I just put in my request to unlock my iPhone 4 from AT&T.My contract has expired, and my old phone number is no longer active as of about 2 weeks ago, I also no longer live in the US (I've already travelled abroad), but they said that it would have no problem to unlock my iPhone as it's all done via iTunes. I still have my old AT&T Sim card, but the number is not activate and like I said I'm in another country.
I have heard for the unlock process to be completed you need an activate sim card installed in the phone. Does it matter what carrier's sim I use (can I use a local one?) or does it absolutely have to be an AT&T sim? I'm in Dubai now and have an active prepaid du sim card (they said it can easily be cut to micro-sim).
Contacting AT&T from here is a nightmare (the "international" number they gave me won't dial out and the website won't let me access my old account info since it's closed now and thus can't access their web chat either).

The 3g does not have a working SIM card installed. It is running off of iOS 4.?.?

I got unlocked iphone 3GS through AT&T yesterday, and after email confirmation followed instruction, plugged in with itune, did factory restore succesfully. But after that itune didn't activate my phone, showed me message 'There is no SIM CARD installed in the iPhnoe I called AT&T again, they said initial unlock wasn't successful, so they reset unlock again and asked me to do again factory restore and then activate through itune.Unfotunately I can't do that now, because after previous restore I can't see any update, backup, restore button in itune, only showing me above message 'No Sim card~'. Now AT&T asked me to contact Apple, since they unlocked iphone. Apple is asking $29 , but they are not sure if they can resolve this. Also I am not in USA, so not carrying any AT&T or US number. Apple is suggesting buy new AT&T SIM and do this factory restore again, not sure if it will help.
Now I have 2 case open with AT&T and Apple, but both are passing envelope to each other. I'm feeling like a fool, since my iphone was working earlier with local unlock, but became greedy by hearing that AT&T is officially unlocking phone (which they did I guess So thought of upgrade to latest versions etc. I think I digged my grave.

It was working but signal from etisalat carrier was not so I turn it off until the apple logo appear but it cannot reboot it. Then I restore and updated the phone with itunes but know this message appear " There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate." The Man who sold me this iPhone told that this phone is from America and I thought it would work here like any other phone but in this case it doesn't work at all.

After upgrading the IOS version to 5.1.1 into my iPhone 4 I started receiving the message "No SIM Card Installed" constantly. I reset the phone and worked for a while, but then the message poped up again. Even the Airplane Mode "on/off" solved temporarily the problem but as the same as above, the message poped up again. I went to the local carrier store here (in Brazil) and the attendant told me this new version was not compatible with iPhone 4, only the 4S version. Anyway, I'm trying to restore the old version but when attempting to update, it goes straight to the 5.1.1 version. Is there any way to update until the 5.0.X instead?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked iPhone3GS that I used in Thailand for 2 years with a Thai SIM card. Now I am back in the USA and I got a AT&T SIM card without a contract. I wanted to update to the newer version of iOS so I contacted AT&T and had them do an authorized iPhone unlock. I backed up my iPhone and then restored it in iTunes. After restarting the phone iTunes told me there was no SIM card installed in the device. I've taken the AT&T SIM card out and put it back in but nothing changes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Bundle update, but still every so often, when I get a notification it is not in a tone I have set. I check the storage and none of my files are shown: pics or sounds.
So I battery pull it, and it's fine. But then later on, it can just go again. I have a Lexar 16gb card in the phone. What's causing this?
Every time I connect my phone to a laptop, all of my apps that are saved to the sd card disappear from the home screen. Also, if I move an app to the sd card, when it's not connected to a computer, it disappears from my home screen as well.It seems like a recent update to the phone has caused problems with app to sd functionality. Is there any way to fix this other than moving all my apps back to the phone?

Having had issues with my SIM card (I was getting invalid SIM daily) my provider swapped the SIM and ported the number to a new card. Since doing this however Facetime no longer works or the find iphone ability through iCloud - just says that its not available. Phone is working fine on everything else. Is there some sort of registration I need to go through with the new SIM card?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have not had this problem before Gingerbread and have just now noticed it after backing up some SD card data to my PC.Turns out that, when I connect the Droid X to the PC and the SD card is unmounted by that process, several icons disappear from my home screen. It appears to be apps that have partially installed themselves to the SD card (I have not manually moved anything to the SD card or installed apps there because I still have several gigabytes of space on the phone itself) and only those apps. Interestingly they appear to only be games (Angry Birds, Need For Speed Shift, The Sims 3...)I ran an experiment on the phone itself and simply unmounted the SD card and, sure enough, the same apps disappeared from the home screen after I replaced them. Then I did it again by connecting the phone to the PC and again they disappeared.
So this only happens when unmounting the SD card for me. I looked through as many postings on this as I could and I do not have any of the apps mentioned that may be causing this problem, I have gigabytes of free space on both the phone and the SD card, RAM is not filled, and nothing but the basic phone apps are running. Rebooting or battery pulling does not bring the icons back. And this only happened on Gingerbread. The same games did not disappear when I connected the phone to the PC on Froyo.
Will siri work withsim card installedbut no data plan and wifi is available .
