I had an iPhone 3GS that was no longer under contract. Yesterday, I bought an iPhone 4S from Verizon and switched my phone number from the 3GS to the 4S. After transferring all of my apps and other data to the new 4S phone, I reset the 3GS to the original factory settings and gave it to my mother, to use as an iPod touch. It works fine. She can connect to wifi, check email, sync with iTunes, download apps under her iTunes account, etc. The phone has never been "jailbroken" or had SIM cards swapped out, or anything similar. It still has the original SIM card that that I bought the phone with, in August 2009.
Now that the 3GS is working as an iPod Touch, do I need to remove the SIM card? Should I? My concern is that AT&T will hit me with some nefarious fee at some point in the future for reasons that I don't understand. Should this be a concern?

I updated my old iphone 3GS to iOS 5.1 and now I can't use it as just an ipod. It won't sync without a SIM card. I don't need one. Can someone help me out?
I want to lock the iPod app to prevent it from playing. I have earphones with remote connected to the phone all the time. The remote on the earphones keep turning on the iPod app and plays the music while in my pocket. I want to lock it so it won't play.
My daughter has an ipod touch 4g synced to a macbook pro. she will be getting an iphone today so when she sets up the iphone and loads some of the apps she already has on her ipod will the data transfer over? like game progress and such? if she has current 'words with friends' games going on will they just load onto the phone? i don't want her to put her ipod backup onto the phone because it's a 32gb and the iphone won't be. i'm trying to show her that she doesn't need to carry around a phone with 4000 pics on it for example.

It's basically a paperweight. I fell asleep one night and it was working fine and the next morning it wouldn't even turn on! The screen is off and I can't seem to turn it on. Also, when I plug it into a computer the computer doesn't even realize anything has been connected.
I am unable to use my Iphone 3GS as an Ipod, my Iphone is stuck on activating your iphone, I am using an activated AT&T sim card. how I cn bypass the activation screen to use my iphone as an Ipod.
I just got an iphone 3g that I want to use as an ipod touch, it has been restored to the newest software (4.2.1) but I do not have a sim card for it. Due to this I can not get beyond the emergency call screen. Is there a way I can bypass this?? to get it to set up with my itunes and use wifi only?
I have an Iphone and Ipod I want to sync the Iphone and the Ipod with different music and apps also I would like my wallpapers to remain seperate if possible. When I sync my Iphone to Itunes library I lost all apps and it reset the whole phone. When I did the sync for Ipod I gained contacts and every app I have ever downloaded from both devices. I do not understand why I am unable to retrieve this information for the Iphone.

I have an old iPhone 3G that I want to use as an iPod touch. Unfortunatly the sim caddy is broken inside the phone, is there anyway to bypass the sim requirement to activate it so I can use it?
can i use face time between my iphone 4s and my sons ipod touch 4th gen eventhough they are both registered to the same apple account and same email address?
I've had the newest ipod touch for a year and had songs on it. i just got an iPhone 4. How do i get music from my ipod to my iphone? They wernt set up on the same computer.
I would have thought that the iPod app would have been a much better place to have Ping. I hardly ever use the iTunes app on the iPhone, it's hidden away in a folder of apps I don't use but can't delete.
The iPod app would have been much better imo and makes more sense. It's an app used daily by most people. You are listening to something on the go, you like it, you click to recommend. You can look up info on the artist you are currently playing and so on. Doubt I will ever use it when it's in the ITunes app.
I downloaded the new OS4 this morning and was listening to music fine on my way to work. I bought a song on itunes and now for some reason the ipod function keeps crashing? Apps etc all work fine but when i try to listen to music, nothing happens and it reverts itself back to the front screen.Any help would be appreciated.
Not sure if this has been addressed before or what exactly to call it, but why is it with my ipod touch I can manage, copy & play music & movies from any of my 3 home & work Macs via itunes & with the iphone I can only do it from "home" computer? Is there a 3rd party app that allows this on an iphone? I see all kinds of apps that let you copy files/media from your iphone to your mac been none that work the other way.
