I flashed the latest factory image, then flashed the latest TWRP but can access it 1 out of 10 tries.. What am I doing wrong? Is it a faulty replacement phone? Never had this issue with my other nexus 5 (same recovery file but lollipop and not marshmallow) and now I have this problem.. Tried to riflashato the factory image 5 times, boot to recovery without installing but nothing changed..
step 4 is where things get funky, when I tell bootloader to load recovery mode the phone restarts and then boots normally.I've been hacking at this for a few hours, and ended up loading the boot.img file more than once (see steps below) -- the original attempt worked and would access recovery mode the "load from zip" option wasn't available to I started tinkering, at one point I told it to restart from recovery mode -- it listed updating 7 files after which it had flashed itself back to factory defaults.I then flashed the boot loader a 2nd time it stopped accessing recovery mode
since then I've tried - download Quick Boot app (crashes when trying to load recovery mode) - flashed with fresh factory image - numerous attempts to restart into bootloader - voodoo chanting (not really but that's next)
My nexus won't boot, after click to turn on, is stuck on logo of google. I can not access to recovery mode, neither to download mode, anything..
I've tried reinstalling the rom via LG mobile support tool, but the software does not even detect the nexus, but in device manager is identified and the driver installed correctly .. I do not know what to do ..
I've a Nexus 5, stock rom 4.4.4, rooted. Since 3 or 4 days I have unwanted reboots. And today, my nexus powered off and didn't want to reboot.
Even I press the power button for a long time (more than a couple of minutes) , nothing happened. The only thing I got, is when the device is plugged on usb charger : the nexus boot on the google logo then switch off and boot again on the google logo then switch off again and again and again....
I can't access bootloader or recovery... If the device is bricked, I just want to recover my. Is the flash memory could be recovered?
I just got my second hand Nexus 6p and the bootloader came unlocked and TWRP is installed. The updates don't work when TWRP is installed so I want to go back to the stock recovery.
Build number: MMB29P Android 6.0.1 January 2016 patch.
I tried to update my phone to the latest version. I hit install from the notification, my phone reboots goes into TWRP recovery.... does nothing, then I have to "reboot into system" and then the phone boots up like normal. Without updating to 6.0.1.
So I flashed the latest firmware, after being unlocked, then rent back to bootloader, flashed recovery, went to recovery and installed file. Then restarted...now stuck in boot loop. It booted before I went to flash recovery in the new firmware just fine.
Do you need to flash something else when you flash recovery?
it says device is corrupt when I restart, but I was under the impression that screen comes up when bootloader is unlocked, so not sure if it means anything...
I was trying to install a ROM and things got a bit messed up. I wiped system/cache/dalvik/data via TWRP. I then went to install the ROM but it failed due to only supporting hhz12h bootloader.
So now I'm kind of stuck. I can't update the bootloader because fastboot/ADB won't list the device in TWRP. Is there any way to launch an ADB server in TWRP so I can fastboot the bootloader? Doesn't look like there is.
If there's not: Is there a TWRP zip-install hhz12h bootloader I can use? Looked around, couldn't find one.
If not I'll have to try and find/flash the original image..but fastboot is not going to happen so I have to find a zip installable one that'll work with hhz12d bootloader...which hopefully is around. Otherwise I could install literally anything just to get an ADB server so I can fastboot the hhz12h bootloader in there.
Rooting and unlocking. Up until I rooted my nexus 5 in the hopes to get side by side apps I haven't rooted since my gs2. Anyways I rooted my phone via the nexus 5 root toolkit and unlocked the bootloader and whatnot. I found out that I couldn't do side by side because it wasn't available for my version of android. I attempted to unroot and return to stock and I just unrooted and locked the bootloader. Can't figure out how to return my phone to stock without twrp. Every time I try to do OTA updates it just restarts to twrp and it's super annoying. How to get back to stock so I can do OTA updates?
I have updated to android m on my nexus 5. However when trying to root using instructions from: [URL] ...
I'm not able to install twrp with adb as well as one click recovery installer.bat as mentioned in the article.
I follow the steps and it shows it sent the recovery image and when reboot, it optimizes the apps as well ,however when i go to recovery, i get android dead icons with X.
Using a rooted nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4. And twrp 2.8.x.x ... I want to restore an old twrp backup I had made some time ago (with an earlier version of twrp) and moved to my pc. So I copied that backup from my pc to the twrp folder in the nexus 5. But when I reboot into TWRP, twrp lists other backups, but not the one I just copied back into its folder. How can I get twrp to see and restore that nandroid backup?
I used adb to install TWRP onto my Nexus 5. Now it is in a bootloop, and TWRP does not seem to be able to mount anything. When it reboots it looks like it automatically goes to the TWRP where it says it is running OpenRecoveryScript but it is unable to mount anything. I tried a boot start to Recovery and it worked but when i tried a factory reset it says the same thing.
I am having trouble finding my nandroid backup file made with TWRP. I can't even find the TWRP directory! This file system is so confusing! I have tried ES File Explorer, Root Browser, and tried searching the file system using my laptop. I have even searched for "2014-12-13" and nothing is found. Nexus 5 on Android 5.0 w/ TWRP v2.8.1.0
i have followed all the steps using NRT to unlock boot-loader and root the phone.
Installed TWRT manager and flashed the recovery.
Now i am trying to flash CM12 for the first time and stuck with error message "can't install this package on top of incompatible data" during flashing .
downloaded the following flash zip from CM website: cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip (281.77 MB)
I am on a stock rooted Nexus 5 (with TWRP). I want to install a custom rom; however, I would like to do a clean install of the custom rom (making sure no files/settings of my previous installations are left if that makes sense). What's the best way to go about this? Does it mean I have to install both the custom rom and the recovery again in order to do a clean install?
Well I'm back at it again. Always had a problem of phone shutting off and entering qhdbootloader 9008 (however it goes) and I just run the boarddiag tool but this time its not that far. Well whenever it does that I also have to reflash system but now when I try to flash a rom, it gets to the installing system part in twrp and hangs, then reboots at the google logo until I enter recovery again. Aka I cant flash a rom, hangs and reboots at the installing system portion
Last night, I left my phone on charge. It was working normally and the software was functional etc. However, once I woke up, the phone was constantly restarting itself, and wouldn't load past the boot animation. I tried to load up fastboot to enter the TWRP recovery, however, the phone froze on the load screen. I should also add that my custom boot animation was replaced by the CyanogenMod mascot.
I tried to use WugFresh's NRT to flash a factory image of Android 6, however, the command terminal indicated that each process had failed. This did not restore the phone to its original condition.
I should also point out that I have been running a CM 12.1 nightly, which has been very stable and I have been using this nightly, without major problems (bar the infrequent system UI crashes) for a couple of months. It is obviously rooted and I have a Nandroid backup, which I can't access for aforementioned reasons.
So I updated to Marshmallow from Lollipop via fastboot on my Mac. Upon installing SuperSU and rebooting, I got stuck on the boot animation. Cache wipe and factory reset - still no go, and after the factory reset, I lost TWRP. I tried installing it again only to receive a black screen when rebooting into recovery mode. Tried another factory reset and reinstalled Marshmallow - same issue. I have contacted Google and there's nothing they can do.
I have nexus 5 with android 5.01 rooted with custom recovery TWRP. The problem is i downloaded 5.1 in about phone > check for update. When it restart it goes to custom recovery menu and nothing happen. I downloaded 5.1 zip file and i try to install with TWRP but it says error. I really wanna taste 5.1 ....
Running LMY48M. I am trying to enter recovery mode to wipe cache and all I get is the stupid robot on his back saying no command. I have tried volume up and power button no menu comes up... Phone is starting to have some quirks and figured I would try wiping cache before anything else.
A colleague of mine (yes honestly it wasnt me) reported that his Nexus 5 was stuck with as he put it "the wee android man in the middle of the screen" Then, before he give the phone to me to look at he said that he had tried some things with images to get it to work but it didnt work. so truthfully i am not sure what he has done or not done but the phone is stuck as follows:
When you turn the phone on you have the android robot which looks like it is doing an update.
I have gone into bootloader where I have the option to Start, Recovery Mode, Restart Bootloader and Power Off. The lock state in the Fastboot mode shows unlocked.
No matter which option you take (Even Recovery) it just goes back to the android screen that looks like it is trying to update....i cant get to the android with the exclamation mark that would allow me to do a factory reset. At this stage of the game im not worried about any lost data etc.
I recently bricked my Nexus 5 after attempting to load one kernel over another (I know now that what I did was stupid) and I'm now stuck in a bootloop. I believe I'm running on 5.1.1 and have no custom recovery anymore.
I am currently running Resurrection Remix MM version. I would like to downgrade back to 511. Can I just flash a lollipop rom through recovery or I need to flash system image of lollipop first?
Two weeks ago, I decided to try another rom, as I often do. I booted into the recovery, formated everything, and got the rom ready on my computer.
However, when I connected the usb cable to the phone, nothing happened. Strange, it had no problems before. Tried another PC and a few other cables (the original one too). Nothing.
The phone only charges but isn't recognized by any computer (it doesn't even show up in the device manager and there is no sound). The drivers are ok, it worked before that.
I also tried an otg cable with the rom on a usb drive and it doesn't see that either.
I thought, "great", my usb port data pins must be dead so I ordered one. I'm so lucky that i got a DOA one. (this one isn't even charging the phone)
Any way to transfer a file/rom to the phone that has no OS (it boots fine in the recovery - twrp) without using a cable?
