May 27, 2011I am in Thailand, with a Defy which isnt locked to any carrier. The 2.2 upgrade is now supposed to be available here. I have never been able to access updates directly from the phone - About phone/System updates, says the service is unavailable, whether I connect via 3G or wifi. When I download and run the lastest version of MSU C01.16.10, it tells me "There is no software update currently available for your mobile device. Please check back for new releases." My APflex version is GAS_ASIA_USAJORDANRTINT15_P003. My firmware version is 2.1-update, Am I doing something wrong?

Jun 20, 2011Whenever I check for update I'm told there is an update for the Kindle app but I can't get the update to work on my Defy. The install from the Android Market gets a "Not properly signed" message and the install from the Amazon Appstore just plain gets a "Install failed".
Am I stuck with the old version of the KIndle app because its a system app with Motoblur? Doesn't seem to make much sense to preload an app on a phone in such a way that the app can't be updated!

Jun 15, 2011Ok so after having to replace the earpiece under warranty I thought would risk another outage to my Defy. It was bought sim-free and I use my work SIM in it from Vodafone. So ran through the upgrade, and it worked first time ... until wifi. Wifi does not connect or rather from what I can determine I cannot actually obtain an IP address. For it to actually connect to the hub I have to force the settings to toggle the "Enable Auto IP" setting and manually set the channel to the same as my hub. (not had to do that with any other phone ... ) by the way, this still does not give me a data connectionAlso tried setting a static IP address and related settings and that does not work either Did a factory reset as recommended on the other pages - no avail.My hub runs WPA/WPA2 and I have a variety of devices connecting to it, trouble free, including 2 other Android 2.2 phones (HTC Desire Z and LG Optimus One), Windows XP, Windows 7, PS3 etc etc ... oh and once I had a Defy running 2.1 Eclair connecting trouble free?

I just set up the google account and logged in to Gtalk... again after the phone goes to sleep mode Gtalk gets automatically logged off and hence i dont receive any msg. May 12, 2011I recently upgraded my defy (with optus) to android 2.2 and haven't had many issues.
One thing that bugs me is when i take images with my camera now, they don't appear in the gallery. The small diplay on the bottom left displays the image but as soon as i click on it to view the image it appears to delete it.

Jul 19, 2010Ive been able for a couple years to upgrade and downgrade blackberry device software on various models, both GSM and CDMA. But for some reason I have started getting this error: Microsoft Visual +++ Runtime Library -R6002 Floating Point Not Loaded Then a "fatal error" occurs with the blackberry desktop manager when I am in middle of upgrading OS. This always happens at "uploading ram image" part, just after "connecting to boot Rom" part of update process.I have tried on two different PC's, and tried on multiple devices. I have tried completely wiping the device of its application, and I have tried without wiping OS off. I have tried with desktop manager 5.0.1 and with desktop manager 4.3. I have tried connected to internet, and I have tried without being connected.Nothing seems to prevent this error.Both my PC's are DELL running XP.I would love some help, anybody have any idea what is going on? I need to downgrade some 8330's, and I also just need to reload the OS's on some other phones.

Sep 4, 2011I have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly.This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file.After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.

In my opinion you have ruined my very expensive phone by providing this "upgrade". It seems completely arbitrary on Motorola's part that this is not possible. Feb 25, 2012Ever since updating to 5.9.902 I've been having trouble with wifi showing full strength but only loading websites when it wants to. The reason I know it has something to do with the update is me and my wife both have DROID bionics and I updated about 1 week before she did, and that's when I started having wifi problems. Her phone was still working great, until she updated and that's when her phone started doing the same thing. We have tried 8 different hotspots and still have the same problems. I have also been dropping calls with in the first 10 seconds or so of the call, then call back from same exact spot and talk for 20 minutes with no problems. Verizon customer support said they don't know of this issue, so the lady on the phone connected to the wifi at the call center and had the same issues as me. She said she would have to create a ticket for Motorola to make a fix.

Oct 10, 2011that my Defy is downlading data only over 3G though I have the WLAN connected. It starts its download with WLAN, and after 30 seconds, when the screen is off, it starts or continues the download over 3G and is eating my Data Package.
If I keep the Screen ON, from the Display settings, it uses the WLAN, but as soon as the screen is off it uses the 3G.
