Sony Ericsson :: Horrible Signal Strength After Debranding

My Mum bought a Sony Ericsson C510 which has an unsightly "Tesco Mobile" logo on the right softkey. On the first night, I took to 'debranding' by dumping a custom_upgrade.xml in the phone's ROM using A2 uploader and then running Sony Ericsson updater so it fetched a normal firmware ROM (Western Europe C6A, 1209-4774). Afterwards the signal strength was abysmal so I tried a UK custom CDA then finally just went back to the TESCO CDA... (there's however no way of me knowing if it's the exact same CDA though, it was listed on A2 CDA generator). It was showing full-strength for a while - overnight it's back to abysmal strength. There's a chance it was like this before - though I recall seeing it on full bars when she'd just got it out the packaging. Now I'm really unsettled that I've screwed her new phone. Doesn't help that I was like "Dad, I updated the software on Mum's phone and now..." he was displeased as he remembers my motorola modding days. Ofcourse I didn't dare mention that I fiddled with the way it updated. Is it possible I'm just noticing this now? The CDA just changes the region/branding of the firmware SUSE fetches, right. I recently debranded my C905a and I want to know if anyone knows for a fact that if by doing so I have reduced my phone's ability to mainain a decent reception signal. If I remeber correctly, I had the same problem before I debranded. I've called Sony Ericsson about the low reception strength and they told me that it was a network problem. I know that is not true b/c before the C905a, I was using a Nokia 2610 (a cheapie until I could upgrade) and that phone always had a signal virtually anywhere and I can count on 1 hand how many dropped calls I had using that phone. I do live out in a semi-rural area but, my mother has a Nokia 6555 (I live w/ her) and she does not have the problem with dropped calls like I do. But, w/ the C905a, I have to put the phone on speaker 3/4 of the time b/c when I put the phone to my ear, it simply looses all reception. The closer to the city I get, the reception problem becomes less an issue.

I am trying to debrand my SE phone, using this article as a guide: http://www.associatedcontent.[....]nd_a_sonyericsson.html?cat=15. I installed all the necessary programs and drivers, created an .xml file (for generic American version), transferred it to phone, tried SE Update Service, no go. Says I already have the newest software. I tried creating a new .xml file, but this time using Western Europe instead of America. Still, Update Service says my software is new enough. Then I tried going back and creating a generic American .xml and using Update Service to reinstall my OS, but that only reinstalled the old and customized AT&T OS which is what I'm trying to get rid of. So my questions are: 1) I was sort of reluctant to debrand in the first place, but what is the worst thing that can happen if debranding fails? 2) Is there some other CDA number I can use (instead of America/W. Europe) and still be able to use my phone with my service provider? Perhaps Central or Eastern Europe?

I was wondering if anyone knows what algorithm is used for the signal bars on the Photon 4G. I have found that there seems to be no correlation between the signal strength (in dBm / asu) in Settings -> About phone -> Status and the signal bars that are shown. Often the signal bars will shoot from 1 to 5 or 6 even with really low signal ( ~97 to > 100 dBm) that doesn't fluctuate.

Is there any way of boosting the GPS Signal, either via an app or an external antenna, or any software tweak?I like to use Wisepilot in the car, but 9 times out of 10 there is no GPS signal available, or it drops the signal most of the time, rendering the Wisepilot unusable. The other other app that I know is running is Roadsync (for my emails) I am connecting thru T-Mobile internet. Is that the right setting? I mount the phone in a holder on the dashboard near the windscreen. Why can't the phone find a signal? It doesn't seem to make much difference whether it's a clear day or overcast.

There are far too many complaining about this, are there any fixes for it yet? I have this problem also. Its intermittent at the moment, I can recreate this occasionally or just coincidence? If I try making a call while the signal bar is red, I can't make the call so if then I hang up, then the emergency calls appears even though the signal bar goes full (blue). If I reboot the phone it works fine for a short while.

I have been using aino for 3months...Recently I found a serious problem in my mobile device. That is: When I go into the elevator , It could not get through (normal situation) But when I am out of the elevator,My aino still could not find any signal for transmisson (this ocuurs everytime when I am out of the lift or somewhere such as ktv,restaurant and so on if I turn off the cell the phone and then restart ,it could work again. and it is the only way available to solve the problem. I have another se model w810c, I have tested several times to decide whether it is caused by the sim card and the network service center(China mobile) or not The same problem does not exist on w810c

I have this model phone which has been working very well until today.It started by not sending a text message, and then seemed to go out of signal.I have tried everything normal - resetting, testing phone out with another sim etc.It appears that the sim is the problem as it will not work in another handset, and is displaying no signal there.In the W380i, there is a strange symbol, a telephone with a red line through it, which I cannot trace anywhere in the user manual or online.Does anyone know what this indicates? - ie is it a network fault, or something wrong with the sim?

Is it possible to use my mp3s on the micro sd as a ringtone/alarm signal? I have followed the guide on this site (menu>settings>sound&alerts>ringtones) and this brings me to a music folder containing 2 folders (ringtones & my radio recs) but no mp3s. Do i need to put my music into the ringtones folders?

I have a Sony Ericsson K770i. A couple of months ago, something very strange happened. My memory card stops working and when I turn the phone off and back on again, it tells me "memory needs to be formated" or something like this. So it knows that there is a memory card in it, but it cant read it. And now, the display goes crazy ( it looks like a TV channel with bad signal). Sometimes, it fixes itself just with time, and sometimes, it doesn't even when I remove the battery and put it back in. I have tried flashing the phone and updating it, but nothing works.

Ii have a sony ericsson vivaz UI5 and would like to no if S E would speed up the signal from 3G to 2G when the signal drops and switches over as I always seem to loose the phone signal because 3G signal stays on 1 bar then 0 for to long before it switches over to 2G. my nokia 5800 switched over much faster with no signal lost when switching over please could this be resolved in the next firmware update as sony ericsson vivaz has the same symbian S60 5th edition OS with more powerful hardware.

I have a problem with my signal when I enter my college building, the reception will fall so low that it will show "no service" and if I try to manually connect to my service provider, it says they are unavailable. my sim works fine, I've recently received a new sim, and my phone is updated to 2.1, awaiting the 2.3 update.
I've upgraded from a Samsung Jet and even that had perfect signal in lessons, never went below 2 bars, so why is the X10 so poor at signal strength? is there anything I can do to stop this? is the phone at fault here?

I bought new iphone 5s and facing huge problem with Signal strength it always show "No service"
But when I change my SIM card to my samsung phone then I am getting the signals properly at same location (My room).
If Samsung can access the signals why iphone can not ? Every time when I need to talk to somebody I have to go out of my room which is very irritating.

hoping someone can help me out here. I have a Sony Ericsson W595 This afternoon I went to make a call and found I couldn't get into my contacts list - I'd press select and nothing would happen. The phone would not be frozen, however. Then, on my "recent calls" list all my contacts' names had been replaced with an "e" with an acute accent. Later, I lost signal so took the battery out and replaced it, which didn't help. My message counter and phone theme were reset but the time and date were not. I removed and replaced the SIM card, which also had no effect. I then put my SIM card in a Motorola Pebl and got full signal and could receive texts again, so I assume it is a phone fault, not a SIM problem.

The first week i had my iPhone 4, i had about 1 bar.Right now i am having 3 bars which is what i usually get and sometimes 5 bars which never happened with my iPhone 3G.I heard that AT&T is enhancing their signal strength because of the overflow of the new iPhone 4 which could make sense but what about you?

Im having a huge problem with my phone. Galaxy s5 is the phone. Sent it to Samsung because it wouldn't charge. So they replaced the battery port and LED screen. Sent it back. I hooked it back up. Starting using it and now i cant get 4g anymore. It will come on then go out and have a X on signal bar. Then i cant do anything no calls no text no nothing. I have to switch over to 3G which really sucks. And even that goes out now. Im lost. What to do??. And this is my signal strength -113 dbm 0 asu. Not sure what it means

My iphone 4 will not pick up wifi signals that it did before at all at various locations. Therefore I dont believe its the router.
I have reset the setting for wifi. It did not fix the problem.

Does anyone know how to display signal stength in dbm instead of bars on the Pearl 9105 3g. On other blackberrys you type Alt+mnll but my phone does not have an alt key or a qwerty keys to do this.

If anyone is still having problems with the signal strength, try turning off 3G and Location via Settings section. I constantly had only 1-2 bars, but once turning them off my signal has improved massively; now getting 5 bars 90% of the time. I reckon it is more 3G affecting the signal, but try with both off just to be sure. If it works, then turn on 3G only when needed.

I restarted my router and restored my phone to factory settings and it still wont connect to my home wifi. It will connect at work and everywhere else but home. Every time i try to connect it tells me "Failed to connect to WiFi please check your network connection" or whatever. And when i click on our home WiFi name it says the signal strength is Excellent....
