Motorola Droid Bionic :: Make A Selection With The Homescreen Stuck On Portrait?
Oct 11, 2011
I do love it but i wish it had more customization options! why does motorola decide something is not suitable for their customers? we are not all alike instead of throwing out features they should just have an option to turn on and off.I really, really, REALLY wish my homescreen would rotate in BLUR without having to use a diffrent launcher!i mean its so dumb, i roate my phone and i have to make a selection with the homescreen stuck on portrait then when the app or even the app drawer opens it rotates.
When I go to all apps and press the search icon I get: "Sorry! The application Homescreen (process com.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Only option is to press the Force close and from then on the phone does NOT work right. I end up having to power it off and back on.
For the last couple of days my Bionic's browser opens for a half a second in portrait, then switches to landscape and can't be changed out of landscape. No other applications have this issue. My display setting for auto-rotate screen is checked.I've powered off and on and removed and replaced the battery a few times.I've gone into the App Tray>Menu>Manage Apps>All>Browser but I don't find an option to check or uncheck Landscape Only. I cleared the cache while I was there but that doesn't change anything. Since it's only the browser there must be a setting somewhere but I can't figure out how to find it.
A few weeks back I noticed that the call and music volume on my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone ICON) seemed to stuck at half-volume or less, despite appearing in the volume settins to be at full. This makes the Bluetooth unusable for phone conversations except in the quietest of rooms.
I have reset the ICON on numerous occasions -- blew the pairing off the Bionic (and did a hard reset) but to no avail. Nothing seems to bring the volume back up to the way it was.
I want to make my apps install to the SD Card (32GB) like they did with GB installed.I know there has got to be a way - I did an FDR before and after ICS, So I've downloaded 2 apps that I've bought and don't see how to move to SD Card (says internel and/or phone, but no SD option)
It happened again today. I picked up the phone to make a call and it was in the middle of rebooting. It had been sitting idle for over an hour.I rebooted it myself the night before just prior to connecting it to the charger.
The % has not moved for over an hour now. I'm on a decent LTE connection and USB power. I'm hoping I don't have to start over, it took almost 2 hours to get that far.
My only "complaint" is that whenever a call comes in or when I make a call, it always has it on the phonespeaker and not over the car dock audio connected to the radio. I have to press the speaker button to turn it off each time.way to have it default to the speaker being off?
Does anyone know of any surefire way to transfer files to and from the Bionic to a windows 7 PC?
I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa. Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.
Im having the same issue as a lot of other people (so i read). Mine has progressively gotten worse. My data connection shows active (sometimes it doesnt) but I cannot transfer data. After multiple restarts/battery pulls, i have data connection but NO app will transfer data except the web browser and dolphin. Even Gmail will not sync. So i can surf the web, but cant check my gmail app, pageonce, etc, etc. Wifi/bluetooth work fine. MOST of the time I can still text / make calls but not always.
I am hesitant to do a factory reset as the last time i did this, it did not change the problem and i was stuck with nothing because i had no data connection to connect to my google account with (nor wifi, i was on vacation).
I can get a 4G signal rarely in home. At work and mobile I am usually 4G.I expect to be on 4G for a few years (5G anytime soon?) and was thinking of spending $$$ on a Wilson repeater to pick up 4G with a directional antenna and amplifier for home: url...I am a licensed Amateur Radio operator and the principals involved seemed sound to me.Also, does anyone know how to put the Bionic into Field Test Mode?
Has anyone had a lot of luck with Zumocast on the Bionic playing differenct CODECS? I seems to work awesome but has some CODEC limitations, is there any way to use another video player other then the default Android one (which it appears to be utilizing)?
Any one have any luck getting the FIOS Remote app working on their Bionic? I got it downloaded and followed all the directions but it wouldn't sync up. Home net is a std Verizon issued router (only thing custom is the net name, channel, and crypto key) and the Bionic is able to get on the wifi no problem.
Gmail is my email. I long ago disabled the "conversation" (threaded) view of messages in Gmail iitself on the web, and in settings on any device. However, I can't find a way to do this on the Bionic. There's no option in accounts > Gmail. I HATE having the emails strung together like they were text messages. One of the major issues is losing attachments (ex: photos) in earlier emails once additional ones have been added to the "thread."
Have experienced this with a couple of applications (Freecaddie Pro and My Tracks) the program is suppose to store to SD card and it saves to internal memory. Spoke to the developer of Freecaddie and he checked and it is suppose to save courses to SD but Bionic saves to Internal Memory. With My Tracks even when I pick "Save to SD card" is saves it to Internal Memory. What is up with that and is there a way to correct it?I know my SD card is working because I have moved pics and music to it without a problem.
I had noticed this problem before with the USB not working with non Motorola cables (INCLUDING ones purchased from VZW before the release of the bionic)5. Issue: USB Cables:The XT875 can only be used with Motorola USB cables.Action: No work around required.Resolution: No resolution required, working as designed and approved by Verizon Wireless.
I'm unable to take a portrait photograph or video on my Razr. If I hold it in portrait mode, the icons don't rotate like they do on the Galaxy Nexus, there's no option to set it to portrait mode, and every picture ends up in landscape. Even if I disable Auto Rotate, they're all in landscape. This is a real pain in the butt because sometimes I need more detail on something that is taller than it is wide but I have to settle for the extra space of landscape. The Galaxy Nexus and Droid Bionic allow portrait photographs and video, why doesn't the Razr.
for a lighter topic i thought i would share how i setup my homescreen. i dont like to scroll around screens looking for stuff or open the app drawer looking for it either.ne of my favorite apps is Folder Organizer and i make good use of it on all my Android devices. i also realize that the D3 has a similar built in function for folders but it is not nearly as feature rich as what i use so i prefer my 3rd party app for this. Here are a few screen shots:i have blanked out some pics and personal info)hen i choose any of the icons not on my dock i get all the apps i setup to be associated with that folder. here is my tools folder open. if you have more apps than can fit on the screen its ok the folder will scroll to show you all the apps:
here is a shoot of my screen where i labeled my icons so you can see where i am putting my stuff but of course this is just to show you and my screen does not have these labels. i dont like labels on anything since i know what they are:i use folder organizer to make new custom direct links for the camera and camcorder since i like those icons better and i dont want them labeled. you can use icons from any icon set that you have which is nice or folder organizer comes with a lot itself.this is not an ad for folder organizer it is just what i use and i thought i would share my setup.
I have discovered that all of the pictures that I take in portrait orientation once emailed to someone they are switched to landscape. The pictures can not be rotated back to the proper orientation with out opening Paint program and rotating them manually. I take hundreds and thousands of pics of my life (kids, vacations etc..) and do not want to have to manipulate them later on once moved to my computer. If you lower the picture quality to 6mp it fixes the problem, also if you shoot the pic in HDR mode. I should not have to do this to make it work. Fail.
This is odd and Motorola Tech support has no idea. For some reason photos taken in portrait end up in lanscape and upside down (sideways) to recipient when sent via MMS. I have sent test pics to myself and three other phones, HTC, Bionc and S3 they all recieve them in lanscape. this didn't happen with my old T-bolt! Portrait photo's were sent and received as portrait.Motorola could not not confirm if this is an issue as they have nothing noted. They didn't have a phone with service to test. They want me to do a full restore and then send the phone in if that doesn't work. I want to make sure this issue is just confined to my phone before I go down the replacement road. I'm still with-in my 14 day Verizon return time and if this is an issue for all M's, it's a deal breaker. Can someone text an mms picture to themself taken portrait and see if they recieve it in portrait? That would be very beneficial for both myself and Motorola. Not sure if it matters but my phone askes me if I want to resize photo every time I try to send via text.
When I watch a video in Motorola's Video player, it flips to landscape every time; no way to watch in portrait like I can on my old Droid or the iPhone.
I am trying to figure out if it is me or do other people have their homescreen crash when returnig back to it from about anything? By crashing I mean that you return from the camera, online, text message, or whatever and your homescreen has to rebuild itself. Mine is doing it more than its not and was wondering if its an app i have installed or do others crash too?
I just noticed this happen while I was trying to swipe the homescreen lock while the phone was in the middle of rotating from portrait to landscape, but my background reset itself to the default background while I was trying to do this. This only seems to be an issue for the "non blur" launcher. I have never encountered this using a third party launcher.
New issue I've never seen before, on my girlfriends d3 the homescreen refuses to rotate. I toggled the auto rotate setting, rebooted the phone, no change. Just for giggles I installed go launcher, and now the homescreen rotates properly.
After the last update, when ever an app on my sd card gets an update, all of the apps I put on the sd card disappear from the home screen. So, every time I update one, I have to reinstall all of the shortcuts on my home screen. Have already done a couple of factory resets and tried other sd cards.
I just go my Droid Razr Maxx two days ago, and after installing a few apps, I tried performing a search in the All Apps screen. An error message popped up saying The application Home-screen (process com.Motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. try again. and then the Homescreen reboots and everything works except in the All Apps.
