After the last update, when ever an app on my sd card gets an update, all of the apps I put on the sd card disappear from the home screen. So, every time I update one, I have to reinstall all of the shortcuts on my home screen. Have already done a couple of factory resets and tried other sd cards.
View 4 RepliesI put the Motorola toggle widgets on my home screen (e.g. toggle data, wifi, bluetooth, GPS). I rebooted and they disappeared. I tried to re-add them. I can't. I can add toggle widgets from the Android Market. I can't re-add the Motorola widgets, but also, the space where they should be is not available to add another widget either. i.e. I've now got a dead/unusable space on my home screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have not had this problem before Gingerbread and have just now noticed it after backing up some SD card data to my PC.Turns out that, when I connect the Droid X to the PC and the SD card is unmounted by that process, several icons disappear from my home screen. It appears to be apps that have partially installed themselves to the SD card (I have not manually moved anything to the SD card or installed apps there because I still have several gigabytes of space on the phone itself) and only those apps. Interestingly they appear to only be games (Angry Birds, Need For Speed Shift, The Sims 3...)I ran an experiment on the phone itself and simply unmounted the SD card and, sure enough, the same apps disappeared from the home screen after I replaced them. Then I did it again by connecting the phone to the PC and again they disappeared.
So this only happens when unmounting the SD card for me. I looked through as many postings on this as I could and I do not have any of the apps mentioned that may be causing this problem, I have gigabytes of free space on both the phone and the SD card, RAM is not filled, and nothing but the basic phone apps are running. Rebooting or battery pulling does not bring the icons back.And this only happened on Gingerbread. The same games did not disappear when I connected the phone to the PC on Froyo.
I've used the Motorola Media Sync app twice to transfer music to my phone. Both times, about half of the icons and shortcuts get removed from my home screens. The apps are still there, I just need to put them back on to the phone.
View 1 Replies View Relatedfor a lighter topic i thought i would share how i setup my homescreen. i dont like to scroll around screens looking for stuff or open the app drawer looking for it either.ne of my favorite apps is Folder Organizer and i make good use of it on all my Android devices. i also realize that the D3 has a similar built in function for folders but it is not nearly as feature rich as what i use so i prefer my 3rd party app for this.Here are a few screen shots:i have blanked out some pics and personal info)hen i choose any of the icons not on my dock i get all the apps i setup to be associated with that folder. here is my tools folder open. if you have more apps than can fit on the screen its ok the folder will scroll to show you all the apps:
here is a shoot of my screen where i labeled my icons so you can see where i am putting my stuff but of course this is just to show you and my screen does not have these labels. i dont like labels on anything since i know what they are:i use folder organizer to make new custom direct links for the camera and camcorder since i like those icons better and i dont want them labeled. you can use icons from any icon set that you have which is nice or folder organizer comes with a lot itself.this is not an ad for folder organizer it is just what i use and i thought i would share my setup.
I accidently pushed the clock up to the remove part at the top of the screen and now its gone .

By crashing I mean that you return from the camera, online, text message, or whatever and your homescreen has to rebuild itself. Mine is doing it more than its not and was wondering if its an app i have installed or do others crash too?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this happen while I was trying to swipe the homescreen lock while the phone was in the middle of rotating from portrait to landscape, but my background reset itself to the default background while I was trying to do this. This only seems to be an issue for the "non blur" launcher. I have never encountered this using a third party launcher.

2. How to get more than 4 icons in the favorites along the bottom?
My Instagram icon on my homescreen seems to have another picture or image on top of it.. Sort of replacing it... The first time this happened to me all my homescreen icons turned into the little android guy but I didn't get to screenshot this.. The only fix was restarting the phone.. Is it a virus attack or something.

On the GS3, certain icons would show "event counters" or whatever they're called in the top right corner. The email icon would show me how many unread emails I had. The Text Messaging app would show me how many unread texts i had. Facebook would show me how many unread notifications I had, etc etc... They were all the same, a number in a little orange bubble in the top right corner of each respective icon.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the beweather free app today and it seems to work great and all but the home screen icon doesnt show the updated temperature after i refresh my beweather free... the weird thing is that it shows the updated temperature when the icon is part of the full menu of icons when pressing the menu button to see all the icons but it is not updated when looking at the home screen layout with just one row of icons if u know what im saying.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy phone got the update a few days ago. The battery died that night and when I went to charge it it wouldn't turn back on. I left it on the charger to see if that would help. Now it rarely turns on and if it does it will spontaneously freeze and shut down. Sometimes it will turn on and freeze on the M screen. I haven't downloaded any new apps and have taken the battery out numerous times. I just got the phone a few weeks ago from my insurance. It's running on 2.2.3.

Okay, so in my house I have a wireless router that I have two laptops, an android tablet, and several unactivated smartphones that I use for developement purposes all connected to. All these devices connect to and stay connected to the wifi without a problem. Some are set for static ips and some are set to dhcp. My Droid 4 is set for static ip and I've tried several different numbers. The wifi connects fine and for the most part stays connected fine. But at least once a day I will pull my phone out of the holster and see both the wifi and 3g icon on at the same time as if they are competing to connect and both failing; neither icon is blue and the apps that require a data connection don't work. I have to toggle wifi off and back on for the 3G icon to go away and the wifi to reassociate and turn blue. This is a minor inconvienence but I just wanted to put this out there to see if any one else is experiencing similar issues and more importantly to see if any one has figured out a way to fix this. The primary issue with this glitch isn't just that the data is disconnected when both icons are on but that it seems to drain the battery a bit quicker. Normally with either wifi or 3g connected with a blue icon the battery seldom drops below 50% in a single day of usage. On some days it doesn't even drop below 70% after a day of use. But when the two icons are in a tug-of-war over who should be connected my battery can go from 100% to 60% real fast. Fortunately, most of the times that this issue has occured the phone has been plugged into the charger. I've included a photo of what I'm talking about. BTW, I don't have 4G in my area which is why I'm have the 3G icon.

View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter the GB update, anytime that I mount/unmount the SD card, any icons that i have created dissapear from the home pages. This is only for apps that I moved to the SD card. I've tried rebooting, and no change. Any thoughts? BTW, I did a full wipe and reset after the GB installation.
With Froyo, if the card was unmounted, any app moved to the SD card, the shortcut icons were shown as generic with a gear icon. However, once mounted, the the app icon would be restored.

I see all of them in the facebook for android app. Twitter, with its simple design, is the mostly the only thing I see updates from in Social Networking.I dug into the software on the phone and found the probable cause.The App Social Networking uses a process called com.motorola.blur.friendfeed.After tracing the path to the resource files for this process, I find this process uses 2 resource files, both located in /system/app/ called FriendFeed.odex and FriendFeed.apk. These files and the other files related them (friendfeed.xml file that crossreferences process com.motorola.blur.friendfeed to friendfeed.jar) all have a date/timestamp of 3-8 16:25 - basically, about when the Droid 4 first came out.

View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery time I shut down and restart my RM, or add a new app from the store, it empties the program icons I have in the dock bar at the bottom of the screen! The "apps" icon stays, but the others that I place there because they're the ones I use frequently all disappear, and I have to put them back into the dock bar.
