View 2 Repliesi have followed all the steps using NRT to unlock boot-loader and root the phone.
Installed TWRT manager and flashed the recovery.
Now i am trying to flash CM12 for the first time and stuck with error message "can't install this package on top of incompatible data" during flashing .
downloaded the following flash zip from CM website: cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip (281.77 MB)
I am on a stock rooted Nexus 5 (with TWRP). I want to install a custom rom; however, I would like to do a clean install of the custom rom (making sure no files/settings of my previous installations are left if that makes sense). What's the best way to go about this? Does it mean I have to install both the custom rom and the recovery again in order to do a clean install?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I recently got my Nexus 5, switched as an avid Blackberry user (of the last 12 years, and 6 devices!) So far I LOVE the Nexus 5, and Android OS I think I should have been made the switch earlier. As soon as I got my phone and activated with my existing T-Mobile SIM, everything was working fine, except the Mobile DATA Network wouldn't work (only would work via wi-fi.) I called T-MO Tech Support 3-4 times, and after doing a factory reset, everything was back to working GREAT!
Now, 1 week later the Data Network stopped working AGAIN (I can make and receive calls, and text messages, however no Internet via Mobile Network.) I didn't change any settings or anything.. Again, I called t-mobile and they tried EVERYTHING (reset APN Settings, checked APN, Protocol, etc..) The last thing they asked me to do again was a factory reset, and once again everything seems to be working fine.
My question is: Why it keeps occurring? I don't use very many apps (FB, IG, WhatsApp, Weather, &Twitter only.) T-Mo was suggesting it could be an app causing this issue but I doubt it.
Is there anyway to update without losing data and losing root?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI flashed the latest factory image, then flashed the latest TWRP but can access it 1 out of 10 tries.. What am I doing wrong? Is it a faulty replacement phone? Never had this issue with my other nexus 5 (same recovery file but lollipop and not marshmallow) and now I have this problem.. Tried to riflashato the factory image 5 times, boot to recovery without installing but nothing changed..
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was trying to install a ROM and things got a bit messed up. I wiped system/cache/dalvik/data via TWRP. I then went to install the ROM but it failed due to only supporting hhz12h bootloader.
So now I'm kind of stuck. I can't update the bootloader because fastboot/ADB won't list the device in TWRP. Is there any way to launch an ADB server in TWRP so I can fastboot the bootloader? Doesn't look like there is.
If there's not: Is there a TWRP zip-install hhz12h bootloader I can use? Looked around, couldn't find one.
If not I'll have to try and find/flash the original image..but fastboot is not going to happen so I have to find a zip installable one that'll work with hhz12d bootloader...which hopefully is around. Otherwise I could install literally anything just to get an ADB server so I can fastboot the hhz12h bootloader in there.
Rooting and unlocking. Up until I rooted my nexus 5 in the hopes to get side by side apps I haven't rooted since my gs2. Anyways I rooted my phone via the nexus 5 root toolkit and unlocked the bootloader and whatnot. I found out that I couldn't do side by side because it wasn't available for my version of android. I attempted to unroot and return to stock and I just unrooted and locked the bootloader. Can't figure out how to return my phone to stock without twrp. Every time I try to do OTA updates it just restarts to twrp and it's super annoying. How to get back to stock so I can do OTA updates?

I'm not able to install twrp with adb as well as one click recovery installer.bat as mentioned in the article.
I follow the steps and it shows it sent the recovery image and when reboot, it optimizes the apps as well ,however when i go to recovery, i get android dead icons with X.
Using a rooted nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4. And twrp 2.8.x.x ... I want to restore an old twrp backup I had made some time ago (with an earlier version of twrp) and moved to my pc. So I copied that backup from my pc to the twrp folder in the nexus 5. But when I reboot into TWRP, twrp lists other backups, but not the one I just copied back into its folder. How can I get twrp to see and restore that nandroid backup?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used adb to install TWRP onto my Nexus 5. Now it is in a bootloop, and TWRP does not seem to be able to mount anything. When it reboots it looks like it automatically goes to the TWRP where it says it is running OpenRecoveryScript but it is unable to mount anything. I tried a boot start to Recovery and it worked but when i tried a factory reset it says the same thing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble finding my nandroid backup file made with TWRP. I can't even find the TWRP directory! This file system is so confusing! View 10 Replies View RelatedI wanted to install a custom Rom on my Nexus 5 running Android 6.0 so I downloaded TWRP latest and unlocked the Bootloader and installed TWRP.
Now the OS doesn't bootup anymore and the TWRP starts but gets rebooted all the time.
Tried to install an older TWRP version 2.8.70 and sideloaded and installed Pure Nexus Rom but this doesn't fix the problem.
Wiping anything from TWRP gives error messages...
Well I'm back at it again. Always had a problem of phone shutting off and entering qhdbootloader 9008 (however it goes) and I just run the boarddiag tool but this time its not that far. Well whenever it does that I also have to reflash system but now when I try to flash a rom, it gets to the installing system part in twrp and hangs, then reboots at the google logo until I enter recovery again. Aka I cant flash a rom, hangs and reboots at the installing system portion
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night, I left my phone on charge. It was working normally and the software was functional etc. However, once I woke up, the phone was constantly restarting itself, and wouldn't load past the boot animation. I tried to load up fastboot to enter the TWRP recovery, however, the phone froze on the load screen. I should also add that my custom boot animation was replaced by the CyanogenMod mascot.
I tried to use WugFresh's NRT to flash a factory image of Android 6, however, the command terminal indicated that each process had failed. This did not restore the phone to its original condition.
I should also point out that I have been running a CM 12.1 nightly, which has been very stable and I have been using this nightly, without major problems (bar the infrequent system UI crashes) for a couple of months. It is obviously rooted and I have a Nandroid backup, which I can't access for aforementioned reasons.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I went ahead and started to root my Nexus 6P. I installed the systemless modified boot.img and TWRP, then I sideloaded the systemless SuperSU in TWRP. I am encrypted and TWRP can decrypt still, however when I try to boot the phone, I get the Decryption unsuccessful message and it wants me to reset the phone. I hit reset, it factory resets in TWRP, and it just comes to the same screen upon boot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I updated to Marshmallow from Lollipop via fastboot on my Mac. Upon installing SuperSU and rebooting, I got stuck on the boot animation. Cache wipe and factory reset - still no go, and after the factory reset, I lost TWRP. I tried installing it again only to receive a black screen when rebooting into recovery mode. Tried another factory reset and reinstalled Marshmallow - same issue. I have contacted Google and there's nothing they can do.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs their a way to update while being rooted, and keep the data. I am thinking that after I lock the phone and update it, and re root it, that my phone will be wiped completely
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am already unlocked and rooted, but I would like to relock the bootloader assuming that I can unlock it for future updates without losing data. The Nexus 5 had a boot locker app in the App Store which allowed this, but I do not find an option for the 6 P.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe last couple of times I have used my GPS the phone frequently loses it's GPS signal. The phone is placed near the gear shift on the center console.
I saw a thread on Slickdeals that stated Google was replacing broken phones with re-furbished phones is purchased through the Play store. In the thread several people stated that there were GPS problems with the 1 batch of phones.
I reflashed all the factory images to my Nexus 6P (except userdata), and then restored a TWRP backup of the data partition. This worked, my phone boots up and obviously has my installed apps, etc. But... on the Nexus 6P when you restart the phone you have to enter your lock pattern or PIN. My phone was previously configured with a pattern. It seems the TWRP data backup didn't backup the lock pattern, because it doesn't recognize my pattern.
My fingerprint is recognized, but on the Nexus 6P you still have to enter the lock pattern or PIN when you first reboot. So, I have no way to get into the phone. I tried setting a new lock screen password with Android Device Manager, but it doesn't work. I still get the screen asking for the lock pattern. Is there any way I can get into my phone without blowing away all the data?
I noticed that when my phone was sitting still the screen would randomly turn on, not just to the ambident display screen but to the lockscreen. I realized it was happening anytime the phone lost its data connection and had to reconnect. I can replicate it by turning airplane mode on then off and immediately turning the screen off with the power button. After about 5 seconds, the screen turns on again on its own. I've tried disabling ambient display, daydream, tasker, and bluetooth, but it still happens. I have unlocked the bootloader and changed the dpi but everything else is stock, no root.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently sometimes my Nexus has been charging extremely slowler than usual. Its so bad now that while in use and plugged into charge, its losing battery. Was 19% when I plugged it in now its 16%.
I tried rebooting to see if it was a bug showing the wrong percentage on the bar but that didn't work.
I bought the device mid December last year, direct from Google. Is this something I should seek a replacement over?
I have data roaming disabled but my phone (Nexus 5) is still using data when I'm roaming. The only way I've found to prevent this is to turn off cellular data entirely. Why this is happening? What I want is for my phone to use data when on my carrier's network but not when roaming.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.
