After I downloaded the automatic update, my phone stops allowing me to type messages. Both the screen keyboard and slide out keyboard are refusing to function. THIS ONLY HAPPENED AFTER I UPDATED MY DROID 2! I hard-restarted my phone last week and it appeared to work, but now it is malfunctioning. Every time I hard-restart my phone to factory default settings, it wipes out all of my applications.
View 2 RepliesWhen I slide my keyboard out, my screen instantly scrambles. It is a pitch or catch as to whether or not the screen corrects itself when the keyboard is then closed. If it does not correct itself, and turning the screen off does not resolve the scramble, I have to pop the battery.

Today, however I attempted to use the camera and the app froze and the phone rebooted. I uninstalled the built-in camera updates and reinstalled them and the result was the same - load the app and the phone reboots. I tried installing another camera app and the result was the same as the built-in camera app.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI am adding Email definitions for my Gmail accounts (in addition to the Google account definition for Contacts, etc.) because I want them to appear in the Messaging -> Universal Inbox. (I'm not fond of the Gmail app.)
Similarly, I am adding definitions for my Hotmail accounts because I read somewhere that Moto/Verizon will set them up as IMAP which I cannot achieve through a client like K9, else I would probably just be using it for my Universal Inbox.
Via My Accounts -> Add account -> Email Accounts... If I set up a Gmail or Hotmail account by selecting Other and then automatically or manually configuring, then mail is retrieved. However, if I select the appropriate icon for Gmail or Windows Live Hotmail, the only Email which ever appears in the 'Inbox' is from donotreply@vzw.net regarding the success of the operation - this message is not even sent into my actual Gmail/Hotmail Inbox as verified online.. NONE of the other messages from my Inbox ever appear.
So, why do I care how the account is set up? Mostly because the only easy way to distinguish between the message source in the Universal Inbox is the little icon designating the type of Email account. If they are all set up as Other, they all end up with the same icon.
This functionality worked just fine on my Droid 2. So, is it now broken on the Droid 4?
(As an aside, the Hotmail account is set up automatically as POP3. Was I misinformed that Motorola had a license to set up as IMAP through some licensing agreement with Microsoft?)
don't know if this was asked yet, but does the droid x take a class 10 memory card? I've seen class 2, class 4 and class 10 memory cards. Class 10 is suppose to be better (faster). Does the droid x support a class 10 memory card?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIssue started a few days ago, around March 9th-10th 2012. Got this new Razr this past January and this "Select Dock Type" pops up either from the unlock screen (when selecting the camera) or when opening other apps (e.g. a geo-cache app, sms texting etc). Doesn't matter if you tell it to remember the setting. Another symptom, status bar indicates "HDMI cable connected" when in fact, I've never connected it to an hdmi cable.
When trying to use the camera, there is no display to allow you to see what you're shooting. This is with either front or rear facing modes or video. Interestingly, when I do select the camera from the unlock screen, it'll display but then the "Select Dock Type" popup appears. Closing it makes the display go away leaving me to guess what I'm going to snap and then looking at the thumbnail in the upper left corner to see what got snapped.Stopped at verizon store and agent said this is a known issue. I could either replace my brand new phone with a refurb or wait a few weeks for an update that'll hopefully correct this as it was acknowledged to affect a small number on phones built before December.Is there some other way to get rid of this annoying popup? Tried connecting it to hdmi dock at verizon store but no-go.

I am able to print photos from my phone wirelessly via my network (Dell Laptop w/VISTA & H/P Officejet 7400 All-in-One, Microsoft Small Business) but when I tried to print a spreedsheet, as a test of Motoprint capabilities, it shows the printer grayed out and says "This printer is incompatible with the currently selected document type". Funny that I use the same printer on a somewhat daily basis to print anything I want to print from my laptop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAlthough my WMV formatted Videos play fine on my home computer, I had no problem transferring them to my Bionic SD Card. Rather than playing, a small blue box opens at the bottom, which says "unable to open this type of file". Confirmed that the pre-installed Player should play MP4 and WMV. I tell them about my error message, and they recommend downloading the VLC Media Player (which works great on all files on my home computer, even on AVI and FLV files). Still won't play, so they refer me to Motorola, but before I call them, I also download, the seemingly popular MoboPlayer and MX Video Player.
The Motorola second level of support tells me to convert them from WMV to WMV, although my experience with Motorola's Tech support is that I sense that due to our mother tongues, it might be my fault for not parsing my words carefully enough. Feel free to contribute your WMV (or MP4 experience) to this thread, as the last advice that the Motorola Level 2 Tech Support gave me was to go to "setting", then "privacy" and then "restore data reset".
I'm using the stock email client on a Droid3 and a DroidX with a Verizon POP3 email account. If an Office 2007 file is sent as an attachment (.docx, .xslx, .pptx) it shows up a "unsupported file type" and cannot be downloaded or saved. I have both QuickOffice and DocumentsToGo installed and the files open fine with those apps and are recognized attachments I use the K9 email client with the same Verizon POP3 email account.Is there any way to get the stock email client to recognize that .docx, etc are valid file attachments and allow them to be downloaded and viewed

View 1 Replies View RelatedI updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1 on Friday, it worked normally for about 24 hours, and now all of a sudden it is completely unusable. If I press the home button absolutely nothing happens. But if I plug it into the charger and then press the home button, the white apple appears, and it boots to the grey screen that you get with a brand new phone. When I then swipe the slider I am asked for a passcode, so I enter the one I used when the phone was working normally. I then get the screen that says to connect to iTunes. Problem is that I'm traveling and so for the moment cannot connect to my iMac at home. (I have a PowerPC G4 laptop with me that can't go beyond OS 10.4 and iTunes 9.1.1.) Is there anything I can do now or do I have to wait until I return home? Or is the phone totally toast or what? I've read some stuff about SIM cards being corrupted with this update. Would a new one restore the whole phone?

Have a Droid X which will randomly drain its battery in an hour or two due to the com. motorola.blur.service.main consuming 100% of the CPU.I am unable to determine any trigger for this event.On most occasions my only warning of this occurring is that the phone will become very hot due to the CPU load.This event will typically occur every day or every other day.This behavior has occurred with all versions of Gingerbread.It behaved properly on Froyo and Eclair.The first occurrence of this behavior coincided with the original Gingerbread update.Phone is and always has been running a complete stock OS (not rooted).The phone is in perfect condition with no physical damage of any kind.
The process in question and coincidental rapid loss of battery capacity has been verified via SystemPanel.This phone is NOT running any type of automatic/interval task killer, virus scanner, or any other snake-oil type battery improvement software.(SystemPanel is not an automatic task killer, it is simply recording per-process CPU consumption/battery drain at 15 minute intervals).The phone is used almost exclusively for business-related tasks, i.e., as a phone, for email, calendaring, and occasional web browsing.
I updated my C7-00 to the latest Symbian^3 Belle version yesterday. I haven't had much time to try it out but the first impression was that my phone was improved.
Now, I realized that my Original Nokia WH-205 Stereo Headset suddenly has stopped working i.e. they are not recognized by my C7-00 after the update. Why is this? I had no concerns before with the original Symbian^3 firmware or the Anna update either. Still, I can hear music with the standard headset that was included with my phone (Nokia Stereo Headset WH-102) and also with regular 3,5 mm earphones from a different manufacturer (Creative). I don't understand why the WH-205 don't work when the others seem to do and be recognized by the phone?
I'm 100% positive they are not broken as they worked perfectly fine just a couple of days ago when I could even make phone calls.
Should I roll back to Symbian Anna or is there some way of fixing this via a patch or manually?
I just got an update message for update 4.2. something.. I didnt record the full update number/version.I gave the ok to download and install after reading the warning that it might take up to 7 minutes to complete.It has locked with the red dot "M" logo for 30 minutes.What should I do now? Holding the power button does not turn it off , no buttons get any response. I am about to pull the battery and restart but I fear I might cobble up the update and cause more harm.

I did the iOS 8.1.2 update. I now do not have predictive type on my iPhone 5s for messaging but do have it for my iPad Retina Mini. Predictive is selected under Settings/Keyboard/Predictive on both devices. I really do not want to lose this because it actually made the keyboarding experience on my devices tolerable. Also I was thinking that I had this keyboard in other apps on the devices but am not seeing it now.
It was the little bar with the suggestions was collapsed. Even with my very tiny fingers, I had a hard time getting it back by dealing with that little grey line, but it is now back.Â

I have an R2D2 Droid 2 that I (foolishly) flashed over to the standard Droid 2 system version, in order to run the Gingerbread build for it that came out a couple weeks ago. At the time, I was convinced that the R2 would not be getting a GB build, so I jumped the gun.
Now that the official R2 GB has been released, I would really like to get back to stock. It's kind of the whole reason I bought this phone instead of a regular Droid 2. Unfortunately, along the way I've managed to lose my stock image for the R2, and AFAIK there has never been an SBF released for the R2.
I've been trying for at least a month to come up with a solution to this problem, have scoured the internet (and noticed a lot of people that have had the same problem), and have pretty much run out of ideas at this point. I also know that rooting and flashing aren't necessarily condoned by Motorola in general, but does anyone have any other ideas on how I could get back to stock R2, Froyo or GB, at this point?
I know the update is supposed to be rolling out today, and according to vzw you're supposed to be able to do a manual update but every time i check it says i'm up to date and no update is available. so what is the official status is it live or not? or are you only able to do manual if you have an unlocked phone.

View 15 Replies View RelatedThe update has made the wi-fi next to unusable. I have removed the Wi-Fi connection and re-entered it. Power cycled the phone, done a battery pull. Nothing fixes the issue. Try running a speed test it either fails consistently with "network communication failure" or the bandwidth is horrendous. I never had such issues before the update. The issue is not only at home even at work. I was wondering if others were seeing such abysmal performance. I have NEVER rooted my phone. I wish I had and switched to community ROM, they seem to be doing a better job than a corporation like Motorola. I just wish Motorola never updated this phone, every update has caused the phones performance to deteriorate. The Droid X could have been a worthy successor to the Droid but Motorola just screwed it up. I have been a loyal motorola and verizon customer for close to 10 years now. When my contract gets done one thing is for certain I will never ever be buying another Motorola device nor will I ever recommend a Motorola device ever again. Releasing half a dozen devices every year is only what Motorola is good at

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I noticed that neither one of our Droid Xs can get the GPS to lock on.Before the latest update we both were using the gps while in Chicago and on the way back to New York the week of August 1rst.This week we can't get the gps to work on either phone; it will continually keep searching and searching.I've been trying for three days now.We have tried 3rd party gps apps and that will not work.We have tried rebooting both phones and pulling batteries, and it still will not fix the problem. Everything else works on the phone- wifi, blue tooth, calls, etc.

If I open a new application that uses the GPS, it will obtain a new fix, but again freeze as soon as it's done so. This issue is consistent across all GPS applications I've tried (Google Maps, Navigation, Waze, GPS Status, GPS Test). It also happens regardless of whether the phone is in my car dock or not.

For example, this morning I had 10 apps show needing updates. I tapped on "Update All". One app updated fine, then the next one went to "Downloading", but never showed a statusAfter over 30 minutes, it still just showed "Downloading". I tapped on "Stop", then "Update All" again, and one more app updated, then the same behavior of the next one just sitting on "Downloading" happened. I kep repeating this, and got all of the apps updated.This happens on 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi, both at work and at home. I've tried clearing all data/updates from the Play Store app, and completely removing and re-adding my Google account.
