Motorola Droid X :: Phone Is NOT Running Any Type Of Automatic / Interval Task Killer / Virus Scanner
Oct 25, 2011
Have a Droid X which will randomly drain its battery in an hour or two due to the com. motorola.blur.service.main consuming 100% of the CPU.I am unable to determine any trigger for this event. On most occasions my only warning of this occurring is that the phone will become very hot due to the CPU load. This event will typically occur every day or every other day. This behavior has occurred with all versions of Gingerbread. It behaved properly on Froyo and Eclair. The first occurrence of this behavior coincided with the original Gingerbread update.Phone is and always has been running a complete stock OS (not rooted). The phone is in perfect condition with no physical damage of any kind.
The process in question and coincidental rapid loss of battery capacity has been verified via SystemPanel. This phone is NOT running any type of automatic/interval task killer, virus scanner, or any other snake-oil type battery improvement software.(SystemPanel is not an automatic task killer, it is simply recording per-process CPU consumption/battery drain at 15 minute intervals). The phone is used almost exclusively for business-related tasks, i.e., as a phone, for email, calendaring, and occasional web browsing.

What is the difference between Advanced Task Killer & the free version? With that, is there something better than ATK?Ive heard the advanced task manager is a better solution.

New HTC One X owner here; plenty of previous experience with a HTC Desire; however coming to the One X I'm really missing the functionality of the settings/menu button that was available on the desire.
It seems as though most apps put the settings button as an option onscreen top right, however in the default 'navigation' app, there doesn't seem to be any way to kill this without either
a) Arriving at the destination and hitting the exit option
b) Opening the task killer and manually stopping the app
From what I've watched apparently the app switcher window is supposed to be able to kill apps (by swiping up) however this does not kill the navigation app.

For the last 2-4 weeks my phone has been running very slowly. I am ready to throw it to the ground under a passing train it is so bad. Type in someone's name and maybe a minute later it finds them in the address book. Click on an entry to dial the call and a minute later it presents the Google Voice question and after another wait it finally dials the callThe best advice the local Verizon store had was to reset the phone, but I'm dreading the work that will take, and the bits of data that will be lost

Any way to change the interval that the screen wakes up to show you what notifications you have? I really don't need a reminder every 10 seconds.

Are antivirus programs needed with Android? I ran one for a while on WM but it seemed to slow everything way down on the system.I thought I had read that android was fairly protected but it could pass from your phone to your pc when plugged in via usb.

In other words if I put a program/app on this list such as say Google Map and then later need to use that app, will this program shut down in mid use? Or does this list just mean that it makes sure that idle processess are 'ended' when not in use so that it doesn't bog down RAM? Is there a good instruction manual on the features such as these for the X2, or should I look at something like the Bionic's user's manual since it comes with Gingerbread and should have some verbiage in regards to the task manager?

How does one setup the task manager properly? Which tasks and processes can be killed? What can I do to create a better D2G? Is the task manager really a good idea? Why do some applications keep starting when I kill them?

I have my application supporting the background modes (GPS) , and I can see that location updates are printed regularly in log. I have a NSTimer running which will send the location updates to my server every 1 hr. It is strange that the timer is working for many hours and suddenly it got stopped. I have two questions in my mind which I keep on asking me ,even-though I have read some apple documents. 1 - Is it possible to run a task infinitely either in background / foreground using timers ? if the timers aren't the option , what API I can use to run task infinitely . 2 - If the user have an option to disable Location Services for my app, I am gone . I don't want the user to disable the Location service for my particular app.

Just bought a Droid Xyboard 10.1. It's beautiful with a fast processor, but it lacks an application that'll enable you to kill the application or pages that you've recently opened. Is there any other application that'll add an option by the page or application to delete it?http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/12/droid-xyboard-10-1-review/That's what keeps popping up when I search for any other applications. I believe it would be a lot more efficient if the Droid Xyboard had the same layout as the Asus Transformer Prime regarding the "X" on the side of the applications that I've opened/viewed.Does anyone know of any amazing application that describes what I'm talking about

I bought my wife the Razr M from AmazonWireless and she loves the upgrade from her Droid X, but we're having problems with barcode scanners.
When taking pictures using the built in camera app, autofocus works fine. However, when scanning a barcode using any app that supports barcode scanning, the camera never autofocuses and since the barcode is out of focus, it can't be scanned. We've tried it using ZXing Barcode Scanner, the Munzee app, and the walgreens pharmacy app.
I haven't been able to find any reports of others having a similar issue which makes me think it might be a hardware issue.

In an effort to "squeeze" as much life out of my battery as possible I decided to take a Moto Rep's video/recommendation and use the stock Task Manager to turn off selected apps 2 minutes after screen off. This strategy worked pretty good on my Pro, but it doesn't do so well on the Razr. After monitoring the stock Task Manager now for a week, it appears that it does not turn off selected apps after 2 minutes of screen off. We all realize the battery demand on the Razr and there is a lot of experimentation going on (that is a good thing) to develop settings (Smart Actions etc) that prolong time between charges. It would be nice if we could have an effective Task Manager (stock and Moto approved) that would be another "tool in the tool box".

I know we are at the point that some of us are giving our reviews of ICS while the rest are waiting for their update to happen at all... but here are a few things missing that i have noticed..first, Task Manager. is it not needed at this point or did the assume we would just download one? i used mine instead of using a task killer ( i know i know that debate is an old one) but i miss having it on there.omeone else mentioned the "in pocket detection" was also gone. I used mine with and without it and never really saw it a difference. mine is in the otterbox holder most of the time, and in my pocket only off work. but its still gone.
the other is the3g only, which has already been discussed and told how to change it anyway. I downloaded the app which is an HTC thunderbolt app that was recomended on the droid news n guide app, but i cant tell you if it works lol.. im hardly ever in a 4g area.while there are a lot of good things in ICS and the fact that it looks so different does give you the "new phone feeling" i wonder why these were taken off.

There is an option in the task manager under its settings to show system apps. When you do it will show that the Android system is running at 25% of the CPU. You can refresh this and it will remain the same.
I'm curious, is that because it is taking a snapshot of what the CPU is doing right at that moment (which would be refreshing the Task Manager list) or is Android really constantly gobbling up 25% of the CPU? Seems high if it's the latter...

I have a stock non rooted or modded Atrix running up todate firmware. Recently I tried using Astro to try and find a file I had on my phone only to find my phone got stuck in some never ending loop on a folder called thumb2 in the osh directory. After it got to about 2 gigs in size I figured it wasn't going to stop and cancelled the search. I looked in the folder my self only to find it kept looping back onto its self. What is this folder? Did I get some sort of virus or malware on my phone? Would it ruin anything if I deleted the folder seeing how its just keeps looping on it self?

I'm trying to watch movies on Netflix with my Droid Bionic. Every 45 minutes Task Manager interrupts and states that the app has been running for 45 minutes and is consuming battery resources. At this point Task Manager asks me if I want to continue running the app. I can't find any setting to disable this. Netflix is not on the "end" list for Task Manager.

Over the past few days I've run into something new. I've gotten a number of high cpu usge notifications in the notification bar, but when I open up the task manager to see what is running amuck, the total displayed cpu usage looks small. how to track down the culprit? No new apps, but lots of updates recently, and I really don't want to start randomly deleting apps till I find the one causing this (I've got about 100 apps installed, of which I use probably 10-15 on a daily basis) As a side note my extended battery lost 50% of it's power while plugged into a computer via usb in 3 hours... That has never happened, the computer usb charger has always been more than enough to stop any power drain (while streaming pandora, and connected to bluetooth headphones).

if the information was here, but I have run several searchs and cannot find it. I am having a problem where the stock music player stops playing after approximately 30 minutes. Several internet searches suggest setting the music player to never auto end in the task manager on the Droid X. Only problem is I cannot find where the "pre-installed" task manager app is located to check the auto-end list. I have looked though all of apps in the "app tray" and also explored the settings under settings-application management.

First time I've gotten this alert. Not rooted. Was in dock all night.Pulled it out of dock and within moments I got an alert I've not seen before, in the status bar.I went to the task manager to see what it was all about and the OS was using 54% of the CPU.Moments later it jumped to 80+ percent. It kept moving between 50-ish and 80+ from moment to moment.I ended up shutting the phone off and restarting it.After doing that, no more alerts, but the first time I checked the OS following the restart, it was at 27%.Basically, it's now using a minimum of 16% and sometimes more than 25%, but never more than roughly 30%.IS THAT NORMAL?oh, and as a test, I put it back in the dock for a moment or two, took it out, and no "high CPU usage" alerts.

All of my apps that are loaded on my xyboard and razr are checked to automatically update but yet certain apps continuously tell me that an update is available and I have to do it manually. Even though the box is checked to allow automatic updates. This happens on both devices for the same apps. Gets very annoying.

Tapping my way through "Go to all settings" > "Accounts" > "Google". I see my gmail account shown, and under that it says "Sync is OFF". Before the update to Jellybean I could find where to turn this on and off. Further tapping on my account name I get to a screen titled "Sync" at the top-left. The options icon gives me "Sync now" and "Remove account" options. The screen is filled with a list of Google things I can sync. Tapping any of those syncs that Google thing. But, none of them are configurable.

how to turn off the new Automatic Wifi Feature that was releases with ICS? I think it is great that the phone can turn on Wifi when you are close to it, but it would be real nice if you could set it to turn on only when near certain Wifi Networks, or even turn if off for that matter.
Short of waiting for the Auto Wifi menu to eventually pop up and ask how you want to use it, does anyone know where to actually go in the settings to do it when you want to and not when ICS decides to give you the pop up?
It is real frustrating since it does NOT shut itself off when you leave a Wifi Zone and there is no apparent way to set it to turn on only when near your Wifi zones which makes this feature more of an annoyance then a feature.

There is a setting to enable the RAZR to automatically keep its time correct by syncing with a time server somewhere on the internet. When I checked the time on my RAZR against my PC, where I have a service that sets the time from an atomic clock, I found that the RAZR was off by more than 14 seconds. I disabled the option and instead installed an app called "ClockSync" that sets the correct time. Unfortunately, the automatic time update setting is required by Verizon in order to login to My Verizon Mobile, so I either give up checking my data and call usage or I give up accurate time. This is very annoying. Can we get Verizon to use a reliable time server instead of whatever they are using now?

After I downloaded the automatic update, my phone stops allowing me to type messages. Both the screen keyboard and slide out keyboard are refusing to function. THIS ONLY HAPPENED AFTER I UPDATED MY DROID 2! I hard-restarted my phone last week and it appeared to work, but now it is malfunctioning. Every time I hard-restart my phone to factory default settings, it wipes out all of my applications.
