Motorola Defy :: Getting Really Hot If Continuously Used For 5 Minutes
Sep 20, 2011I bought the defy recently, and it is getting heat after continuous use of more than five minutes. If I play any games or if i am in call for more than 10 minutes or even if I charge the mobile my phone is getting heat.

Mar 2, 2010I decided to hard reset my 5530 and format the memory for the first time because it was running slow and the music library takes to long to refresh. To my surprise after doing a hard reset there was an entry on the log that show an SMS message was sent to an unknown number the time show it was sent after setting up the time in the phone setup. Just wondering if its a virus or something cause I bought the phone brand new about 2 months ago, and I just realized it just now after a couple of months. After doing a hard reset, the log records an SMS message is sent to an unknown number.

Jan 21, 2012I bought a Defy+ from a private seller on eBay a few weeks back. The phone is in pristine condition and worked fine.Unfortunately, a problem occurred when I tried to run the Motorola Software Update utility against the phone, to make sure that the firmware was fully up to date. This managed to put my phone in to a state where it won't turn on at all.I sent the phone to SBE, Motorola's repair agent in the UK, for repair. I have now been told that the phone cannot be repaired because the IMEI and MSN numbers are "not appearing on our system". Now, I know what an IMEI number is (though not an MSN) but I don't have any idea why the number not appearing on their "system" would prevent them from repairing the phone. I tried to e-mail Motorola Support about it but got an extremely unhelpful answer which explained nothing.The IMEI is clearly marked on the sticker in the battery compartment. It's obviously a Motorola phone: it says "Motorola" on the front! That's all it does, though: functionally, it's bricked.

Nov 3, 2011When I receive a sms message sometimes, the original text comes through fine.However, a few minutes later I get small bits and pieces of the original message sent to me in about 10 separate text messages ( sometimes more ) from a California telephone number (I live in Mass.). When I call that number from my Bionic, it goes right ot my voice mail voice mail. When I call the number from a landline, it states that the call cannot be completed.

May 12, 2011Its actually random. Sometimes when a call comes, i am not able to pick it up. The touch simply wont work. Then i have to cut the call using the power button and call them back.

Jan 1, 2013I have had to reset my phone using the factory reset option after it started doing some strange things. This is the second time I have had problems - the first after installing a few apps (only 2 - a free pool game and a free solitaire game), the second was after my niece surfed some possibly suss sites looking for Santa jokes! It may also have been installed apps causing the problems - I installed the app for the NSW Live Traffic.
So now, as soon as I make/dial/place a call (hit the green phone), the screen closes or goes black, and I have to press the power button to reactivate the screen. If I do this quickly, the actual screen lock has not yet activated, but if I do it after a few seconds I also need to swipe.
I cannot locate any setting which seems to be causing this. Last time I factory reset the phone, I didn't get this issue, so it may be something which is still installed which is causing the problem. I have tried uninstalling the NSW Live Traffic app plus anything else which wasn't part of the phone's operating system.

Motorola Defy :: How To Make A Call From Bluetooth Handsfree Using Phone
Dec 25, 2012I received a new bluetooth for Christmas to go with my Defy with Motoblur (a canadian phone) and the Voice Dialler sucks plus the bluetooth instructions are just as bad.It say to refer to your phone's usual manual.So, I would like to know how I can make a call from my bluetooth handsfree using the phone.Based on an older phone I could add a voice tag to each contact and then use that on the bluetooth.This phone doesn't seem to have that option.(It all seems to work fine if I am dialling directly from the phone once the ringing starts.But this is all pointeless as far as I am concerned. How can you be handsfree when your hands are required?)
The phone is running on the Android version 1.5 since Motorola didn't come out with an update on my phone and getting a new one isn't an option.Maybe there is an app in the market place that might work. (I can't even use Google Play because the phone version was not updated)

Sep 21, 2011I am running 2.1 and my phone ringer stopped working a few days. No changes to the phone, or new application, or physical damage. The symptom is incoming calls vibrate, but don't ring. If I check the ringtone by selecting a different tone, it plays Ok. Volume is fine also, set for independent control for incoming volume and phone ring. I have tried power cycling, removing the battery, checking my settings, and calling from different numbers (different ring tones).

Motorola Droid Bionic :: Number 1 On Dial Pad Sometimes Does Not Work During Call
Mar 8, 2012I just found a problem with my Bionic today. I was trying to access my voicemail and had to hit the number 1 on the dial pad during a call to enter my mailbox number.
The number 1 would not do anything during the call. All other numbers worked. If I kept trying to press the number 1 the screen would go black for a second then return with the dial pad. A factory reset did not cure it.
I went to a local Verizon store and the person there told me that this is a known issue and it only happens when the volume is up full. He then said that I have to put the volume down to 1/2 in order for the number 1 to work properly during a call
I called Motorola when I returned home and was told that this is not a known issue - they never heard of it.
Researching on Google and this Forum I have found others that have had this same issue. I have not heard of any resolution yet.
Both Motorola and Verizon Phone Tech Support recommended replacing the phone. Verizon Tech Support was supposed to call me back in an hour after my call with them to see what I wanted to do but never did. I was supposed to keep trying the number 1 after they had me force stop and clear the dialer and virtual keyboard. The problem still exists.
I only have a matter of hours before my 14 days is up at Verizon at which point I will be given a refurbished phone. For some reason I could not log onto this forum today to post this. I just now got in.
Do any other owners of the Bionic experience this? I don't want to replace the phone if they all do it. It's down to the wire now!

Sep 4, 2011I have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly.This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file.After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.

Aug 2, 2011I have a my Defy & XT and as of 9:22 am the weather widget hasn't udated and I've turned the phone off and on etc and then I deleted my location and tried to readd it and it said something like.. location information cannot be found (not sure off hand).. I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.
