IPhone :: Sim Card Not Supported After Trying To Restore 3g 4.1- Message In ITunes?
Mar 12, 2012
i got this iphone 3g from a friend. He got it for the US from another person. We have no idea what the carrier is or if its factory unlocked or not. The phone was not jailbroken or anything. Then one day my friend updated his iphone 3g to the ios 4.1 which also upgraded his baseband to 06.15.00 so the phone is now locked and no sim here in Bahrain can be used. He asked me if i could unlock it for him so i tried to do so thinking i could use ultrasnow. I jailbroke it first using redsnow 09.6b2 and pointed it on its firmware 4.1 (from iclarified) when it asked for one and the jailbreak went through perfectly.
But then what he forgot to tell me was that there the wifi wasnt working on his phone. There would just be that thing circling next to the connecting to wifi but nothing would show up. So there is no way for me to get into cydia and get the ultrasnow right? So i read thru some forums here and found that the wifi thing is a bug with the ios4 when u update? So i thought of downgrading the phone instead to 3.1.3. When i tried to do that using the full restore where u shift click the restore button and select the 3.1.3 firmware, it was going okay it first but then i got a 1015 error in itunes that the phone cant be restored. So i did the recovery fix (which i was able to succesfully do to another friend's iphone) it almost worked with this one but i coouldnt connect to itunes after coz i get the message:: "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card" This is where i am stuck. I dont even know what firmware the phone is currently in after what i did.

It was working fine first when it came but it didn't have any of my data on it and it was jail broken. I researched into this and it said that a restore of the software would get rid of that and then I'd be able to put my own data onto it. It was extracting the software everything seemed like a normal restore but then it came up with the message "the SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported" I cannot get passed it and O2 (I'm in the uk) the staff in my local shop just didn't have a clue what to do.

I have an unlocked iPhone3GS that I used in Thailand for 2 years with a Thai SIM card. Now I am back in the USA and I got a AT&T SIM card without a contract. I wanted to update to the newer version of iOS so I contacted AT&T and had them do an authorized iPhone unlock. I backed up my iPhone and then restored it in iTunes. After restarting the phone iTunes told me there was no SIM card installed in the device. I've taken the AT&T SIM card out and put it back in but nothing changes.

I have an iphone 3G Modem firmware 02.28.00 t was jailbroken for me by a friend in UK when brand new. I don’t know which prog was used but I have Cydia and Installer and also a pineapple logo when I reboot. I think there is a sourse app.yellowsn0w in my Cydia too. I don't remember. Anyway, I am abroad now for a year and not going back to UK straight away so I need help here if you can. I have never updated the phone software again after that. Never had any problems until today. As usual, had my MacBook software update done(iTunes was updated too – maybe that's the problem?) and then connected my iphone.
Got the message “SIM is not supported blah, blah, blah…” The phone is working fine otherwise. Calls, texts and everything else are not affected. The only thing is that I can’t update my music, pics, contacts and calendars Please advise what to do. Should I update my iphone Modem firmware? I know that newer software is better but I am worried that I won’t be able to do everything correctly and might block my iphone to “unusable” state. All I want is a minimum of changes – just to get the iphone to upload music, pics, contacts and calendars. If you believe that I should update the Modem firmware – I really want to have all the latest features – please tell me how and what firmware to update to(what’s unlockable now?), what programs to use and everything else. I have been told that I need to "hacktivate" in order to unlock and to be able to sync with iTunes. Can I just unlock without any more jailbreaking? And I must have the required software on my iphone already if it was jailbroken, right?

After completing an update to IOS4, the iPhone is now locked. Whenever I try to connect with iTunes, it says that SIM cards is not supported... What I can only see on the screen is the USB cable that shows it should be connected to iTunes.

Long story short: A friend of mine was given an unlocked 3G from her cousin that had 3.1.2 on it I'm assuming. She was using it on T-mobile. She accidentally updated to 3.1.3... I tried a few things a few weeks back to reverse that but had no luck. Now, even with an AT&T SIM card, I'm still getting the SIM not supported message in iTunes. The phone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen, so I can't put it into airplane mode either. I decided to wait until iOS 4 was released to give it another shot. Same thing. I put it into DFU mode, updated to iOS 4, no luck. I'm running 10.6.4, and iTunes 9.2. I know the unlock for iOS 4 hasn't been released yet and that's fine. I just want to get it so she can use the iPhone as an iPod touch for now until iOS 4 is able to be unlocked.

When I plug in my iPhone 5s I get a message saying "this accessory may not be supported." I have done some research and I have found that this occurs when you use non apple certified chargers, which by the way I am not using. I have also been told not to use the iPad adapted either, which I am not. So, if I am using the original cable and adapter, then why am I getting this message? What should I do?

Iphone 5 died last week. Completely dead. Can't be salvaged.  Problems began after software update and the "this accessory" may not be supported error messages and issues. Â
Trying to wait to purchase a replacement after Sept 9th I reactivated a iphone4. Working fine. On a job, using it, put it in my bag, pull it out, its COMPLETELY dead. Will not turn on. Not recognized by itunes, won't turn with any approach. It also had the software update. Â
What in the world?? Â
So now I have two dead phones and two weeks until the 6 comes out.

After upgrading the firmware to 071 from 054, my E72 can't read sms if the sms comes from BlackBerry 9780 (Onyx 2). My E72 can receive and read other sms from other devices, but if the sms is sent from BB 9780, it will say error message: "The message format is not supported".I haven't try to soft or hard reset yet since there're a lot of applications on my E72 and I don't have the time to reinstall and resetting all of them.

I have an E72-2, when i bought it, the phone was without a memory card so i purchased a blank one. Lately i am having repeatedly a message on the screen saying "remove memory card and press ok". I called nokia care and they told me to format the memory card which i did but still having the same problem. I tried backing up, formatting and then restoring many times : still the same. so i emptied every thing from the card : removed installed apps and music files and pictures and used the phone for a couple of days , everything was ok. Now i put back the music files on the card (through usb connection) and re-assigned ringing tones, the problem appears again and the phone is not reading the card (it's there but it's like blank) like it's rejecting it.
My question is : is the problem in the memory card (corrupted, defected) or in the phone? if it's the card I don't want it to damage the phone, should i buy a new one to resolve the problem? At nokia care they told me that just formatting the card will make it as new, is that correct?

I have had my BB Torch 9800 since May 2011, and I had a media card (SD 2GB) in there since Day 1. Early November came around and my phone's media folder was completely empty and I was unable to view any of my pictures, music, etc from my external media card, but the internal built in media card still works just fine. I went into my local AT&T store just for kicks and giggles to see if they could do something (they couldn't). I consider myself an advanced Blackberry user, for I have had a Blackberry for a number of years. The torch is my 7th Blackberry and this is the first time I have had a problem with any of my phones. Not to diss the Torch or Blackberry, but this isn't their finest work. Back to the point, how can I get my phone to recognize my media device?

My son has passed his iphone 4s on to me as he now has a new one, he has had it unlocked from his carrier, but when I try to connect via itunes I get the message 'The SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported'. I have read numerous posts and support pages and most say to restore the phone and all will be well. The problem I have is how do I restore the phone if I can't connect to itunes?
