Sony Ericsson :: Horrible Signal Strength After Debranding
Aug 12, 2010My Mum bought a Sony Ericsson C510 which has an unsightly "Tesco Mobile" logo on the right softkey. On the first night, I took to 'debranding' by dumping a custom_upgrade.xml in the phone's ROM using A2 uploader and then running Sony Ericsson updater so it fetched a normal firmware ROM (Western Europe C6A, 1209-4774). Afterwards the signal strength was abysmal so I tried a UK custom CDA then finally just went back to the TESCO CDA... (there's however no way of me knowing if it's the exact same CDA though, it was listed on A2 CDA generator). It was showing full-strength for a while - overnight it's back to abysmal strength. There's a chance it was like this before - though I recall seeing it on full bars when she'd just got it out the packaging. Now I'm really unsettled that I've screwed her new phone. Doesn't help that I was like "Dad, I updated the software on Mum's phone and now..." he was displeased as he remembers my motorola modding days. Ofcourse I didn't dare mention that I fiddled with the way it updated. Is it possible I'm just noticing this now? The CDA just changes the region/branding of the firmware SUSE fetches, right. Jul 23, 2010I got two separate e-mails overnight from Apple saying they had already automatically refunded me for my bumpers (I thought they would only refund one, but who knows. I have two bumpers and got two e-mails about refunds). I suppose this is "cool" of them to do, but I actually did NOT want a refund. I wanted a free bumper/case.
The thing is, I purchased my iPhone and bumpers with AT&T Rebate cards (pre-paid Visa cards), both of which expire at the end of this month. What in the world am I supposed to do if the refund doesn't get credited back to my card before the cards expire?

Jun 16, 2010Due to some AT&T glitch I was one of the few that couldn't pre-order until about 5 hours ago. Now the iPhone is only shipping by July 14th. If I go ahead and order one on Apple's website for my line will I still be able to wait in line on launch day and buy a phone for that same line (with my upgrade) or will I then be forced to pay the $599/$699 price point (due to me having already ordered one on Apple's site)?
Right now I'm eligible for the $199/$299 price point.

Jul 22, 2010I ordered the Defender for my Iphone 4 2 days ago and got it today - That's fast shipping (paid for 3 day shipping).I love this case, but having never owned one of these cases in the past, I was instantly overwhelmed with how to break it down to put the phone into it. The directions are pictures on the inside of the box and not very clear. This is my only complaint.I eventually figured it out and I can tell you it is the best case I have ever owned. It does add bulk, but it has a nice tactile feel to it and access to all ports. The incuded holster with belt clip is rock soild. If I knew how to upload pictures here, I would post some.

Apr 19, 2010Yesterday my cell service dropped has it has been doing every once in a while lately except that this time around I had to reboot the my iphone unlocked 3gs (3.1.3) for it to come back. Today it did it again, I rebooted, the service never came back and my wifi went away.
I used to have the wifi problem before so I uninstalled blacksn0w and it came back. How ever, even after several attempts at reinstalling blacksn0w and several reboots in between, my cell service is gone for good.
Any advice? This has never happened to me before, I am ready to unjailbreak and start all over again, but I would rather not.
Also, every time I install blacksn0w now the phone says " Searching..." and my wifi stops working. It is also worth noting that I have not installed anything new at all on my phone lately.
Anyone have any wisdom for me?
