Is their a way to update while being rooted, and keep the data. I am thinking that after I lock the phone and update it, and re root it, that my phone will be wiped completely

View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently unlocked the bootloader and rooted my Nexus 6P and just this evening received an update for the November Security Update. This downloads fine but when the phone reboots to install, it just goes to TWRP and doesn't install.
This is most likely incredibly simple and stupid for me even to ask, but is it possible to install one I've unlocked/rooted?
I am currently on stock rom but rooted. An Ota update popped up can I update without bootloop....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that when my phone was sitting still the screen would randomly turn on, not just to the ambident display screen but to the lockscreen. I realized it was happening anytime the phone lost its data connection and had to reconnect. I can replicate it by turning airplane mode on then off and immediately turning the screen off with the power button. After about 5 seconds, the screen turns on again on its own. I've tried disabling ambient display, daydream, tasker, and bluetooth, but it still happens. I have unlocked the bootloader and changed the dpi but everything else is stock, no root.

Rooted and seeing this on 6p? I unlocked this phone, installed TWRP, and then installed the N6PanglerM ROM. When an app request root, I see the box appear and I can grant or deny, same as always. But in my app drawer, there is no listing for SuperSU. When I go to the Play store and look at SuperSU, it says installed but the Open and Uninstall buttons are both missing.
How I can get the SuperSU app to be visible?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSnapchat is not working right after I tried to use snaprefs to upload a pic, I cleared app data to get snaprefs working! I did softreboot a few times, then when I tried logging in snapchat I wasn't able to.. I got a pop up saying

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm running stock 6.0.1 rooted with Xposed (only using gravitybox). When I do the double tap on power to launch the camera, nothing happens other than the power button functioning normally. It did work at one point but I'm not sure if it was an app, Xposed or a system setting which stopped this feature from working. I tried disabling Gravitybox but left Xposed itself still installed. I've also tried changing the "Power buttons locks instantly" setting under Security but that didn't make any difference either.

I am planning to root my Nexus mobile.
I've got an odd issue with Nexus 5. I had previously rooted under KitKat, and then decided to update to Lollipop. I used the adb sideload to push the OTA update onto the phone. It appears that in the update I lost my root (not the real issue) and everything with Lollipop seems fine. Something in my device claims that it's still rooted (even though every root checker says I'm not). I utilize the Good for Enterprise app and it's telling me that I'm not in compliance and keeps wiping my account (after setting it up again with my IT group). IT claims I'm rooted since it's wiping, but like I said every root checker says that I'm not. What I find weird is apps like Solid Explorer and Helium "think" I'm rooted for a brief second, but don't let me do anything that having root would let me do. (helium reverts to non-root after saying there was an error executing Superuser and solid explorer asks me to install BusyBox).
IIRC just factory wiping the device wouldn't get rid of root. Do I root again and then try to unroot? Do I try something else? Basically I don't need/want root, but I obviously want my Good for Enterprise to work correctly. I can always push the factory image onto the phone using ADB if that would work. I can backup most of my apps and such with Helium and start over without it being a huge deal but I'm concerned even that wouldn't work.
Is there a way to root the nexus 6 without losing your data?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I recently got my Nexus 5, switched as an avid Blackberry user (of the last 12 years, and 6 devices!) So far I LOVE the Nexus 5, and Android OS I think I should have been made the switch earlier. As soon as I got my phone and activated with my existing T-Mobile SIM, everything was working fine, except the Mobile DATA Network wouldn't work (only would work via wi-fi.) I called T-MO Tech Support 3-4 times, and after doing a factory reset, everything was back to working GREAT!
Now, 1 week later the Data Network stopped working AGAIN (I can make and receive calls, and text messages, however no Internet via Mobile Network.) I didn't change any settings or anything.. Again, I called t-mobile and they tried EVERYTHING (reset APN Settings, checked APN, Protocol, etc..) The last thing they asked me to do again was a factory reset, and once again everything seems to be working fine.
My question is: Why it keeps occurring? I don't use very many apps (FB, IG, WhatsApp, Weather, &Twitter only.) T-Mo was suggesting it could be an app causing this issue but I doubt it.
I've been on the Pure Nexus rom for a while now and I wanted to try out the Screw'd Rom. So I downloaded and installed said rom. When It boots up and goes to the setup wizard I get no network data what so ever. I looked through the thread and it said to also flash the update vendor.zip. I did that hoping it would bring back my data but it didn't. So I decided to go back to the Pure Nexus rom, clean install, and again I have no network data. What I could do to get it back? I've tried messing with the APN settings but no dice. I should have made a back up before switching roms but unfortunately I forgot to do so.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI don't get my Nexus 6P shown as a drive on Windows 10. I've installed the Google Drivers. Also I have the adb and fastboot driver. USB Debugging is enabled. When I switch to MTP, nothing happens. When I change to PTP my Nexus gets a mark in the device list but I can't install any driver manually. Even when I navigate to the location where the google drivers are located.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to disable the data usage warning? I'm aware that I can just set the limit to a ridiculous amount and it will stop going off, but that's not what I'm looking for. I guess I'm just easily annoyed by the fact that there is no setting to turn this off. You can uncheck the box for "set data limit" but that still doesn't get rid of the warning.
