 2012

I purchased a used Backflip and almost immediately started having the re-boot issue, which I since have learned is very well documented. Next time I'll research the forums b4 buying! My Backflip would spontaneously re-boot and then get caught in a constant cycle by rebooting less than 1 minute after my home screen (finally) appears. It never seemed to be triggered by any specific action, such as pressing the infamous "J" key, or using the camera, as others have stated.Through my research I determined the first thing to do was a reset to factory settings. That took time, but didn't solve anything. Then I went down the loose battery/business card shim route. I have 3 BN80 batteries. None of them solved the problem, nor did any of the various business card shim configurations I tried. All of my BN80 batteries are rated 1380 mAh/5.1 Wh. One poster claims that there are 2 different versions of that battery and the correct one is rated 1320 mAh/4.2 Wh. So I tried my BN70 from my Moto Karma (1140 mAh/4.2 Wh).

I also have 2 SD cards and it re-booted with either of them, and with neither of them.So I mumbled something unrepeatable, and gave-up. :-( I pulled my sim card and stuck it back into my Q1 Karma. Then I thought...could it be? So I re-tried the Backflip and viola! No problems. It's solid as a rock. I can browse the web via wi-fi and use all of the features. I can open it, shut it, use the camera, push any key (hard), including those on the battery side of the keyboard (even with the thinner profile BN70 battery) and I can't get the thing to re-boot! That is until I insert a SIM card. The very same SIM card which works just fine in my other Moto phone.

I don't want to be stuk with a hone that reboots constantly, and more importantly, I sell them and don't want to have to tell everyone I've sold to that I've made a mistake. Is there a fix for this other than a hard reset?

Motorola Xoom :: Endless Bootup Loop After 3.1 Update?

Aug 15, 2011

Originally I had a US Xoom. After the 3.1 update, so many months ago, it started rebooting almost as soon as it had booted. The reboot trigger seemed to be when it connected with the Wifi. A factory reset would cure it for a few hours but otherwise turning off the wifi was the only permanent solution.Motorola fixed it by giving me a UK Xoom - and 3.0. And it was good until the much anticipated, and delayed, 3.1 update, and it started again. After a bit i realised it was a combination of an old and slightly unreliable Wifi base-station and, I assume, a change in the Android Wifi s/w that made it less tolerant of imperfections. Now I reboot the base-station.

Motorola Atrix 4G :: Fingerprint Reader In Infinite Loop

Aug 25, 2011

I am having a very strange problem with the fingerprint reader. The problem started occasionally, but now is almost permanent. When at the lock screen, without even touching the sensor, I get the message "Swipe was too fast". It will instantaneously flash back to say "Swipe finger sensor", but usually flashes back so quickly to the "too fast" message you can't even see the "swipe" message. This pretty much prevents it from reading my finger swipes, although every once it a while I can break in.

I have tried many power cycles, pulling the battery, cleaning the sensor, all with no luck. In fact, I can do a clean power cycle, never touch the finger sensor at all, and when it finishes booting, it is already in the infinite loop. I even tried forgetting all fingerprint settings and re-registering, and most of the time as soon as I got to the screen to start reading my swipes, it would register all illegal swipes even before I ever attempted one. (After many tries, I was able to finally get through the re-register step).

To me it very much feels like a hardware issue with the sensor, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything similar as my searches have not turned up anything quite like this problem.

I have a fairly stock Atrix, build 4.5.91, with a decent share of apps, but no lauchers, lockers, task killers, and nothing in the auto-end list.

Motorola Droid 3 :: Camera Lacking Droid / Droid 2 Features And Quality

Jul 22, 2011

Does Motorola intentionally make their new products inferior at release?I've been using a Droid and a Droid 2 for about 18 months.I shoot a lot of pictures outdoors, some macro, lots of nature and concerts.I also shoot indoors under challenging conditions (concert lighting.) They have both prtovided a passable point-and-shoot camera. The Droid 3 camera is dissapointing in that several important features have vanished:

-There is auto white balance, only a manual and difficult-to-use control.
-The user can no longer set ISO
-The user can no longer set EV
-Focus is iffy under a variety of conditions
-Photos have a bluish cast under most conditions, with and without flash

So instead of getting pretty good shots with a convenient camera, I'm getting washed-out, bluish garbage.(Issues with the video vs. Droid 2 also, in a separate post.)I want to know if Motorola intends to make the experience of this camera catch up with the spec soon, or if i should return my phone while I can still get something else from Verizon.
