Jan 8, 2016I left my phone on over night and it downloaded a January security update. I'm on systemless root, is this thing safe to install? Here's a screen I took.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently unlocked the bootloader and rooted my Nexus 6P and just this evening received an update for the November Security Update. This downloads fine but when the phone reboots to install, it just goes to TWRP and doesn't install.
This is most likely incredibly simple and stupid for me even to ask, but is it possible to install one I've unlocked/rooted?
Is their a way to update while being rooted, and keep the data. I am thinking that after I lock the phone and update it, and re root it, that my phone will be wiped completely

View 10 Replies View RelatedA new update is out for the 6p with monthly security updates. I have two questions:
1. I'm assuming Google is going to break systemless root. Does this update do that or does it still work?
2. Now that we're seeing monthly updates, keeping root is going to be difficult.
My N5 receive the Security Patch from Google via OTA. But i use custom recovery (TWRP) and because this, the update don't install.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted N5 and im running 6.0 build MRA58K and continue to get prompted to install a security update. My question is, is it safe to install this update, will i lose root or have to reroot? If i "unroot" the system with supersu and then install it after, would that work too? Also i would like to update my kernel to the newest version. Im running blu_spark build #30. Would i just reflash the kernel or do i have to jump through hoops by reflashing the rom first? I dont remember how it works.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow to be able to get snapchat working if they are rooted? I've tried the rootcloak xposed modules and snapprefs but still can't get through. So many of my friends use snap chat I don't want to completely avoid it.
I did not have this problem with my rooted Z3c so not totally sure what's wrong.
Rooted and seeing this on 6p? I unlocked this phone, installed TWRP, and then installed the N6PanglerM ROM. When an app request root, I see the box appear and I can grant or deny, same as always. But in my app drawer, there is no listing for SuperSU. When I go to the Play store and look at SuperSU, it says installed but the Open and Uninstall buttons are both missing.
How I can get the SuperSU app to be visible?
After i unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone, everytime i boot up my phone i have this msg and then the phone start, how do i get rid of this msg?

Ever since activating my Nexus 6P the Google app has set itself to have safe search on and will not let me turn it off. From the Google settings page on from a browser it shows that it should be off for my account. I cannot change this for some reason.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running stock 6.0.1 rooted with Xposed (only using gravitybox). When I do the double tap on power to launch the camera, nothing happens other than the power button functioning normally. It did work at one point but I'm not sure if it was an app, Xposed or a system setting which stopped this feature from working. I tried disabling Gravitybox but left Xposed itself still installed. I've also tried changing the "Power buttons locks instantly" setting under Security but that didn't make any difference either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 5 is rooted and running Stock ROM 5.1.1 and Franco kernel . I have xposed framework installed and use many xposed modules.
What is the easiest way to upgrade to marshmallow with minimum fuss ,prefrebly with Wugs nexus root toolkit. I also want to root the nexus on marshmallow and install xposed .
I am on a stock rooted Nexus 5 (with TWRP). I want to install a custom rom; however, I would like to do a clean install of the custom rom (making sure no files/settings of my previous installations are left if that makes sense). What's the best way to go about this? Does it mean I have to install both the custom rom and the recovery again in order to do a clean install?

So long story short, I restored a backup after wiping my device, and I forgot to take the pattern lock off before backing up. No pattern I entered worked. I tried a bunch of things, and eventually I found a flashable zip that let me in, but now if I try to switch the lockscreen type from Swipe it crashes as soon as I press the button to load the different lockscreen types. Also, it crashes when I try to look at fingerprints.
I made a dumb mistake that I'd like to correct. I've tried flashing the factory image (without wipe) and tried flashing stock gapps. I'm thinking maybe there is a flashable lockscreen zip, but I haven't found anything. Is it possible to extract the lockscreen from a working 6P so I can flash it?
Is it possible to get updates for Nexus phone after rooting it?
I am planning to root my Nexus mobile.
I've got an odd issue with Nexus 5. I had previously rooted under KitKat, and then decided to update to Lollipop. I used the adb sideload to push the OTA update onto the phone. It appears that in the update I lost my root (not the real issue) and everything with Lollipop seems fine. Something in my device claims that it's still rooted (even though every root checker says I'm not). I utilize the Good for Enterprise app and it's telling me that I'm not in compliance and keeps wiping my account (after setting it up again with my IT group). IT claims I'm rooted since it's wiping, but like I said every root checker says that I'm not. What I find weird is apps like Solid Explorer and Helium "think" I'm rooted for a brief second, but don't let me do anything that having root would let me do. (helium reverts to non-root after saying there was an error executing Superuser and solid explorer asks me to install BusyBox).
IIRC just factory wiping the device wouldn't get rid of root. Do I root again and then try to unroot? Do I try something else? Basically I don't need/want root, but I obviously want my Good for Enterprise to work correctly. I can always push the factory image onto the phone using ADB if that would work. I can backup most of my apps and such with Helium and start over without it being a huge deal but I'm concerned even that wouldn't work.
Everytime I try to install 6.0.1, when it restarts my phone, I get an error message during boot. I am unable to install 6.0.1 OTA.
My phone has bootloader unlocked and rooted. I have tried restarting the phone and clearing out the cache.
Just got my Gold nexus 6p yesterday and i cant install apks that are not from the play store and even if i try to send them via bluetooth it doesn't work. I'm bootloader unlocked, twrp installed, rooted (systemless root) and decrypted and also "unknown sources" is turned on in settings. I cant install some app cos of this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to do a complete re install of pure nexus ROM and elemental because I believe I have some issues mainly on my SD card so want to wipe this also. What's the steps to do so? I only have my work laptop also so can't adb anything. Do I just download ROM etc put on laptop, wipe all on phone, then transfer ROM, gapps etc back to phone then reboot to recovery and go from there?
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo, last night I was messing around with some custom roms, and tried installing CM, I accidentally installed CM recovery as the boot img, and tried to backup from my backup file that I created via TWRP.
Now, when restoring i get into a bootloop, i think, and if I'm trying to install a custom ROM i either get a status 7 error or it can mount /system. I tried going into the Mount tab in TWRP and checking the system check-box, but it won't let me.
Can I install Xposed Framework with a Systemless Root method (even if it edits /system)?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 is rooted and in the past OTA updates have always worked just fine. I don't use a custom recovery. However, the November Android security update fails. I was thinking this was because BBS was installed as a system app. After uninstalling that it still doesn't work. The only other thing I use is Adaway, so I reverted back to the original hostfile and also uninstalled BusyBox. Still no dice. Or is it perhaps Marshmallow OTA updates simply won't work if the phone is rooted? How come in the past I've been able to do OTA updates with my phone being rooted?
What can I do to get the update? Does that mean I have to basically lose my user data every month to do an OTA update now and reroot my device
If I root phone would I still get update over OTA or when I root it I can put recovery and flash it trough there?
