Motorola Defy :: Model Number And Operator Not Detected?
May 25, 2011
When i heard about froyo upgrade for asean, i try Motorola Software update to update it. when i connected the device. my IMEI number is detected but my model number and operator is not detected. and sometimes my phone cannot be detected by the software.
I bought a Defy+ from a private seller on eBay a few weeks back. The phone is in pristine condition and worked fine.Unfortunately, a problem occurred when I tried to run the Motorola Software Update utility against the phone, to make sure that the firmware was fully up to date. This managed to put my phone in to a state where it won't turn on at all.I sent the phone to SBE, Motorola's repair agent in the UK, for repair. I have now been told that the phone cannot be repaired because the IMEI and MSN numbers are "not appearing on our system". Now, I know what an IMEI number is (though not an MSN) but I don't have any idea why the number not appearing on their "system" would prevent them from repairing the phone. I tried to e-mail Motorola Support about it but got an extremely unhelpful answer which explained nothing. The IMEI is clearly marked on the sticker in the battery compartment. It's obviously a Motorola phone: it says "Motorola" on the front! That's all it does, though: functionally, it's bricked.
I've just bought a Xperia Z3 but the LTE Frequency does not seem to work.I registered the phone on Sonymobile.com, but the software versión changes everytime I enter the site. For example, yesterday the version of software asociated to my phone was 23.2.A.1.62, today, earlier was 23.1.A.0.726, now the version I see is 23.0.A.2.93.
A friend told me that knowing the version of software asociated to my IMEI I can check if the model is the D6603 or the D6653.I bought the model D6603 because that is supposed to be the model that works with LTE frecuencies on my country. The D6653 does not work with LTE on my country.
I got a reply from a guy who had the same Proximity Sensor issue I have an he said his first iPhone was week 22 and his replaced iPhone was week 26. How do you know based on the serial number if a replacement iPhone4 is newer or older based on reading the model number? My current iPhone4 serial number starts with 8602.... how old is this one and how will I know if my replacement I am going to pick up today will be a newer model?
I have a flashed a rom that I think did not work for my model ( Now my phone says model number is SM-G925K) and I have no more signal. I believe the model number is the issue, but I'm not sure..
t was supposed to be a SM-G920W8.
How I can reverse it back?
This is the rom that I tried to install : [URL] ...
I have become the proud owner of an old (estimate 6 years) Nokia prepaid phone. How do I find its model number? Looking at the pictures of phones on the Nokia website, nothing jumps out at me. Was owned by a family member who recently passed away. No paperwork, not even how many minutes/time left on the prepaid card.
Hi everyone. Hoping for some help with a bizarre issue. I switched from an iphone 3gs to an android a few months ago, but when some (not all) friends w/ iphone's text me, it tries to send it as an imessage from their phones. I don't receive the texts for hours at a time. Is there something I can do to prevent this? Or is on their end? This has even happened with people who I have exchanged numbers with well after I made the switch from iphone to android which I find particularly weird.
My phone has multiple resets ad the direction of Motorola, and has been in for a circuit board replacement. Now the screen still freezes and the reception is hopeless.I am sure this handset is a lemon. It is still under warranty, 11 months old.
setting up auto-fetching applies to all email accounts. I swear on my 2.1 Spice XT300, the auto-retrieval was by email address (and also the smallest interval between fetches was 5 minutes, not 15 like on the Defy). I have never used 2.1 on the Defy; mine was original 2.2.1.
I updated to Froyo via Motorola website but it hasn't worked. My phone still shows firmware 2.1.1. Tried to update again via Motorola website but it now tells me that there are no updates for my phone.....I presume that it somehow detects that my phone previously downloaded froyo update.
My Defy is denied application on the market with no reason that I understand. Some apps are not visible from the phone, and are said "non compatible" from the market website. Sometime the website talks of country restriction while they should not be.
I have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly. This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file. After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.
I have a my Defy & XT and as of 9:22 am the weather widget hasn't udated and I've turned the phone off and on etc and then I deleted my location and tried to readd it and it said something like.. location information cannot be found (not sure off hand).. I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.
I just did a 15km outdoor run, and used the race yourself feature. Everything worked fine, the gps was detected at the start, and I got my pace and distance information throughout the run. However when I uploaded the run there is no map or elevation information and it says "No GPS data was detected".
No GPS data was detected. That's the message I see after synching my latest run from this morning to the web portal. I had the run scheduled on the portal calendar, and it appeared in my device as a planned run. When I selected that run on my device it gave me Outdoor or Indoor options. I chose Outdoor and it began searching for my heart rate monitor and GPS signal. Locked on heart rate monitor immediately and gave me the "GPS Locked" ,essage after about 2 minutes. I pressed Start and ran for 20 minutes. Returned home and synched the device. No GPS data was detected.
Monday afternoon - ACTV fully charged, left on, BT connected to my ATRIX.
Tuesday morning - ACTV down 10%, went for 4 hour 30 minute outdoor cycle with music, speed/cadence, and HRM (GPS too). Left on when workout was finished
Wednesday morning - Battery at 20%, went for 1 hour outdoor cycle, same features used as Tuesday morning. When I pulled into the house, the 10% battery warning appeared on the screen.
So, I got about 33.5 hours of standby with BT active plus almost 6 hours of workouts on a single charge (never even connected it to my computer).
Still seems to require the phone fields even though I don't have a Moto phone (just a Wifi Xoom). Also, the serial number selection is not clear since 3G users seem to use the MEID, but I've been asked for my Wifi MAC address before. This time I tried to simply enter my "serial number" as stated in the Xoom status screen. But I can't get past #1 issue above, it is trying to require me to enter a Moto phone as well.
I just got a Xoom and have been getting constant random reboots. I can't repeat exactly what is causing it; it seems to be mostly random - e.g. web browsing, reading a PDF, browsing the market, etc. I've tried to do a factory hard reset twice already, but still get the random rebooting. Sometimes it will do a full reboot where I see the Motorola logo and other times it will sort of do a half-reboot and I only see the boot animation video and not the Motorola logo.
All i see in the router status under attached devices is:140:FC:89:21:1A:73the 1st -- is supposedly the device name, the second -- is supposedly the IP....neither ever show up and the xoom constantly loses data connection even though it says its connected.fortunately for me, i'm only stuck with this pile of junk 2 more days but it seems like a major issue to me, probably in netgears firmware.
Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to take a very, very long time to retrieve the device model information. It is extremely quick up to that point, and then when the "round circular M" appears, it seems that it is stalled for some reason. I know I have more than 100 photos and a few videos, but should it take up to half an hour?
I sync contacts with a corporate Exchange / Outlook account. I can manage contacts on the phone or PC. Any contact who has say a business, home or mobile number and a fax number specified, if I go to the dialer, start typing their name, it does show the contact and a number (no indication of type such as fax or cell) so I tap that choice. Sadly, no, I can't just tell from looking at the number if it is fax or not. The phone dials the fax # which of course is incredibly annoying to my ear and that this dumb phone doesn't know not to try a fax number as the first choice for any contact who has a fax number.
I know I can set the default number per contact but I have hundreds of contacts and to go through each one to see if they have a fax and change it would really suck. Is there seriously no way to tell the phone not to use fax as first choice by default?
On Froyo Wireless works fine 100% of the time, on Gingerbread it randomly drops internet, locks data/internet until wifi is disabled, loses all awareness of networks around it, etc..I have tried resetting my whole network system, changed all security settings, WPA, WPA2, nothing works. Here are some photos of the phone doing it. Want to add that the router is on the other side of the wall, not 5 feet from me. Works 100% in Froyo, but the pictures show what happens in Gingerbread. Yes Wi-Fi never sleep is on, and even if it wasnt it should auto connect when it becomes active again, which it doesnt. the pictures show, you can see wi-fi is on but for some reason dropped connection and no longer detects any wireless networks at all, when there are easily 5-8 around me at all times. All i did was disable then reenable wifi and it detected all networks and connected again though it will not be long until it happens again.
