Motorola Atrix HD :: Audio Distortion While Playing Large Movie Files
Jul 20, 2012
With large movie files (greater than 500MB), there is audio distortion while playing during action sequences or loud volume dialog (does not occur with audio files or as far as I can tell smaller video files).
Very happy with my Atrix 4G (running 2.3.4) and I've invested in 3 docks: desk, car, and laptop.
I've recently started having problems when using the phone (on battery) playing audio through a bluetooth speaker. This happens with music on the phone with the default Android music player, with Audible's player (for books), and the Pandora music app. Since that's a mix of local and remote (WiFi) content it can't be a WiFi problem.
The problem does not occur when the phone is powered (via the car or laptop dock).
I've searched high and low for an auto app shutdown setting, but can't find it. BTW, Battery Mode is Performance.
I rented my first movie from the android market today. I downloaded it to view offline. (I haven't had a chance to play the movie yet.) Have to charge up my phone. I was wondering were the file is stored. Neither the internal memory or SD card appear to have used up any space after the download. I know it downloaded, because my data counter widget indicates over 1.5 GB downloaded by the video app to view the movie. (I bought an extra SD card for the purpose of downloading movies so to not take up space.)
I've noticed a small crack on the very top left of my 3GS around the metallic frame that has coincided with a problem with the audio when adding headphones.
I suppose I'm trying to diagnose whether the impact of this crack could have damaged in some way the audio jack to cause audio problems when fully inserting the headphones. If I insert the headphones 1/2 way the audio is as new, but obviously as they're not fully inserted makes it tricky to listen without having to support the jack to provide the connection.
I've tried fully inserting a similar jack linked to my stereo, however, and the audio is as new!?!? I've also tried the headphones out of another iPod to see whether that is causing a problem as well as attempting to clean the jack and blow any dust out but to no avail.
I have Tape-a-Talk files on my Droid Turbo. Some are small. Two are large (120MB +). Those two are not showing up on the Windows Explorer window though all the other tape-a-talk files are showing up.
My widgets on the screen such as shortcuts to turn bluetooth and WiFi on and off seem really large? There doesn't seem to be a way to shrink them down a little?
I just purchased and tested the Miccus Bluetooth Audio receiver. The setup and syncing of the device was easy and successful. However, as soon as I began playing back any media on the phone and outputting the sound via the wireless Bluetooth protocol, I heard very bad static and distorted sound on the stereo, which is connected to the Miccus receiver.I then tested the Miccus receiver on my roommate's 8530 blackberry and the sound was crystal clear! What gives? And could this be a software or hardware issue with the 9650?(phone calls via separate bluetooth headset work fine)
Sending an email with a 60MB attachment through gmail from my phone, Outbox has message as "sending" for over an hour, Do large files sent through gmail require connection to a wireless network or will they send through 3G?
Ever since the wi-fi at my work stopped working (whole separate issue which I still haven't figured out), I noticed my cellular data usage spike up significantly. Now obviously this shouldn't be surprising, as I've had to use cellular data instead of wi-fi, duh. However, all I really used my phone for at work was to check email, and the attachments were set to never automatically downloaded. I started analyzing my AT&T bill and noticed random large chunks of cellular data usage: 3-4 mb during the middle of the night, 15mb during the day, etc. The other day, my phone transferred nearly 40mb for 3 hours straight! I called up AT&T tech support, and they eventually put me all the way to Motorola second tier support, and yet no one could tell me what was going on. All they could tell me was that Android phones normally transfer data here and there in order to sync. BS -- the only account I have on sync is my gmail email and work calender. I have ZERO social applications set up with Motoblur.
After 3 hours on tech support, I gave up and decided to start toggling some settings. I turned on "Sync over Wi-Fi only" for data delivery of social applications, and this seems to have fixed it. The past two days my AT&T usage logs only show a few KB here and there. My battery also seems to last longer now, as it's not being forced to transfer data over 3G/4G for hours on end! Since I had no social applications set up with Motoblur, this makes no sense. Why would it still need to be transferring that much data??? Anyone else experience this? I wonder if someone at Motorola technical support could tell me exactly what was being sent to Motoblur.
I would think it is a problem in my settings but dont know enough to know what it would be. Pandora use to play all of the time in the beginning but about 3 weeks ago it would play 4-6 songs then stop. I would have to shut it down and bring it back up to get it going again. I uninstalled/reinstalled it yesterday and now it will stop on the first song. I thought it might be Pandora but it is doing the same thing on audio podcasts.
I can play my MP4 files using Zumocast, but not my M4V files. I see that M4V's are supported, so there must be something I'm doing when encoding them (I use Handbrake and the Apple TV preset). Is there any way to tell what it doesn't like abou them?
My corporate voicemails are emailed as .wav file attachments. These .wav files played perfectly on my old droid x and play perfectly on my xoom. why they won't they play on my bionic? I used the stock music app on my droid x, double twist also worked. Double twist works great on my xoom tablet. Music nor double twist nor winamp work on my bionic.
Double Twist Error:
"Sorry the player does not support this type of audio file."
No Error with Music or Winamp, the file just does not play.
We just purchased a couple Atrix phones and we updated the droid software. My wife's phone, when playing back a camcordeded video and using the vlingo, the volumn is very faint. Her ringtone is loud and clear and everything else is the same.
Granted I am using Good Technologie's email client for work, but i get wav file attachments for all VM's left for me @ work via email.
I used to be able to just play them on the D2 with Froyo, but it looks like the GB version of the stock player for D3 doesn't play wav files...is this right??
I don't know what happened but suddenly my sound stopped working, the Alarms still work and so does the Ringer, but everything else stopped. If I plug in a headset it works, but while cooking in my kitchen at wired headset can lead to drops and damage. This issue only started a few days ago.
For some reason, walking to my car this morning, my Atrix began to play an audiobook file (MP3). One that I had listened to days ago.
After months of using the phone and happily listening to audio books this issue has just occured this morning.
I swiped open the phone only to find that the (stock) music player was not actually running. Have not been able to find a way to stop the file(s) from playing.
Observations:
1. rebooting the phone simply restarts the playback of the file from its begining.
2. When the phone is sleeping (screen black), I have no control of the volume (as I would using media player)
3. If I swipe the phone to vibrate or silent, the playback goes silent (though I believe it continues playing)
4. I don't believe I have any ther media players installed.
5. Attempting to play a file in the (stock) music player, results in the file trying to play (the slider moves left to right), but only the audiobook is audible.
6. Have tried cycling power, removing battery, and ManageApps->clearing cache, and even uninstalling a number of downloaded apps - nothing helps.
7. I don't believe my phone vibrates any longer when I receive a notification for incoming text or email.
I just sent myself a ringtone, but couldn't find the option to save it as a ringtone, only to play it or save it as a sound. I looked at some other audio files in my inbox and saw that some of them did have "Save as Ringtone" and "Set as Caller ID." Is this because of the file type? The only file that seems to work is an mp3. The file I sent was an mp3, but my phone is telling me it's an aac. Are there any other file types I can send it as? I attached the ringtone.
I have the Bionic and have loaded Zumocast on my laptop and my desktop. My desktop music library is a few thousand song files in one folder. I get to listen to them using the random button on my Bionic with no problems. I have started Ripping all my music CDs to my laptop. They are stored in the Music file, the a sub file for each artist, then a sub album for each album, then the individual files. I must open each folder down to the album folder to listen to my laptop music. This means I can not use random and listen to all my files of all albums. My question is obviously, How can I listen to all the files without manually opening each folder to access them? Can Zumocast do this, or can you suggest a way for me to group all the music in one big playlist to access with Zumocast?
I'm having problems playing my .mp4 files on my TV using the HDMI output option. The mirroring keeps blacking out and coming back in. It's almost not woth watching a movie because of it. Why this would be happening? Is it an issue with the OS? i need this to work or I will be buying an iPad2.........which I don't want to do!!
After upgrading to Gingerbread I'm noticing that playing music via media players causes my Atrix to either lock up or spontaneously reboot. This is happening even after a factory reset. This had so far occured with Winamp (which I haven't reinstalled since my factory reset), Amazon MP3 and Google Music Beta. This has occured both while I was listening to the music on my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone ICON) and also just playing it back via the built-in speaker.
I just got my Atrix 2 yesterday in hopes of it replacing my iPod touch as a music and phone device.I loaded up my stuff and went to my car to test it out (obviously through the headphone jack) and I was dramatically disappointed. I went straight to Amazon to look at the price of the latest iPod model! Sounds like a muffled tape deck. There are just plain out frequencies that are muffled or missing on the Atrix 2. Does not take a good ear to hear it either. I wish I could sit down with every person who looks at this or a Motorola engineer to show them.
How do I get in-call audio to play on my car speakers? If I plug in Car AUX to the headphone jack, in-call audio and music both play over the speakers... however if my Atrix is in the craddle, music plays over the speakers, but calls are in speaker-phone mode through the phone speakers.
When I make a normal skype to skype call I can't hear the other persons voice. Yesterday, I could hear on switching on the speaker but after doing a factory reset I can't hear any sound. Mic is working fine as the person on the other end can hear me properly. Is this a handset fault or normal with motorola ATRIX.
I have a 2010 Mazda Speed 3 and I hear this is a common problem. Phone calls are fine but media playback has a 3 second delay with Bluetooth in the car. I don't have this problem with other Bluetooth speakers or ear pieces. Is this delay a common problem for vehicles or is it just MY vehicle?
I'm trying to record video. I'm getting some nice image quality, but almost no sound. The audio is extremely muffled. I have my playback volume as high as it will go, and still can just barely hear anything. I can use Tango and make phone calls just fine, so it seems that my mic is working. The only time I've noticed the problem is when I'm trying to record a video. Even if the person I'm recording is standing right in front of my and speaking in a loud, clear voice, I can't hear much in the recorded video.
