Motorola Droid X :: Disable Then Reenable Wifi And It Detected All Networks And Connected Again?
Jun 1, 2011On Froyo Wireless works fine 100% of the time, on Gingerbread it randomly drops internet, locks data/internet until wifi is disabled, loses all awareness of networks around it, etc..I have tried resetting my whole network system, changed all security settings, WPA, WPA2, nothing works.Here are some photos of the phone doing it. Want to add that the router is on the other side of the wall, not 5 feet from me. Works 100% in Froyo, but the pictures show what happens in Gingerbread. Yes Wi-Fi never sleep is on, and even if it wasnt it should auto connect when it becomes active again, which it doesnt. the pictures show, you can see wi-fi is on but for some reason dropped connection and no longer detects any wireless networks at all, when there are easily 5-8 around me at all times.All i did was disable then reenable wifi and it detected all networks and connected again though it will not be long until it happens again.

Jan 9, 2012I'm having problems with MOTOCAST in Windows XP. It will not recognize any of the 3 wi-fi networks in my home when I search for networks. The computer sees all 3 of them just fine and can connect to any of them. MOTOCAST and my MOTOACTV device work just fine on my work computer (running Windows 7). I can upload to MOTOACTV just fine at work and can see the work wi-fi network. Problem is only on the home networks. Unfortunately, getting on the network at home is most important because that is where I workout. Additionally, I can't sync my workouts to the MOTOACTV website at all from home, not wirelessly and not via USB. MOTOCAST permits me to see the music files on my computer and sync with them but will not sync to MOTOACTV via the web. Not a problem on my work computer.

Sep 15, 2011Is there any way to change the preferred order of WiFi networks? My office has two WiFi networks, one for my office and one for the conference room down the hall. When I added the network for the conference room I found that when I'm in the office the phone keeps connecting to it, even though the signal is much weaker than the office network. I ended up just removing it from the list, however, when I'm in the conference room I have to re-add it, which is a pain because there's a long password. On my Windows laptop it's easy to just change the order and it will connect to the one closest to the top of the list, but I can't find anything like that on my Photon. It seems like it would be something pretty simple that would have been built-in.

Thought I read somewhere that Google saves all this information under your gmail account.

It's as if the WiFi is going to sleep when I power the screen off, but it doesn't wake up again. Turning WiFi off and on makes it reconnect.It seems to happen mostly when I'm at home, where I also use the Motorola flip stand with "ESP" smart charger, and a NetGear dual-band wireless router/access point.

Jun 2, 2012I hgave reset network, reset phone, hard soft shut down, plugged it into the router-time capsule, and nothing. It just keeps on spinning around and around. I do not have a VPN network, but I tried that, and still nothing. My office is where I have wifi-plus their are 10 other wifi's in the building it used to pick up, now nothing. Even at home nothing. Just spinning and spinning.It is 2 weeks old. I bought it in Canada, and am now in Africa. I purchased it factory unlocked, and it is running the 5.1.1 software. I don't want to take my phone to the apple resellers, as I bought it at an actual Apple store, and I don't trust the guy here in Tanzania. Is their anything that I have missed that I could possibly do? If you say fixed or static IP, I have no idea how to do that so if you could explain where that said IP is so I could utilize it, and how do I input it to my phone. I'm thinking that is my last hope. Other than that the chip or antenna are fried somehow-even though it is brand new, and has had a case on it the whole time.

Jun 11, 2012I have an iPhone 4 and it has been using from 10MB to 100MB of my data plan while I'm on a WiFi network. This usually happens at night or when my iPhone is on standby and is killing my 200MB plan.I am almost always on a WiFi network and the most data usage seems to be around 12AM - 6AM. I have just picked up on this when I was out of state and needed to have my 3G on to get good reception (data roaming was off). Before then I usually never had my cellular network on and never had much of a problem.Now i have come home to an AT&T M-Cell. I cannot connect to the M-Cell unless I'm on 3G.
I have read many forums that all say that you need to turn off your data while I'm on a WiFi network. However this is just a work around and not a solution to what is actually using so much data. Has anyone found a better solution or has found an app that will keep a log of what is taking up so much of my data plan?

Jul 6, 2012When I use my phone on Wifi, it works fine for about 10-15 minsutes and then crashes the router that it connects to making the internet on the whole network go down. this happens at home, at other peoples homes, at work or even in public wifi areas like hotels or retail stores (yes I've tried it a few different places)I've tried calling my phone provider a long time ago and they were stumped at this issue but since the wifi technically works the stores refused to do anything on a warranty basis while it was still active. It's not like wifi is a must for me, the internet speed on the torch is still quite slow and I have tons of data on my plan that I don't use but I wouldn't mind getting it fixed so that I can actually turn on my wifi antenna without worrying about crashing everyone's networks.

I have read that removing all remembered Wifi networks works, but this solution is unacceptable to me as I travel a lot and have over a hundred networks remembered in my Google account. I'd rather stop buying Sony products than have to re-enter those networks again.

Aug 25, 2015I got a problem where 2 different wifi networks are available and my N6 is switching between them all the time. Not only does this drain the battery but the other network must be certainly weaker, as the router is far away. In reality this means, that my phone is sometimes 20 sec. without any connection as it tries to switch back and forth. I don't know, why the phone still tries to switch to the network, my guess is that because the weaker network is a certificate-installed (university) network and thus is prioritised. However, is there any way to manage prioritization in lollipop? I know that this was possible in iOS (and also my Mac which had the problem before) and according to my research this was also a possibility in KitKat.
