My phone has been rooted for ages, and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the fact that I download the ICS update, reboot when prompted, and when phone boots up again, I get message box saying "Software Update Failed."
I recently unlocked the bootloader and rooted my Nexus 6P and just this evening received an update for the November Security Update. This downloads fine but when the phone reboots to install, it just goes to TWRP and doesn't install.
This is most likely incredibly simple and stupid for me even to ask, but is it possible to install one I've unlocked/rooted?
i decided to root my XPeria play and i didn't know what would be the outcome of it. Since im use to iOS i though it would install something similiar to Cydia. Well, it didn't and i checked if it had any updates and there was. So it did all of its download process and installing but it told me in the end ''Error: Update Failed''. and so i tried PC Companion and that didn't work either. So im in need of removing the ROOT out of my phone and installing a new software update on it. Currently, im on version 2.3.3.
Is their a way to update while being rooted, and keep the data. I am thinking that after I lock the phone and update it, and re root it, that my phone will be wiped completely
I've got an odd issue with Nexus 5. I had previously rooted under KitKat, and then decided to update to Lollipop. I used the adb sideload to push the OTA update onto the phone. It appears that in the update I lost my root (not the real issue) and everything with Lollipop seems fine. Something in my device claims that it's still rooted (even though every root checker says I'm not). I utilize the Good for Enterprise app and it's telling me that I'm not in compliance and keeps wiping my account (after setting it up again with my IT group). IT claims I'm rooted since it's wiping, but like I said every root checker says that I'm not. What I find weird is apps like Solid Explorer and Helium "think" I'm rooted for a brief second, but don't let me do anything that having root would let me do. (helium reverts to non-root after saying there was an error executing Superuser and solid explorer asks me to install BusyBox).
IIRC just factory wiping the device wouldn't get rid of root. Do I root again and then try to unroot? Do I try something else? Basically I don't need/want root, but I obviously want my Good for Enterprise to work correctly. I can always push the factory image onto the phone using ADB if that would work. I can backup most of my apps and such with Helium and start over without it being a huge deal but I'm concerned even that wouldn't work.
I got this phone as a gift, an SM-G920F. And it already has SuperSU in it when I got it. Which means it's already rooted if I'm not mistaken. I'm liking the phone and hoping to know more about it.
Anyway I discovered that you can only change the media volume with the rockers when a video or music is playing. And it defaults to ringtone otherwise. Same thing happens when the media pauses in the middle of playback. But I never change my ringtone volume. It's either on, off, or vibrate.
So I browsed the web for fixes. And found this app called Rocker Locker. I tried it but it was a huge battery drain, so it wasn't a permanent fix. I also found out that this behavior was changed in Marshmallow. Having the rockers change media volume by default.
Tried to check for OTA updates. But it said something about phone being modified. Which was lucky, because I've also read not to take OTA updates while rooted.
Long story short. How do I update from Lollipop to Marshmallow in a rooted phone?
I left my phone on over night and it downloaded a January security update. I'm on systemless root, is this thing safe to install? Here's a screen I took.
Just notice my phone just prompted new update 4.3.13 available for download. My existing version is 4.3.10 Anyone know what are the updates in 4.3.13.My phone is from Singtel - Singapore, non-rooted, original rom.
I have rooted and installed TWRP in my nexus 6p and now I have received the OTA update but I can't install it. How can I install it without losing my data?
Has anyone with the XT701 tried booting into recovery and applying the milestone_root.zip as update.zip? I'd be interested in knowing whether or not the conventional Milestone rooting method works with the XT701. If anyone has tried this, please post your results.
I was wondering if there was any word on the first/newest software update to the Motorola Atrix 2? I love this phone. I also loved the original Atrix, but with so many software issues on their latest update, and much complaining to AT&T that since Mototola's fix was to say forget it and make the Atrix 2, that should be my fix...I got AT&T to give me the Atrix 2 for free!!.Like I said I like this phone just as much as the original Iphone. So when I went in for my upgrade in August, instead of getting the Iphone 4 like everyone (and knowing the I4S was around the corner) I wanted something different. I get new phones all the time. The Atrix and Atrix 2 have been my favorites. I've had 0 issues. So if anyone knows if theres any software updates in the works, which im sure I get automatically anyway, let me know!
I have a Middle East Region Motorola Atrix with froyo 2.2.2 As Gingerbread is released in US few days back so Can anybody tell me when NON US ATRIX phones are supposed to be updated to Gingerbread and do i have to update it through Software update tool or OTA update.
Yesterday I downloaded and installed the gingerbread update. Following instructions I changed the usb mode to whatever the setting was that I needed to complete the update via computer file transfer (mass storage mode?). After completing the update I sat and played with all the shiney new features until my battery died (oops) and now I can't charge my phone because I can't power it on long enough to change the usb mode back to "none" or whatever. Is there a way to override this or externally change this? Prior to the update the usb would default back to charging mode if the battery died, I am happy about the updates, but this issue is a HUGE problem. I hadn't installed the usb driver on my computer to charge via usb connection, and the phone needs to be turned on in order to initialize thisdriver, so I can't even charge that way. If there is no way to externally change this setting, what in the world am I supposed to do to get my phone to turn back on?
Since I updated to the Gingerbread operating system the phone does not recognize the USB to charge and the pc is telling me that it cannot recognize the device either. I have tried to update drivers, but that has not worked.
After the battery died, the phone would flash on the Motoblur screen for a few seconds. Eventually (after more than 12 hours of the flashing on and off screen) it did charge up, but I don't know how to keep it charged and I cannot connect or sync with the computer. It is not the cable, as I have the same issue with the car charger connected.
I was able to do a External Reset, but it still has the same issue. AT&T doesn't know anything about it and has offered no solution. What should I do? Everything was working fine before the update. Is there any way to restore the old operating system?
I had a phone update at around 10:00 P.M. on my Atrix 2. After installing the update, my phone auto re started. Since then it keeps turning on then off over and over and over. When I do manage to manually power down and start it back up I have no service and cannot call or text. My WiFi seems to work but thats about it? Is anyone else having this problem? What can I to solve this problem?
I received notification for updating 9 applications and finished with 3 of them. I closed the list of applications to check my settings. How do I get back to the list of applications that need to be updated?
I try to update the phone by installing and running the Motorola Update Manager (I don't have wifi), after I start the process on Vista Update Manager found the update, downloaded it and start the update process. At 50% of the last step (I don't recall the name) the phone rebooted itself which I think it was part of the process. After restart windows give me a message "qhsusb_dload" windows cannot find the drive! So windows fail to recognize the device and phone gives me"Modem did not power UP (0) Starting RSD protocol support" with Motorola logo in background.
I tried resetting the phone to factory setting in recovery console and it fails.I tried running the update few different times with same resultContacted Motorola customer support, factory rest: FAIL.The only way I can start the phone is with choosing "Boot Android (No BP)" in recovery console. by doing that I can start the phone and load the motoblur and... there is no App installed on the phone and everything in the phone is rested already. When I check my phone status after booting by "Boot Android (No BP)" I see:IMEI: Unknow; IMEI SV: unknown; Baseband version: unknown; Build number: OLYFR_U4_1.8.3ystem version: 4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.USMotorola WebTop version: OHWT_U1_4.257.30AT&T said that they are going send me a new phone and for now I'm using my old BlackBerry. I'm posting this to see if you guys have any suggestion/idea before I get my new phone
I completed an update on my Atrix on Monday morning. Since then I have not been able to view my pictures that I took before the update. Some of my music files will not play or are no longer visible. I do not have the option to set up the facelock option, I also do not appear to have a phonebook any longer. Was my update incomplete? Is something wrong with my memory/micro SD card? Or is something else wrong with my phone?
I lost my contacts with the update. I thought that I could use Motorala Media Link to sync the contacts with my PC (Windows 7) with Windows Live mail. Media Link does not show Contacts in its list.
Running 4.1.83 update. Prior to this update, Skype didn't work at all. Just static for the folks I was trying to talk to. I just removed Skype. After the update I re-installed, Skype and great, it works. It's important as I talk to a friend in South Africa fairly frequently. Then I started noticing reboots / crashes. Phone just restarts, big old Red M logo advertises the fact the phone has just fell over and is restarting. I think I'm noticing a pattern. I've started leaving Skype running in background so I can get incoming calls from my South African friend. Every time that I've noticed a reboot, Skype was running. It could also be related to poor signal strength. By the way, I'm using Skype over my WAN data, not Wifi. Is there a way to get a crash log from the system.
So i download an update for about 4 hours, it crashes at least twice in the process, and then when everything is finally working, I notice my contacts are completely gone. The ones that sync from facebook are fine, but I don't care about those. Lots of them are gone though. I have no idea what they were saved in before. What account... etc. This happened last time i updated the system, but i had my old phone so i just went to at&t and had them add them all. i didn't think it would happen again, but IT DID!
how long the software update v55.13.25 is supposed to take to download? Even though my phone has been consistently connected to wifi, it still hasn't downloaded.
I installed the OTA 2.3.6 update last night and now my phone never shuts the screen off automatically. I've tried resetting the timeout period, but no luck. Something is keep it awake after the update.
I'm currently using software version 2.3.6 (GINGERBREAD) and my phone keeps telling me that my phone is ready to update to 67.21.125.en.US (ICE CREAM SANDWICH - US). I am able to download it, and when it restarts my phone the little android unpacking symbol shows up like it is installing just fine. When it finishes all the normal startup screens are displayed, but when the phone is ready to use, it says update failed. I'm not sure why this is happening. I've tried it while charging, while not charging, while on WIFI, while using only cell data, while in airplain mode, and every other way I can think of. Motorolla even lists it as being available to update as of October 12th this year, but I'm still not able to get it working.
i have a stock AT&T Atrix shipping version Blur_Version.4.1.26.MB860.ATT.en.US. im planning to SIM unlock it and send it to the Philippines. Is it possible to update to version Blur_Version.4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US to Blur_Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US and to Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US here in the Philippines? what should I do?
My Atrix has been acting very unstable ever since the 2.3.4 update. It reboots everytime when the phone is connected to the HD dock or PC via the USB port during a phone call
