IPhone :: No 3G Service, Only Edge After IOS 5.1 Update?

That's right folks. I don't get a 3G service and the phone tends to start "Searching" for a couple of seconds until it becomes "No Service". When I disable the 3G service, it then works fine on Edge (full bar).
Anyone out there who has encounted a similar problem as such and have found a way to fix this? I would really appreciate if you could post your experiences below.I also wonder if Apple is going to help fix this problem once and for all in thier next filmware update.

I cannot use my blackberry because the service status has been on edge (small letters), i have tried to get it to change to capital letters so i can use the phone but all to no avail. What do i do please?My bb is a 9700 (white)

My friend and I are both experiencing huge background data usage with the Google Backup Transport service that is part of Google Play Services.
My S6 Edge on 5.1.1 has been steadily increasing it's consumption of background data with this service over the last month and it's currently sitting at having used over 1.7GB.
My friend's Galaxy S4 on 5.0.1 is experiencing almost exactly the same data consumption over the exact same period of time. Something is deffo up with this but what it is.
Some old solutions I've read online include disabling background sync etc. but this isn't a solution and doesn't explain what it had been fine up until this month.

my iphone 4 died while updating to 5.1, it was plugged into my mac but my mac powered down because i didnt have the magnet mag safe thing in all the way. anywho, i turned it on and it says no service. i have restarted, grabbed a new sim, restored the iphone, i reset, i have done everything and i cant call or use 3g, the wifi works fine. i have about 2 months left on my 1 year apple warranty, i live in canada so going to an apple store is 5 hours away.

I bought a referb(haha) 3GS(16gb newer model) from AT&T and it came with IOS 5.0 pre-installed, everything worked fine updated to 5.0.1 as soon as I got it activated. I then upgraded my phone to a 4 and decided to give my 3GS to my brother (who also has a 3GS, just an 8gb version), before I was going to do that, I decided to restore and update, after resetting all settings and updating to 5.1, I put in his SIM into the phone but itunes says that there is no SIM inserted into the phone and I'm not able to activate it. Same for wifi activation, (says server is busy). I've tried another AT&T SIM from another iphone 3GS and the same thing, No service, no SIM, busy server. So I thought It'd try and restore the iphone, I put it into DFU mode, hooked it up to itunes, hit restore and it gives me an error 3194. Oddly enough I don't get this error on my laptop if I restore from there. Either way, my 3GS is no longer working after the 5.1 update. I was told by my friend who works at the apple store that 5.1 does break a few iphones for one of two reasons, but he didn't think the problem with my phone were either of them.

I just updated an Iphone 3GS to OIS 6.1.6 and now the "phone" do not work, I have tried with two different sim cards and it continues to be locked on No Service or switch between Searching and No Service. I have tried switching on and off flight mode. The problem started when I upgraded to 6.1.3. Now I did a complete new installation of 6.1.6 and the problem persists. The phone has not been jailbroken

Finally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) -PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".
Then it proceeds to "Unable to install or start components for update of phone system" and my phone does not get updated.Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.Again, my phone does not get updated. Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).
PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared..

ever since i had the update 5.1.1 for my iphone 3gs it has notbeen able to detect any sim and it is unable to activate, also before i had the update my phone worked perfect with the sim i am using atm which is giff gaff (runs on o2-uk)

I received a message on my XPeria Mini Pro about the 4.1.B.0.587 Update. In fact, I can not install it. When I start the PC Companion software, it finds the connected Phone. Then I click on update. In the following window I click "Accept" and then the software should prepare the PC for the update. But after one second it stops and returns to Start without any comment. When I start Sony Mobile Update Service then it checks for new updates. As soon as the check is over, the program terminates without any comment. Is there a third way to upgrade?

I had been trying to update my Satio's software. It just could not update for me even after I press the call key at the 5th step for more than 10 mins! The top right hand corner bar never moves to "confirm" it just stays at "connect". Can anyone kindly help me? I really don't want to make a trip down to the Service Center as updating of software takes more than a week!

I have tried almost everything. I deleted the file in the Update Service folder, re-downloaded, and reinstalled so many times, tried setting the PCC to check for updates every time phone is plugged in(which it said on the SE website, but isn't an option at all. Could anyone perhaps shed some light. I am getting pretty frustrated with all this nonsense.

my phone is running android 2.1 ( my first update from android 1.6 to 2.1 was successful) after dat im getting this same problem .
i can never update via wifi also ( i get error saying "New Software available.Not enough memory,restart your phone before downloading" but nothing happens i just ended up uninstalling all my apps even ADWlauncher ..the same msg getting displayed again)....

I am unable to download or even check for my s6 edges's software update. Every time I try manually it says ''Unable to download software update a network or server update occurred" It says last checked on 5/10/15. I bought an unlocked At&t S6 edge. However, I don't live in the states and I've read that I can't get OTA firmware updates. My tech said I should flash it on.
Do I have to download all my apps and fine tune my settings all over again?
After flashing, for every other update that will be available will I have to do the same process every time?

i updated my atrix to 4.1.83 and after it installed fine now i no longer have H+ only E for internet speed. "AT&T US HSDPA" is selected. anyone having this problem? my speeds used to be about 2500kbps - 3300kbs now im at 60kbs. apparently 4.1.83 increases speed for others by slowing mine down.

I have used the application before, and it worked fine. Now when I opened it up, I got an error log. I uninstalled it and re-downloaded it, and while installing, I got the same error log. I have tried this in safe mode as well. Firewall and virus protection is off. I have an Xperia x10.

I am thinking of updating my xperia ray to the latest build 4.1.B.0.431When I updated my phone to 4.0.3 i rooted it and removed most of the bloatwares. After doing that i didnt face most of the issues reported for 4.0.3 ICS release. Now my question is, If i update my phone to the latest build will it automatically unroot? Do i have to root it again using doomlords method?
