Jul 29, 2010I inadvertently backed up my iPod Touch 3G which ended up being a blessing because it actually died due to water damage. When I get my new iP4 I want to restore from that iPod Touch backup because it has many apps I use for studying including the settings which I definitely need. Is there a way to restore just the apps? How would/could I restore at least the one app with data that I really need?

Jun 29, 2012I just got a new iPhone 4S today! So I backed up my iPod Touch 4G to use that as the iPhone software.
When I restored the iPhone from backup (Right click on the iphone in the side of iTunes, select "restore from backup"), all the settings synced and so did the Movies and Music. ALL MY APPS DID NOT SYNC.
I have not restored my iPod Touch yet, so my question is, What do I need to do to make my iPhone identical to my iPod Touch?

Apr 23, 2012I had an iPhone 3GS that was no longer under contract. Yesterday, I bought an iPhone 4S from Verizon and switched my phone number from the 3GS to the 4S. After transferring all of my apps and other data to the new 4S phone, I reset the 3GS to the original factory settings and gave it to my mother, to use as an iPod touch. It works fine. She can connect to wifi, check email, sync with iTunes, download apps under her iTunes account, etc. The phone has never been "jailbroken" or had SIM cards swapped out, or anything similar. It still has the original SIM card that that I bought the phone with, in August 2009.
Now that the 3GS is working as an iPod Touch, do I need to remove the SIM card? Should I? My concern is that AT&T will hit me with some nefarious fee at some point in the future for reasons that I don't understand. Should this be a concern?

Apr 9, 2012I recently lost my SD card to my blackberry 9810 and am attempting to restore the files onto a new SD card to a computer. I had automatic backups set up from the Blackberry desktop manager and Blackberry protect. I was under the assumption that these backups also backed up information on the SD card. Unfortunatley, when I tried to restore my phone using a blackberry desktop no old files where restored to my new SD card.I have read an old post that says the automatic backups do not backup SD card documents but am unsure if that is still true.Is there anyway I could restore the files using the backups?

Jun 1, 2012I have an iPhone 4 I bought through Vodafone in Italy, but that SIM card is no longer in use, and I'm using the iPhone just as an iPod Touch.
Today, I tried installing iOS 5.1.1, it crashed as soon as it started, and I was forced to restore the iPhone.
Problem is, after downloading the OS and installing it, to finish restoring the iPhone it asks for a valid SIM card, which I don't have.
How can I restore my iPhone without a SIM card?
I currently cannot get to any Apple store, as I live quite far from the city, and I have a small baby to take care of.

Jul 30, 2010It was working fine first when it came but it didn't have any of my data on it and it was jail broken. I researched into this and it said that a restore of the software would get rid of that and then I'd be able to put my own data onto it. It was extracting the software everything seemed like a normal restore but then it came up with the message "the SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported" I cannot get passed it and O2 (I'm in the uk) the staff in my local shop just didn't have a clue what to do.

Mar 12, 2012i got this iphone 3g from a friend. He got it for the US from another person. We have no idea what the carrier is or if its factory unlocked or not. The phone was not jailbroken or anything. Then one day my friend updated his iphone 3g to the ios 4.1 which also upgraded his baseband to 06.15.00 so the phone is now locked and no sim here in Bahrain can be used. He asked me if i could unlock it for him so i tried to do so thinking i could use ultrasnow. I jailbroke it first using redsnow 09.6b2 and pointed it on its firmware 4.1 (from iclarified) when it asked for one and the jailbreak went through perfectly.
But then what he forgot to tell me was that there the wifi wasnt working on his phone. There would just be that thing circling next to the connecting to wifi but nothing would show up. So there is no way for me to get into cydia and get the ultrasnow right? So i read thru some forums here and found that the wifi thing is a bug with the ios4 when u update? So i thought of downgrading the phone instead to 3.1.3. When i tried to do that using the full restore where u shift click the restore button and select the 3.1.3 firmware, it was going okay it first but then i got a 1015 error in itunes that the phone cant be restored. So i did the recovery fix (which i was able to succesfully do to another friend's iphone) it almost worked with this one but i coouldnt connect to itunes after coz i get the message:: "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card" This is where i am stuck. I dont even know what firmware the phone is currently in after what i did.

Jun 15, 2012I have an unlocked iPhone3GS that I used in Thailand for 2 years with a Thai SIM card. Now I am back in the USA and I got a AT&T SIM card without a contract. I wanted to update to the newer version of iOS so I contacted AT&T and had them do an authorized iPhone unlock. I backed up my iPhone and then restored it in iTunes. After restarting the phone iTunes told me there was no SIM card installed in the device. I've taken the AT&T SIM card out and put it back in but nothing changes.

The phone is now working OK (including connecting to PC Suite) but I can't see the option to restore the information (calendar and contacts) from my memory card to my phone. I know it should be in File Manager, Memory Card, Options, but the option simply isn't there- I can either remove my memory card, or back up my phone to the memory card which as it has no information on it I don't want to do!

Oct 5, 2015I just unlocked my bootloader, and following the subsequent reset I tried to restore from my backup in the SD Card. Everything shows up, the SD Card with the date I backed up and everything. When I click the button, nothing happens. It registers my touch, I get the button animation and the little "ting" sound, but that's it. It stays in that screen and nothing happens.
