My new Atrix 2 will randomly lose signal. It will have 2-3 bars and show 4g but every night and randomly through the day I will look and there is no signal with the circle and line through it. I have to power the phone off and back on to regain. I went to AT&T on Thursday and got a new SIM as suggested. I have only had the phone since Wednesday. I have 2 other Atrix ( not 2's ) in the house and they have no issues.
View 5 RepliesI've had my ATRIX 2 about a week now, and the USB Mass Storage option for the USB connection has only actually worked two or three times of all the times I have connected my phone. The Windows Media Sync and Motorola Phone Portal settings usually (but not always) do work. I've tried just about every combination of installing/reinstalling drivers, trying different cables/ports, restarting the computer/phone, etc., but nothing works consistently.I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on my computer, but I'm pretty sure the problem is the phone since no changes on my computer affect the connection.
Totally aside from manually moving files to or from the phone, the Mass Storage option is the only one that works with any of the methods I have to sync my old iPhone playlists to my new phone (Motorola Media Link, Winamp, iTunes agent).Does anyone have any idea why this wouldn't be working consistently for me?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI've had the phone for around two weeks and so far about every few days I get the "unable to connect" notification regarding my corporate sync account through Motoblur. The latest incident was this morning. When I woke up I noticed that I didn't have the indicator light blinking on the outside of the phone when I know that I should've received e-mails throughout the night. When I went to go check it, I got the spinning circle for a minute or two and then "unable to connect" or whatever the connection error says. In this instance I was connected to my wireless network at home and my web browser was moving along very quickly so I know it wasn't the means to connect to my mail server that was the problem. Simply shutting off my phone and restarting fixed the connection issue this morning. The time before that, I received the error and then left the phone on my desk for about 20 minutes and it reconnected itself.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI believe that there is a problem with the Atrix network stack. When operating at home (Lapdock or HD dock or stand-alone) I prefer to use the local WiFi connection (because the cellular signal is useless for data here on the _9th_floor_ (thanks T-Mobile UK).
However:
1/ On its own the Atrix does not properly switch to _use_ WiFi- it tries to use either WiFi or GPRS/3G/HSPA from time to time. This does not work well (read the reviews that say that the Lapdock is slow and I think that this is the problem being reported);
2/ I installed Juicedefender which is free and which switches OFF the GPRS/3G/HSPA radio when WiFi is being used:
BUT - then I notice that the WiFi data stream stops after about 90s and only re-starts after either several minutes have elapsed _or_ I switch off and on again the WiFi radio. VERY POOR. Worse, on checking with my router, the ATRIX remains _connected_ to the WiFi network at all times - so this is the internal software losing contact with the active network interface.
An iPhone 4 (A1332) has the following problem:Â When you wake it (causing the screen to light up & come on) it shows full strength (all bars) in the upper left corner.
Over the course of a minute, the bars decrease until it says "searching" and finally "no service"Â .If you let the phone sit by itself for a few minutes and then pick it up again, the signal bars are back. But then they dwindle away again. You can make a call if you dial it fast enough (before the signal bars disappear).People have noted that they called me and it did not ring or go through.Â
What I've tried: Contacted T-mobile several times. They assure their network is working fine. Others do not seem to have coverage problems in the same area.Â

One was the fact I couldn't play Facebook videos over 3G or 4G without getting the unknown error message which I've finally solved by downloading and enabling psiphon VPN connection mode! The other is when I enable 4G I can have it on for like 30 minutes after that my phone tends to lose all signal; meaning no texts or calls and no Internet based activity (unless on WiFi) until a restart of the phone which tends to solve the problem.

View 1 Replies View Relatedme and my brother use this nokia n8 for internet browsing, camera, and gaming.recently, i realized that the phone loses wifi signal when i hold it in landscape mode. when the phone is in portrait mode, the signal range shows 20-35%, but when i tilt the phone to landscape, the signal drops to 2-6%. it's funny when i'm watching videos on Internet, because i have to tilt my head instead of the phone and i can't use the advantage of the full stretched keyboard - with the tiny keyboard which is designed for one hand operation, i as a quicktyper have to correct every second word that i write.

Also when it does switch to Edge the AT&T in the upper left goes away for as much as 5 seconds--and during that time the phone has nothing at all--and does the sam thing when it comes back. I would like to hear from someone that is using an Atrix HD phone that is at least 1 1/2 miles from a tower and find what kind of reception you are getting before I spend $450.00 to purchase this phone and find that I am know better than with the Iphone.

The current signal strength readings are: -113 dB, ecno: -18, rat: 3g. At the AT&T store, which is right next to a cell tower, their demo Atrix has -52 dB signal, while mine varies between -62 dB and -88 dB. They tell me not to worry about the signal strength unless I'm dropping calls, but conversations are often unintelligible even though they're not dropped.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe WiFi and celluar signal icons will occasionally turn grey for a minute, and then go back to blue.I thought that this meant there was a loss of connectivity, however when the icons turn grey I can still connect to the Internet and the signal bars always indicate a strong signal when this happens. I suppose it's possible that connectivity was actually lost for a moment, and it may take the icons a few seconds to update back to the blue color again, hard to say.

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have any recommendations to improve the reception (and thus prevent excessively frequent dropped calls) while using my Atrix 4G in a fringe reception area outside of San Diego?Some background info:I had an AT&T Nokia 6030 for almost five (5) years before upgrading my service to the Atrix.I live and work from the same location, which has not changed during those five years.I did not encounter the problems of dropping calls on the Nokia 6030. I routinely call the very same people at aproxmately the very same times and days of the week with the very same phone numbers from the very same locations in my home and shop... sitting in my office desk chair, standing at my shop workbench, seated at my kitchen table, lying on my bed... and as far as I can telI, nothing on my end or on the other person's end has changed... phone numbers, land or mobile, calling patterns... but ever since I upgraded to the Atrix, I've had this problem consistently from the very first day.
I contacted AT&T many times, and they sent a warranty replacement phone; same resulting performance.The signal strength meter on the phone typically reads 2-3 bars in this area, which AT&T says should be sufficient.)It is so touchy and position/orientation sensitive that I can often drop the call from simply turning my head, or if lying in bed at night, switching the phAT&T went through the entire customer service/tech support gamut with me:Power down recycle, remove & reinstall the battery, replace the original SIM card that came with the Nokia (which still works flawlessly under identical circumstances if I put the SIM card back into it!), run network diagnostics on the tower equipment... they even sent out a crew of field engineers to the property to assess the signal characteristics.
After months of evaluation by the engineering department, they finally determined that the San Diego area is very high in signal strength, and the problem is due to the immediate area where I am located... hills, valleys, canyons, etc. There was nothing more that they could do. That was simply the level of performance I had to accept from this phone in this location. (Sorry.)I still don't know why the primitive technology in that old Nokia doesn't miss a beat. I find it hard to accept that the flagship product with advanced technology can't perform anywhere near as well as this dated Nokia.But I like the Atrix so much in every other way, I would even pay for a stationary antenna and/or signal conditioning/amplification equipment at my location to be able to use it here.
I have not found any such equipment offered for sale by either Motorola or AT&T listed on their websites. I know that there are aftermarket companies that sell such items, but I would really like to know if anyone has any specific experience with those items, particularly when used with the Atrix, or at least any reason to advise in one way or another toward a solution.
My atrix will have the white "syncing" bars for hours on end, and when i restart my phone the bars will immediatly starts up again. And while this is happening i cannot access any form of internet (browser, apps, market, native mail app)

It sometimes says that there is no service, and when there is service available it just doesn't work.I can't call, sms, or receive calls or sms.I called my service provider (Telcel Mexico) and everything seems to be in order.If I put my chip into my old phone I can make/receive calls and sms no problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Atrix was working just fine for the past month, and this morning all of a sudden I'm not getting ANY signal/reception. I can't make phone calls nor send texts. Sometimes the signal comes back but it's just for 2 or 3 minutes and then the signal is completely gone again. When I plug the SIM card into another phone it works just fine so that rules out AT&T's problem. Wi-fi works just fine. I factory reset the phone but the problem still exists. I am already out of the 30-day return/exchange policy, what can I do? Is this problem going to be fixed for the next update?

View 1 Replies View RelatedPeriodically the screen will lock up on my Xyboard. It is not a system crash/lock. This is where the screen stops reacting to touch. Usually putting it in sleep mode with the power button and then waking it clears the problem. Other times it requires a hard reset -- hold power and volume down.
I've had this issue twice on my RAZR since I got it in December. I've had it happen at least 5 times on my Xyboard since I got it Feb 1st.
I have a wifi only xoom and during use roughly about once an hour or sometimes more frequent) the xoom stops acivity. Web searching/browsing just comes to a halt and eventually there is a message saying that there is no internet connectivity.owever the icon at the bottom right of the screen shows an excellent signal. am wondering if the problem is the internet service provider or wifi router or if the problem is with the xoom. Is this usual or is something wrong here?

I have found that there seems to be no correlation between the signal strength (in dBm / asu) in Settings -> About phone -> Status and the signal bars that are shown. Often the signal bars will shoot from 1 to 5 or 6 even with really low signal ( ~97 to > 100 dBm) that doesn't fluctuate.
