IPhone :: Failed Restore On 3GS Because ITunes Says There Is No SIM Card Installed
Jun 15, 2012
I have an unlocked iPhone3GS that I used in Thailand for 2 years with a Thai SIM card. Now I am back in the USA and I got a AT&T SIM card without a contract. I wanted to update to the newer version of iOS so I contacted AT&T and had them do an authorized iPhone unlock. I backed up my iPhone and then restored it in iTunes. After restarting the phone iTunes told me there was no SIM card installed in the device. I've taken the AT&T SIM card out and put it back in but nothing changes.
Am trying to restore my iPhone 3GS iOS, instead it tells me 'There is no SIM card installed in the phone you are attempting to activate'.i am using my phone in kenya, i had jailbroken it, then updated the software from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1 so it can't read my SIM card.
My iphone keeps telling me that "iphone could not activate" when i try to activate it through wi-fi. When i try connecting it to itunes itunes says that "could not activate this iphone cause there is no sim card in the phone that you are trying to activate" I have a brand new sim card installed in the phone.
i got this iphone 3g from a friend. He got it for the US from another person. We have no idea what the carrier is or if its factory unlocked or not. The phone was not jailbroken or anything. Then one day my friend updated his iphone 3g to the ios 4.1 which also upgraded his baseband to 06.15.00 so the phone is now locked and no sim here in Bahrain can be used. He asked me if i could unlock it for him so i tried to do so thinking i could use ultrasnow. I jailbroke it first using redsnow 09.6b2 and pointed it on its firmware 4.1 (from iclarified) when it asked for one and the jailbreak went through perfectly.
But then what he forgot to tell me was that there the wifi wasnt working on his phone. There would just be that thing circling next to the connecting to wifi but nothing would show up. So there is no way for me to get into cydia and get the ultrasnow right? So i read thru some forums here and found that the wifi thing is a bug with the ios4 when u update? So i thought of downgrading the phone instead to 3.1.3. When i tried to do that using the full restore where u shift click the restore button and select the 3.1.3 firmware, it was going okay it first but then i got a 1015 error in itunes that the phone cant be restored. So i did the recovery fix (which i was able to succesfully do to another friend's iphone) it almost worked with this one but i coouldnt connect to itunes after coz i get the message:: "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card" This is where i am stuck. I dont even know what firmware the phone is currently in after what i did.
I'm planning to restore my iPhone while updating to iOS 4 since I've bee using the same old backup for 3 years or so now, installed a bunch of thing etc... so I want to start from scratch.
The only thing I don't want to lose are my SMS.I also don't want to jailbreak my iPhone. What are the solution to backup only my SMS (so not regular iTunes backup) and then restore that only to my freshly installed iOS4?
I dont know how to connect to my itunes on my other pc, as it does not have itunes installed on it. I dont know how to untether my iphone so that I can use my personal hotspot
i updated my app world, and now whenever i open it, i get a message that "my blackberry identity needs to be updated, " then when i try to update it, it says Blackberry Identity Installation failed, and app world closes.
if I restore factory setting to my iPhone, is it still possible to restore the backup from itune/ icloud to get the purchased apps and other informations?
i tried to update my iphone and it gave an unknown error message with code (1015) which rendered the phone useless unless i restore. then i tried restoring it but gave the same error message after its almost done. please help me on how to restore my iphone even if its without the update.
I have installed the Internet Radio Application onto my Nokia N95 8 GB. With the T-Mobile wireless broadband I can browse stations, but when trying to play a station it states "Playback Failed". When trying to connect through my w/lan (which works, as I can use it to browse the internet) the "Internet Radio Applet" states "No Network Connection". After trying this several times I have uninstalled the applet from the phone memory and installed it again in the 8 GB mass memory. No change - the same problems persist. What is wrong with Internet Radio on the N95 8GB?
after intalling IOS Ver 5.1 update on my iphone4s my phone can not find Sim card and show the message "no Sim card installed". I restored my phone from itune backup but still it can not find sim card.
I just put in my request to unlock my iPhone 4 from AT&T.My contract has expired, and my old phone number is no longer active as of about 2 weeks ago, I also no longer live in the US (I've already travelled abroad), but they said that it would have no problem to unlock my iPhone as it's all done via iTunes. I still have my old AT&T Sim card, but the number is not activate and like I said I'm in another country.
I have heard for the unlock process to be completed you need an activate sim card installed in the phone. Does it matter what carrier's sim I use (can I use a local one?) or does it absolutely have to be an AT&T sim? I'm in Dubai now and have an active prepaid du sim card (they said it can easily be cut to micro-sim).
Contacting AT&T from here is a nightmare (the "international" number they gave me won't dial out and the website won't let me access my old account info since it's closed now and thus can't access their web chat either).
I got unlocked iphone 3GS through AT&T yesterday, and after email confirmation followed instruction, plugged in with itune, did factory restore succesfully. But after that itune didn't activate my phone, showed me message 'There is no SIM CARD installed in the iPhnoe I called AT&T again, they said initial unlock wasn't successful, so they reset unlock again and asked me to do again factory restore and then activate through itune.Unfotunately I can't do that now, because after previous restore I can't see any update, backup, restore button in itune, only showing me above message 'No Sim card~'. Now AT&T asked me to contact Apple, since they unlocked iphone. Apple is asking $29 , but they are not sure if they can resolve this. Also I am not in USA, so not carrying any AT&T or US number. Apple is suggesting buy new AT&T SIM and do this factory restore again, not sure if it will help.
Now I have 2 case open with AT&T and Apple, but both are passing envelope to each other. I'm feeling like a fool, since my iphone was working earlier with local unlock, but became greedy by hearing that AT&T is officially unlocking phone (which they did I guess So thought of upgrade to latest versions etc. I think I digged my grave.
I've just spent 2 hours before work last night, and another 3 since getting back, trying to figure out why iPhone 3G syncs kept dropping my Skype and Shazam apps.Performed 3 full time-consuming restores. Then every other bit of online advice I could find.Clicking "reset warnings" finally revealed this ( image included )I had always trusted iTunes to Then a chat with a Skype agent reveals they don't support older versions or my 3G phone without iSO.4 Are ALL companies so out of touch with those struggling in the economic realities since 2008 ?!Apple, Skype, etc don't forget to update every blessed time we innovate relentlessly
It was working but signal from etisalat carrier was not so I turn it off until the apple logo appear but it cannot reboot it. Then I restore and updated the phone with itunes but know this message appear " There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate." The Man who sold me this iPhone told that this phone is from America and I thought it would work here like any other phone but in this case it doesn't work at all.
After upgrading the IOS version to 5.1.1 into my iPhone 4 I started receiving the message "No SIM Card Installed" constantly. I reset the phone and worked for a while, but then the message poped up again. Even the Airplane Mode "on/off" solved temporarily the problem but as the same as above, the message poped up again. I went to the local carrier store here (in Brazil) and the attendant told me this new version was not compatible with iPhone 4, only the 4S version. Anyway, I'm trying to restore the old version but when attempting to update, it goes straight to the 5.1.1 version. Is there any way to update until the 5.0.X instead?
I recently unlocked my iphone from AT&T and itunes upgraded to latest software. Now my iphone does not recognize AT&T sim. Does anyone know how to fix it. Pls help as I have an officially unlocked iphone(after much wait ) and now can't use any other sim. Why it's always with iphones...
I have followed the advice on the support website as to how to get service on my phone. My system is all updated including carrier systems. I have even tried restoring the whole thing (even though its new) and it still shows - no service. What should i do?
I have recently had my lap top repaired and my Itunes has had to be erased, I have reinstalled Itunes and my Itunis es music library is now empty and I did not make a back up, is there anyway I can transfer all the music from Iphone back in to my music library if I sync it with Itunes library it is going to wipe all the music on my phone
I restored iOS in my 3GS iphone. It has been listed under devices of the iTunes window but a message is saying there is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate. What shall I do to activate my iphone?
I tried to restore my 3Gs. It was jailbroken on 3.1.3. The restore failed. I tried using tiny umbrella and RecBoot and it still said i could only restore and upgrade, so i decided after trying that a bunch of times to just do the manual reset from within the settings on the phone. It was on the apple logo with the spinnging thing for like an hour, and now its just stuck on the apple logo. I put it into DFU and tried exiting DFU (like i did earlier) using recboot but now it just wont leave the apple logo.
