I was looking for opinions from the GSM users on the latest GB version. Is it better/worse/different than previous versions?
I briefly used the .606 version in the UK last week. My impressions:
1) I got more bars than I saw under Froyo. These were very unreliable under Froyo, it was perfectly possible to make calls with 1 or zero bars, so this might have been fixed.
2) I saw the new data icons, H, 3G, E and G. For my eyes, the new icons with the background were harder to see, I had to look closer to see if that was an H or a G!
3) Battery was used more quickly than under CDMA. I don't think this was GB change as I had seen it before, and I wasn't sure if it really due to the difference in protocol or merely because I am in a strong CDMA area here and a weaker GSM one in the UK.
so when the soak of 2.3.4 was out it seemed to me like a mostly 'under the hood' fix, and addressed a few bugs. After having lived with it for a while, some of the shine is wearing off. While they made some progress having the phone be a worthwhile mp3 player, now the camera app has suffered. The camera is really slow.It took me 9 tries this afternoon to get a shot with flash. The camera is so slow that the flash would pop before the shot was taken!
My Bionic has been wonderful since I got it in September. Starting (I think) yesterday, it is very slow.As an example, after I enter my 4 digit code, it sits for a second or two before I shows me the home screen.I also noticed that when I come back in, it's always on the main screen. It used to be one the screen that was showing when I turned it off.I was thinking it is probably some app update I got, but the homescreen thing makes me think not.Short of a master reset, does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening, or how to trace it?
One of the reasons I wound up returning my D2 G during the trial period was iffy Bluetooth performance. I could not get phone to download the address book to my car's (BMW 328i) on board system, it constantly broke the connect, and generally did not work well. The situation seems to be night and day with the D3. Whatever Motorola has changed, is definitely for the better. It syncs ot my system instantly, offers a strong and crystal clear connection, and has been very stable overall.
I used to get pretty good life out of my stock bionic battery. I updated the OTA update early today and since then the battery level has been going down at almost 10% every 30 - 40 mins. Following is the list in my battery usage queue. This is after I did a system reset and left my phone without any new apps (except for facebook).
Display 30% Android System 17% com.motorola.contacts 12% Android OS 9% com.motorola.home 8% ....
I am planning to charge it to 100% and then see how it behaves. Will keep this thread posted with stats from my phone.
So, I had horrible battery performance after the update. I figured I would do a cache wipe. Normally this erased battery history, but not this time. The gap is during the wipe. Notice the average slope before and after
I wish they could push an update that doesn't require this crap, but its never happened.
I've probably done 1000 miles of riding with this thing on and it still thinks cowboy junkies would somehow improve my performance . I've never listenned to half the stuff in the playlist and a bunch of it is really slow paced...
concerning the poor battery performance of the Xoom after the 3.1 update. Unfortunately the search function of this forum is totally rubbish, resetting the capacity readout by deleting some kind of init file...
I've had my Electrify for two days now and have noticed less that stellar wifi performance, compared to the 3 other smartphones that I have had previously. I noticed that the Photon has recently (last week) had an update to help wifi performance. When will this update be available for the Electrify?
It doens't matter what browser I use but for the last couple of weeks the pie chart of my music does not load on the website and all I get is a blank area on the screen where it should be, as in the screen grab below
im dealing with poor battery performance of the Xoom after the 3.1 update. Unfortunately the search function of this forum is totally rubbish, so i am not able to find the answer where someone explains how to solve this by resetting the capacity readout by deleting some kind of init file.
I can't remember where I saw the comment, but another Xoom user mentioned that his handwriting application(s) seemed to degrade in performance the longer he used them (per reboot, I believe). Until today, I thought I was imagining it, but the same thing seems to be happening to me. I was taking notes with Writepad and about one-half hour into the meeting I experienced significant lag between strokes of the stylus and appearance on the screen, and I needed to revert to the keyboard. It's happened with other handwriting applications as well.
Is it possible to remove music from the "My Performance Music" list? I have removed certain songs from my MOTOACTV, and don't care to have them listed any more.
Does Motorola intentionally make their new products inferior at release?I've been using a Droid and a Droid 2 for about 18 months.I shoot a lot of pictures outdoors, some macro, lots of nature and concerts.I also shoot indoors under challenging conditions (concert lighting.) They have both prtovided a passable point-and-shoot camera. The Droid 3 camera is dissapointing in that several important features have vanished:
-There is auto white balance, only a manual and difficult-to-use control. -The user can no longer set ISO -The user can no longer set EV -Focus is iffy under a variety of conditions -Photos have a bluish cast under most conditions, with and without flash
So instead of getting pretty good shots with a convenient camera, I'm getting washed-out, bluish garbage.(Issues with the video vs. Droid 2 also, in a separate post.)I want to know if Motorola intends to make the experience of this camera catch up with the spec soon, or if i should return my phone while I can still get something else from Verizon.
I'm rather dissapointed with the E72 when it comes to GPS usage. It seems to have low sensitivity and loses the signal quite often (in the car). My benchmark is a stand-alone antenna (Holux) but even using a 6220 Classic with the internal GPS I seem to get a more solid GPS reception. Right now I'm still using my old Holux since the E72 doesn't seem to be reliable enough to do in-car navigation. While on the outside it appears to work slightly better but still takes ages for a first fix (with AGPS or without).
updated my x10 to 2.1 and i find this update has really slowed down the performance and is taking a long time to load even the contacts. and also timescape is pulling irrelevant pictures from twitter capturing only the name for example alan in my contact list with no twitter profile or image gets the profile pic of alan in twitter and outrageously the edit option tells me timescape editing is not possible with this phone,.NOT TOO HAPPY WITH 2.1. can i revert back to 1.6 version by any chance.further how to install tamil fonts in x10 can we get unicode tamil phonetic keyboard.
I have recently installed a CK-300 kit which I chose because I love Nokia phones. I have paired it to my 2730 and the performance is dreadful. Callers complain of a huge echo and background noise, even when the vehicle is stationary. To further test the car kit, I fitted my sim to my old 6230i. Perfect. Even at motorway speeds the sound and clarity is great. Other posts on this forum have advised updating the phone software to 9.41 which I have done and re-done just to be sure but this doesn't cure the problem. I don't feel happy about changing handsets each time I drive, but that's my only option to stay legal unless one of you experts can help me fix the 2730.
Does any body know how to manage of RAM on e63 to increase the performance.coz my phone(e63) is too much lose of RAM. In idle it's about 57 - 62MB free RAM(i use nokia email that always run in b'ground) when i run another apps like ucweb and nimbuzz in the same time,it's going too slow for typing.when i checked my RAM it's about 42 - 45MB free. Is it normal? Please any suggestions or tips for this issue?thank you for any respon.
ive been dilligently updating my 5800 since i got it, ive not been happy with some of the updates like the stupid swipe alarm system (imho its stupid) and everything has generally been an improvement until i update to the latest version available to me on o2 in the uk,since then the phone has actually ran slower, ive needed to tap the screen more than once to get a response and sometimes during text entry i can only describe the phone as going mad thinking the screen is still being touched and entereing in letters or backspacing the entire block of text its a tad dissapointing to be honest, and re-calibrating the screen has made no improvement, one thing i admit to not trying yet is reinstalling the software but i wondered if anyone else had a similar problems since then as well
Which phone has best performance (CPU speed, RAM) ? (Nokia 5800xpress music or Nokia N97)KUDOS ME IF YOU FIND MY POST HELPFUL BY CLICKING GREEN STAR!!!
Recently i downloaded some themes from ovistore.it got automatically installed to memorycard. But now when i take gallery, photos and videos on my phone with new theme appllied it takes more time, especially when the screen rotates. Why this happens?this problem doesn't occur with preintalled theme.
I like having my phone jailbroken but my proximity sensor is a big enough issue to warrant updating. That is of course if the update truly fixes it.Anyone care to share their experience so far after the update?
My 3GS had miserable speakerphone performance. I have to participate in a lot of conference calls for business, and the speakerphone was embarrassing; in a group setting, we always had to use someone else's phone.Had a call yesterday, however, and was blown away by the new iPhone 4 speaker performance.
For those M8 users who would like to milk every drop of performance out of their phone. There is a secret High Performance Mode you can enable. It's made my M8 seem a lot quicker. But it does kill the battery life. How to enable High Performance Mode on the HTC One (M8), and why you may not really want to
Today I tried to install a game using the desktop manager. I can see the icon in the menu, but does not work (module not found...) and the desktop manager does not see the game installed (neither in options-advanced-applications)The problem is that now the phone has very low performance and I can barely use it, it's too slow.
My EVO Design 4G performance has degraded since the latest firmware update; menus are unresponsive and chunky, stock applications hang up and freeze, third-party application that ran smoothly on the previous OS/firmware crash.I've power-cycled my phone and also removed and reseated the battery. I've also disabled third-party applications so that only the stock-applications are running in the background. Is there a way to downgrade back to the previous firmware?
I would like to know what other users of the N900 think of the battery.I have only had a my device a few days and I can only get less than a day's use out of the battery. This is with the Wifi switched off (I mainly use the 3.5G). I do very little internet browsing. I just leave the phone on my desk, check my emails occasionally. Is this normal performance ? Does anyone get more than a day's use?
