Oct 3, 2014When the phone is on a table or similar flat surface and the phone screen is not responding when using your fingers?I do have a front and rear glass screen protector and a plastic clip on rear protective cover, so I am guessing, these are to blame, if so, why?

Nov 22, 2015I am having an issue with the 950s screen responsiveness and hoping a few other ow red could confirm if they are also so I know if it's a bad screen or something else.
When the phone is laying flat on a hard surface the screen is completely unresponsive. As soon as a pick it up everything is fine.
The other issue is in regards to the keyboard which seems to be hit or miss on recognizing input near the edges of the screen.
I suspect it could be the tempered glass screen protector but I don't want to remove it if others have the issue if there is a known software issue.

Dec 16, 2011If I set my phone on a metal service and let the screen turn off, it turns off EVERY time, without fail. The only way to turn it back on is by removing and replacing the battery. I've gotten pretty good at avoiding metal surfaces now, but occasionally I forget, and it's a major inconvenience.Is anyone else having this problem? Could this be related to the SoD problem? As for details, there's not much else to it, but if you're intrigued, keep reading for more information.

I have many apps installed, but this has happened with a fully loaded phone and a recently formatted phone, so that's not the issue. Any type of metal surface causes the phone to turn off. Some examples: inside my desk drawer, on a metal table at a restaurant, on top of a napkin dispenser.I reiterate: this has happened when the phone is brand new, untouched, and when the phone is fully loaded. It also ONLY happens on metal, and has never once turned off while sitting on any other surface.

Dec 7, 2015I've seen three or four times where my L950 appears to be shut down. As in the screen is off and pushing the power button does seem to do anything. Eventually I hold down the power button for a while (more than 4 seconds, maybe 10 seconds) and the phone eventually plays a tone and reboots(?) itself.

I found that the double tap or swiping the phone while it's on a table does not always activate the phone. However, when the phone is in my hand, it works as it should. I'm thinking maybe it's because the phone has a rounded back so when you tap it, the phone will seesaw and it messes with the internal sensor. I never have this problem when the phone is in my hand because the way the phone contours to the hand and making it more stable.

Aug 31, 2015I've had a Sony ZL2 SOL25 for just over a year now. Everything was fine until a few weeks ago. I upgraded to Android 4.4.2 around the same time, but this might be a coincidence.
My phone now lasts a couple of hours before shutting itself off, without warning and when there is (supposedly) charge in the battery. It also drops % randomly. From 70% to 55% over the space of 10 minutes. The maximum usage I've been able to get of the phone is 6 hours (about 60-90 minutes use, the rest it's idle). I'm not sure where the problem is: the battery, the battery information on screen, the update?
I have factory reset it twice over the last week and if anything, it's just gotten worse. I have added no apps since the last reset, not even configurated email. The problem is not only the very limited battery life, it's that the battery reading is unrealiable, I feel like I never really know what the real capacity is and when it's going to die. What I have figured out is that once it hits 50% that signals the end is near. I rarely see it go under 40%, it will usually shut down before that.
More details: This happens at any charge level, for example today it shutdown at 78%. It seemed the battery was having a good day, as I had left the house 2 hours prior and disconnected the charger at 100%, so it had "only" lost 20% during two hours (mostly idle, but about 15min with location services and 20min with facebook/browsing). I got my phone out to take a photo and noted the charge (78%) and right after taking the photo the phone just stated "Shutting Down" and the battery signal in the corner was red (couldn't read %). It would not restart, I tried several times but it wouldn't complete the start-up sequence, turning itself off in about 2-5 seconds. About 30 minutes later I managed to turn it on, it showed the charge as being 16%. I thought I had enough power to send an sms, but as it was sending it shut down again as the battery was 0% and so it turned itself off (this process between turning on and the power showing 16% and shutting down took less than 2 minutes, but the sms went through! Yay for silver linings!). About an hour later I had access to my charger and connected to the power cable, which after 10 minutes said it was at 60% charge.
Xperia X8 :: No Internet And Phone Shuts Down With Other Sim Cards?
Mar 2, 2011I have recently bought a Xperia X8 in New Zealand. It was sold in the Vodafone phone section of an electronic store, the salesperson assured me it was not locked to Vodafone so I decided to buy it and take it back home with me to Samoa. Prior to departing for Samoa, I've used the phone with a Vodafone NZ sim card for about a week, everything worked fine, internet, GMail, apps market, apps etc.After arriving back in Samoa, I hooked it up to my computer to update the phone software which included an upgrade to Android 2.1. After that, I took it down to a Digicel (one of the two mobile phone service providers in Samoa) store to get my internet set up. After leaving the store I've realised only the browser's internet connection worked, but no internet connection for of the apps, apps market, GMail etc...
(1)No internet Did some research on the net about this problem, tried getting the wizard back up and signing into my google account, no luck. Formatted the phone, tried to set up my google account straight away in the wizard, no luck. Digicel doesnt know what's wrong either. There are no Android phones currently sold by Digicel in Samoa so I guess I can't really blame them. It's very frustrating. Fortunately, I've been able to hook up the phone to my home's wifi connection, internet works fine of course...the apps, the apps market, GMail etc.
(2) Phone shuts down with other sim cards Ever since having taken the phone down to the Digicel store (they took it to the back so I don't know what else they did with the phone) to get the internet set up, no other sim cards work with the phone. Well they work, but, only a few seconds or at most a minute after entering the sim pin, then the phone just goes blank and reboots itself. This happens with simcards from the other mobile phone service provider (tried both mine and my dad's) AND with the Vodafone sim card I used in NZ!?!?! Could Digicel have done something to the phone which makes it shut down when non-Digicel sim cards are inserted?

Sep 20, 2015I upgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1 recently using Sony updates. However I am having a strange problem now. The phone shuts down when pulled out of a power source though battery status is above 80%. If I plug back the phone into a power supply and restart, I am able to use the phone without any problem. Is my battery dead? It has been about 1.5 years now with this phone. Tried restarting in safe mode as well but the phone still shut down when pulled out of power supply.

Dec 21, 2013I've recently got a HTC 601 which I'm pretty happy with so far except for the following issue.
I have noticed on multiple occasions that when on long calls the call gets hung up. I'm not certain, but I'm fairly sure that this is because the phone is picking up a 'touch' from the side of my face and processing it as a press of the end call button. As far as I can tell the screen is off when this happens - but it is still registering the touch rather than ignoring it. On one occasion the call was put on to speaker-phone - which made me pretty sure the problem is related the the phone registering touches when it shouldn't be (opposed to the call dropping out due to network or similar issues).
This has happened since I first had the phone (I got it about 2 weeks ago) and I have not rooted the phone or anything like that. Are they any settings I can change that would relate to this? My wife got the same phone at the same time but hasn't had any issues.

Feb 29, 2012Sometimes I use headphones while in noisy locations in order to hear calls better, but I still have to hold the phone up to talk into it. I noticed that something kept beeping, and figured out that the screen does not blank when against my head as it does without the headphones in place.
Is there a way to change that behavior, or do I just need to retrain myself to hold the phone differently when using headphones?

The bug is present since 2.3.4 and is still present in newest.The problem is Neo V tries to be smart and turn the screen on when the phone is placed horizontally. Unfortunately it sometime fails. So the actual problem is with identification of the phone orientation, which points to accelerometer. On the other hand the idea of turning the screen on when detected orientation is horizontally seems to have completely no sense. Reliable and robust solution would be to stick with proximity sensor data only and not to take orientation into account when deciding whether or not to turn the screen on.

Nov 1, 2015I'm trying to use the trusted face and trusted location methods for keeping the phone unlocked but it's been very inconsistent (title of post is wrong - shouldn't say WiFi, should say location). I can sort of understand the face one not working well (although I've tried the "improve face recognition" option many times), but I don't understand why the location method won't work when I'm at home. Does it take a few seconds for the phone to recognize my location?

"You can double-chop to turn the flash on or off. But if you activate the flashlight this way and set the phone face-down, the flashlight will almost immediately turn itself off."
Sounds awesome, so i tried it, double-chop works fine, but the flashlight dont turn itsel off when i put the phone face-down, and i waited a long time hoping the sensors have a delay, i tested in many surfaces and all the same.
It doens't seems to have a setting about this as the phone do it automatically..
So, that's it, i will have to accept it will never work on my phone? I already factory reset the phone after the update to MM, and a few days later.

May 4, 2010I had my first storm replaced because the screen stopped clicking, and now I am having never ending problems with the screen lock. Ill be in the middle of the call and the screen will be locked but then suddenly it will unlock and ill hit a button and end the call, or flash, or mute. I have prematurely ended hundreds of calls now.
I got a new one, and it is having similar issues. I know that the face recognition works off of heat, so i don't know how the Texas weather is affecting it, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. I have been counting and I am up to 2 out of every 3 calls either get muted, flashed, or ended unintentionally.
I tried using storm lock, but it does not lock the end key of course, so i can still end the call, which I do often. Has any one had any problems with theirs? Any ideas how to fix?

Nov 9, 2010For some time ago I updated my X10 to Android 2.1 and today (a week later) I noticeed all the sudden that Mediascape has linked alot of my pictures stored in my phone to some of my Facebook contacts automatically. Of course Mediascape got it all wrong, linking my children to old friends I haven't met in several years etc.
1. First - how do I disable Face recognition service entirely. I find this very unuseful since I have found it not that good at identifying persons even when trying to learn.
2. How come that Mediascape did this automatic link between my Facebook contact and my pictures?
3. Is there a way to clear this linking data that Mediascap does. It's pretty time consuming to have to go through all Facebook friends and select the image and Delete the link between the photo and the friend.
I guess Mediascape must have downloaded images from my frieds facebook galleries and analyzed them somehow. However this isn't something I want my phone to spend time doing. The battery time of my X10 is poor already, it doesn't need to do image processing - at least I should have the option to turn this off?Overall I find Mediascape pertty crappy. Mostly because it's performance. I guess the ideas behind it is good, but the implementation isn't near good enough.For example, slow browsing between images. Compare with iPhone, Samsung galaxy, HTC phones, older SonyEricsson phones such as W715 or C905. All these perform much better. Is there a way to remove this or use another media viewer?

I don't have any unopened notifications and did not subscribe to Yahoo.
