Google Nexus 5 :: Phone Frequently Losing GPS Signal
Sep 5, 2014
The last couple of times I have used my GPS the phone frequently loses it's GPS signal. The phone is placed near the gear shift on the center console.
I saw a thread on Slickdeals that stated Google was replacing broken phones with re-furbished phones is purchased through the Play store. In the thread several people stated that there were GPS problems with the 1 batch of phones.
So I recently got my Nexus 5, switched as an avid Blackberry user (of the last 12 years, and 6 devices!) So far I LOVE the Nexus 5, and Android OS I think I should have been made the switch earlier. As soon as I got my phone and activated with my existing T-Mobile SIM, everything was working fine, except the Mobile DATA Network wouldn't work (only would work via wi-fi.) I called T-MO Tech Support 3-4 times, and after doing a factory reset, everything was back to working GREAT!
Now, 1 week later the Data Network stopped working AGAIN (I can make and receive calls, and text messages, however no Internet via Mobile Network.) I didn't change any settings or anything.. Again, I called t-mobile and they tried EVERYTHING (reset APN Settings, checked APN, Protocol, etc..) The last thing they asked me to do again was a factory reset, and once again everything seems to be working fine.
My question is: Why it keeps occurring? I don't use very many apps (FB, IG, WhatsApp, Weather, &Twitter only.) T-Mo was suggesting it could be an app causing this issue but I doubt it.
so I have a nexus 6 I am trying to root and I am using nexus 6 root toolkit I do everything they say to do but when I install the custom rom it says I don't have root access what am I doing wrong. I have tried to root it like 3 times now and it does the same thing.
A day ago i came through a issue with my nexus, as i connected my charger to the phone, the phone went into a bootloop and wouldnt get into recovery, fastboot, bootloader mode the fix i found on some thread on xda was to remove the back panel and then reattach the battery circuits. This worked exactly as described the phone booted properly.
But since then my nexus wasnt switching to 3G signal, i wasnt sure if it was my sim/operator failing to provide signals, finally after a whole day returning from job i realized that its my nexus thats not connecting to 3g and not the sim operator as i tried using my sim on my mothers phone.
I couldnt find any fixes on the internet and so I went through the internal hardware specifications and from ifixit i learned that reconnecting the antenna wires solved the issue for me.
Bluetooth has been working perfectly. However last couple of days it keeps turning off by itself disconnecting my LG Round smartwatch. I'm running Android 5.0
Is there a way to make the notification light blink more frequently? I don't want to use a messaging app because I really like Hangouts (dont judge me haha).
I love my Nexus 5. It's blazing fast and does everything I need but I have one small problem with it. In the latest update (4.4.4) Google updated the Dialer App. The UI is amazing but there's a thing about the app that annoys me a lot.
I have set 5 of my closest friends which I call a lot on Speed Dial/Favourites.
However, every time I call anyone else in my contacts they automatically get added to the same Speed Dial menu and I have to manually clear those by clicking "clear frequents" or removing them one by one. Is there a way to disable this annoying feature?
I have a S5 SM-G900F and since the last update 5.0 my phone keeps forgetting its a phone. When I try to make a call I am told that there is no service also I can not receive calls and the is no phone signal indicator at the top. If I restart my phone the signal indicator reappears and I can make a call with out a problem. Then at some point it will lose the signal indicator again and I can not receive calls or send them. After the phone has been restarted I get flooded with all the texts or missed calls I have had, one of these was an important call from my doctor
My phone has LTE but most of the time its at an H or 3g sometimes it goes to 3G, am I doing something wrong? Only place I can get LTE is places like outdoors or a big field
Recently sometimes my Nexus has been charging extremely slowler than usual. Its so bad now that while in use and plugged into charge, its losing battery. Was 19% when I plugged it in now its 16%.
I tried rebooting to see if it was a bug showing the wrong percentage on the bar but that didn't work.
I bought the device mid December last year, direct from Google. Is this something I should seek a replacement over?
I flashed factory image of android 6 on the day of the release. I've had worse wifi signal than I had on 5.1.1, a very notable change. In my wife's nexus 5 I waited till the ota update, and that phone doesn't have the same issue. I've tried flashing the radio from 5.1.1,but didn't see any change. I also refreshed to stock 6.0,and performed factory reset.
I'm at like 60% signal when sitting next to the router.
My LG-D820 (Nexus 5) has no network signal even after changing firmwares. (Full fastboot wipe and reinstall)
My question is, why would a device able to detect the simcard but yet, cant receive any bars from the network provider towers? I can guarantee it isnt the sim because I've tried several others in it, same issue.
Having issues with their Nexus 5 not finding their 5ghz Wifi network? My N7 does have some issues however if I toggle the airplane mode on it, it will find and connect the 5ghz network. However, on the N5 toggling airplane mode, restarting the phone, nothing seems to find it.The network is not hidden, though did try just entering the WiFi information to the phone to give it a try and it still didn't find or connect.I downloaded Wifi analyzer and it won't find the network either.
My nexus 5 GPS used to work GREAT under kitkat. However, after the Lollipop OTA update the gps signal keeps dropping and I am not able to use any navigation system.
I did try the factory reset but it didnt work.
A friend of mine is also facing the exact same problem, we both have the 32GB model.
My girlfriend, however, has not faced any issue after the ota update (she has the 16GB model). Her GPS works great! Our basebands versions are exactly the same.
I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
I've had an iPhone 3GS on Orange since April 2010, and am waiting to upgrade until the 5 (or whatever they call it) comes out later this year. I've always had a full 3G signal in my house since I have had my iPhone. Around 3 weeks ago, I suddenly noticed one evening that I had no signal, I put it down to a local reception problem or something and ignored it. Later that evening though, I realised that my wife, who has a Blackberry Curve also on Orange, still had a full signal. I also have an iPad 2 3G on Orange, which had full signal still, and then my brother came round with his iPhone 4 on Orange and again had full signal.
The next day I was driving to work and suddenly my signal reappeared, pinging in half a dozen texts and missed call alerts etc. Then when I arrived at work (where I usually get 2-3 bars of signal) again my phone showed No Signal. One of my colleagues has an iPhone 4 on Orange, and sitting on the table right next to my phone was getting 3 bars of 3g signal, where I had nothing. Walking around the town on my lunch break I managed to get 1 bar up and get a text in.
Over the last few weeks this pattern has repeated. I can still go to some places where I can get a full 3g signal. Sometimes I'm driving and the signal comes in for a while then goes. Sometimes I go to larger towns and get a full signal easily. However mostly for the last 3 weeks I'm getting no signal. When at home, if I go out of my house.
I have tried a normal restore, a reset and a DFU reset. Funnily enough these all seem to make it suddenly work again at home for about half an hour, then it disappears again. I've read about some people having a problem with jailbroken phones, but this phone never has been. I'm guessing there could be something wrong with the internal ariel, but it puzzles me why it still sometimes picks up a signal. Is there a signal amplifier in the phone that could have gone wrong and it's making it harder to find the signal?
So this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.
When I walk out of range of a WiFi signal, the 3G does not start. I have to switch on airplane mode and then switch it off. Is there something wrong with my phone?
I have a iPhone 3GS, and have had no problems with it whatsoever. However, recently whenever I am using an ap that is sending/receiving data (either through Wifi or 3G connection) my signal drops out every minute or so for several seconds, before searching and reconnecting, and resets my Wifi connection also. However, when simply texting or talking on the phone this doesnt occur. The problem seemed to have begun after installing iOS5, but since updating to iOS5.1, it still remains the same.
I have tried all the basics of reinserting my sim, restarting the unit, as well as trying a soft reset etc. It seems odd that the problem only primarily occurs with 3rd party aps, such as banking, chat and social networking including facebook.
My iphone 4 on 3uk network keeps losing 3g signal for no reason and its driving me mad. Switching it on and off restores signal for a while but it looses it again. Ive tried network reset, hard reset, restore, and its still doing it. Any ideas what it might be? i dont want to have to ring three because no they will just send me a 'refurbished iphone' ps have also updated it to newest software that came out today and it still happens:
I bought a factory unlocked IPhone 4s (Model MD234LL and Serial DNPGYCCWDT9Y) from US and after the software upgrade 5.1.1 (9B206) I find that the device looses signal strength and does not connect to Internet 3G or on other occasions Internet connections drops. Sometimes I have "No service" that also comes up. Even making phone calls is difficult and during calls the conversation is dropped and i have to call back sometimes. I also use a BlackBerry and have a connection from same service provider but my BlackBerry shows better Internet browsing capabilities than the iPhone. When the iPhone shows no service my BlackBerry has signal strength.
if this is a 'feature' or a fault. I find that if my phone loses signal (i.e. going through a train tunnel) then it does not automatically reconnect once back out in the open air. I didn't realise this and wondered why I was not getting email feed on my phone. I pressed the top button to activate the screen and it briefly showed no signal before quickly registering full signal and then downloading about 15 emails. It seems that I have to wake the phone up after signal loss or else it will just sit there doing nothing. With the best will in the world this is going to be difficult - it is possible to lose signal fairly briefly and not even realise in which case the phone could sit unconnected for hours before I noticed all was not as it should be. Does anyone else experience this? I have had HTC phones in the past (a Desire HD just prior to this One S) and have never come across the issue before - my phones have always instantly reconnected as soon as a signal becomes available
