I've seen three or four times where my L950 appears to be shut down. As in the screen is off and pushing the power button does seem to do anything. Eventually I hold down the power button for a while (more than 4 seconds, maybe 10 seconds) and the phone eventually plays a tone and reboots(?) itself.

i tried going to settings and change the screen timeouts, displays, etc. and i changed it all to 2 minutes.
The issue here is that whenever you go to make a call The phone automatically blacks out the screen. I can't see how to disable this. But if the phone is blacked out and you are on another call, when a second call beeps in it won't allow the screen to come on to switch calls.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've updated my IOS to 5.1 on my iPhone 4 and I'm getting a repeated issue where the screen will randomly go black very quickly as if it's gone to sleep. It happens predominantly whilst using the camera but on occassion whilst using various apps. I've tried touching the screen to 'wake' it but that doesn't work and I can only reactivate the phone by pressing the home button which brings the phone back to the homescreen.The camera also takes a long time to wake. Often it will open and display the closed apperture image for a good few seconds.Is it worth my while downgrading to IOS 5.0 and waiting for a bug fix?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm posting this on behalf of a friend who has asked me to take a look at their E6-00 which has a problem that when a call is received the screen blacks out instantly and therefore she can't see the caller display.
I've read elsewhere that it is an issue with the proximity sensor on the front of the device but nowhere states if there is a definitive fix for the problem.
This did not happen prior to the phone being upgraded to Anna. I have since upgraded it again to Belle in the hope that this will remedy the issue but it's still happening.
if their are any OTA updates or downloads that will sort this out or is it just a "live with it" firmware flaw?
A quite simple complaint - for Symbian S60 v3 - The screen completely BLACKS out after X seconds (configurable up to 90 seconds) no matter what settings you use. (Latest firmware.) I can't find a power-saver disable anywhere in the options. I want to be able to use a permanent screen saver display, such as a greyed-out clock on low power display, or the status + time blue and white stripe. This is fine on my older N76 and many other models. Why has this feature been excluded?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have Nokia Lumia 900 running Windows Mobile 7.5. The Nokia Drive running on it is 3.1.0.3206. It had been working great for me till 10 days back. Suddenly whenever I open the application and tap "Set destination", the app shuts down. The Nokia Drive then needs to be restarted.
It seems to have something to do with the destinations. The same behavior is also witnessed when I try to "Clear history" using Settings >> Clear history.In appears that the app on my cell phone does not like number of destinations stored, or a specific destination.
my screen froze on my 1020. None of the "screen" buttons would work but the physical side buttons would. I rebooted a couple of times (depressing the power and volume down). It worked once but then froze up again. Taking out the sim and putting it back in seems to reboot the phone, which works, sometimes, but freezes up again as soon as the screen lock is activated.

View 2 Replies View Relatedlast year I dropped it and the front glass covering the LCD broke. As it didn't affected the digitizer (and I was running a bit low on money) I decided to don't replace it right away. The time passed and it keept working until (something like 10 or 11 months later) it started to shut down by itself, either it had 90% of battery or 15%. As the boot took a bit to complete it shuts down before it gets to the running OS. The only way to avoid this powering offs was to having it pluged in to the charger. At first I thought it was a bug or something like that, so I unrooted it and got the stock vanilla android. 5.1 I think it was by that time. It didn't solve the problem. When the Marshmallow update was available I installed it hoping it could fix the problem but it also didn't work. With two versions of the stock android not solving the problem I concluded it wasn't a software problem and began to think it could be something to do with the broken glass. Maybe it wasn't just the glass that got broken. I bought a replacement for the display and replaced it. But, well, it also didn't solve the problem.
Now I have a neat condition Nexus 5 that keeps shutting down everytime the screen is on for more than one or two minutes.
My co-worker asked me to fix her Galaxy S5 because I have the same phone, but I can't figure it out.
The display dims after 12 seconds and shuts off 3 seconds later.
I've turned off power saving features and even changed the time out to 10 minutes and no luck.
I tried turning on smart stay, but that got me to about 30 seconds and no farther.
My iPhone 4S screen shuts off randomly while I am using it. It only happens when I unlock the phone or open an app. The screen shuts off and stays off until I hit the home button, and then it comes back on but instead of showing the lock screen, it shows the animation of the app closing and going back to the home screen. I have restored my phone and that did not fix the problem. Any other ideas of what I could do to fix it, or should I take in in to an Apple store and have them check it out? It happens probably once or twice a week.

my htc one shuts down after a couple of seconds when run on battery, but it stays on during charging. Is it a battery issue? Should I buy a new battery or send it to htc one for inspection? I even did a factory reset, but it didnt work. Also it turns off quickly while using camera, playing games, or in other words it stays on longer when I am not using it at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Podkicker and have never had an issue with past phones. I download casts. I don't stream them. Everything usually works fine. However, I have noticed that when wifi is toggled off, I get on and off crackling through the speaker. Strangely, when I turn the screen on it plays clearly but as soon as the screen shuts off it crackles again. I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling to no avail. Should clearing the partition have any effect or is this possibly a hardware issue? Maybe the speaker is not getting enough power unless the screen or wifi is turned on? This is really annoying, especially while driving when I don't want my wifi scanning and I don't want to keep powering on the screen. I would hate to have to send the phone in for this. I would also hate to try a factory reset.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes, when I am actively using my XPRT, scrolling a web page, or looking at game scores, pretty much any activity I use the phone for, the screen will just shut off. I have the delays set very high, like 2 minutes or more, but the screen still gets in the mode of just wanting to be off.
So, the screen shuts off, I have to press the button on top the phone, then swipe the little slider to get back to what I'm doing. Then within 1 or 2 or 3 seconds it shuts off again. The happens for 6 or 8 or 10 times, then things return to normal. Then I can use the phone as normal again and the screen stays on.
Installed version 3.03 when it first came out onto my new X6, been working fine for just over a week until this evening.Now whenever I open Ovi Maps it works for a few seconds before it freezes, then completely blacks out and finally turns off and restarts my phone!Is anyone else having this problem?I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Ovi Maps which failed to help and have just now completely backed up my phone and reinstalled the device software with no change at all.

My phone now lasts a couple of hours before shutting itself off, without warning and when there is (supposedly) charge in the battery. It also drops % randomly. From 70% to 55% over the space of 10 minutes. The maximum usage I've been able to get of the phone is 6 hours (about 60-90 minutes use, the rest it's idle). I'm not sure where the problem is: the battery, the battery information on screen, the update?

I have factory reset it twice over the last week and if anything, it's just gotten worse. I have added no apps since the last reset, not even configurated email. The problem is not only the very limited battery life, it's that the battery reading is unrealiable, I feel like I never really know what the real capacity is and when it's going to die. What I have figured out is that once it hits 50% that signals the end is near. I rarely see it go under 40%, it will usually shut down before that.

More details: This happens at any charge level, for example today it shutdown at 78%. It seemed the battery was having a good day, as I had left the house 2 hours prior and disconnected the charger at 100%, so it had "only" lost 20% during two hours (mostly idle, but about 15min with location services and 20min with facebook/browsing). I got my phone out to take a photo and noted the charge (78%) and right after taking the photo the phone just stated "Shutting Down" and the battery signal in the corner was red (couldn't read %). It would not restart, I tried several times but it wouldn't complete the start-up sequence, turning itself off in about 2-5 seconds. About 30 minutes later I managed to turn it on, it showed the charge as being 16%. I thought I had enough power to send an sms, but as it was sending it shut down again as the battery was 0% and so it turned itself off (this process between turning on and the power showing 16% and shutting down took less than 2 minutes, but the sms went through! Yay for silver linings!). About an hour later I had access to my charger and connected to the power cable, which after 10 minutes said it was at 60% charge.
It usually happens when I'm playing a very graphic intense game. Annoying enough... But last night I noticed it getting hot and I was just surfing the web!? The screen is approaching too hot to touch temperature! I drilled a big long slit in my case to let it breathe better. And I have a tempered glass screen protector.
