Galaxy S6 Edge :: Outlook App Using 73% Of Battery Even After Update
Apr 17, 2015
Downloaded the outlook app version 1.9 yesterday to my new S6 Edge and in the morning the battery was gone - from 100%! The log tells me outlook used a whopping 73% of it -
Sometimes my phone syncs with outlook immediately, other times it refuses to. Why doesn't it always sync with Outlook whenever I want to check my emails? I have noticed that typically it will sync with Outlook when I check my emails first thing in the morning (say at 0700) but later in the day (say at 1300), it will still say 'last synced at 0700' and the only way I can get it to download my latest emails is to reboot my phone.
Mostly when my phone is powered on through the night, I only lose like 14% tops in battery percentage difference but on this particular night, I placed it on my Silver MacBook pro and it was a cold weather. Since this is unusual, the questions I have been asking myself is if it could have happened as a result of the contact between the back of the phone and the laptop or what could be the issue`? there are many processes that probably runs overnight on the phone and even in previous times but never seen such a drain like this I it went totally flat from 87%...
I've had the s6 edge since April and within the last 2 weeks the battery life has decreased dramatically I've always used the adaptive fast charger and haven't had a problem until now! I tried switching to a regular charger but no difference. I also downloaded a battery optimizer that says I have hours left but it's still draining plus even with the power saving mode and ultra power saving mode it still drains even with closing all apps and every tip out there!
Just got my new phone, less than a week. Last night I forgot to plug in to charge and the battery died at 2:53 AM... (Still showing on the edge of the screen). Plugged it in for more than 2 hours now it doesn't respond to anything. Hold the power button and so on... Nothing.
Normally the battery drops about 20% per night. Occasionally it's kind of hot/warm and more than 50% dropped. I used an iphone 5 before S6 EDGE, and it dropped around 10~15% per night.Where I sleep has a good 4G signal and WIFI signal. I haven't turned on the "don't disturb" option when I sleep. Also, due to the unacceptable quick power consumption, I have turned on power saving mode all the time, although this makes switching apps slower.
Was using 5.1.1 after update and was having a few little issues, nothing too bad, the battery was acceptable. I did a factory reset to try and iron these issues out..... phone now is better however the battery has taken a large hit.
Nothing obviously causing it. All looks normal, when I have charged fully the battery info shows estimated battery at around 9 to 10 hours brightness set below 50% . It's a bit annoying when you do everything to manage it. Was fairly happy before but now... didn't know if it's feasible to keep.
I know a lot of you here would love the battery life i am getting so i do not mean to sound like i am complaining! I am mostly just curious! Basically i was amazed with how good my battery life was initially. I think on my second full charge i managed 8h30mins screen on time and probably averaged somewhere between 7hours - 8h30mins for the fist few days (needless to say i made tweaks to achieve those results as i always do when i buy a new phone)
I have since disabled anther 2 or 3 apps and i have also turned off location and used black themed wallpapers purely just to test if i could get even further from the battery! However the opposite has happened! Suddenly iam doing well if i make it to 5h30mins
I know that may not seem bad .......... but its not great considering the amount of tweaks i have made and i am at a loss to understand how i was getting 7-8 hours screen on time for the first few days/week!
Iam wondering if i could have disabled an app that could be behind this?
When i viewed my battery usage before i would often see chrome, facebook etc using a little battery where as now its screen, android system, android os, cell standby, device idle etc and recently peoplestripe is appearing as using 1%...
Last night my fully charged S6 Edge was taken off the charger and left next to my bed. When I got up 7.5 hrs later I was very surprised to see that approx half my battery was gone and all due to the stock email sync. I have unlimited data and didn't bother changing the sync to longer intervals rather than push. I have obviously changed the sync interval.
Unfortunately, cell standby has been a major problem of mine for a long time. I know that it has something to do with connecting to WiFi while idle or sending streams of data required by some apps, but I don't know how to reduce the battery strain. It's battery drain can range from taking up to 25%-50% of my battery life, whether or not I use my phone during the day, and my phone will only last about 1/2 of the day.
I have been looking up ways on how to solve this on other popular threads on this site, but none have had any lasting solutions. I have done the usual battery saving tactics like turning down brightness, scanning for Wi-Fi, location, Google now, Bluetooth, sync settings, disabled bloatware that I don't need that commonly suck up battery life on other Galaxies, attempted both turning on and off advanced calling, and attempted the method where you wipe the cache partition and reboot the device, and reset the settings and restored to factory defaults, all of which only reduced the battery strain a little bit.
I am new, both to android and my S6 Edge. It is on 5.0.2, rooted, and do not tell me to RESET TO FACTORY. I can't really do it because I don't want to, there is a lot of great apps and the internet in my country is very bad.
Idk if it is due to the root itself. The closest I got was "cocktailbar service", and my S6 Flip cover (they don't have Edge cover so I improvised).
I check every night for wifi, location services and running activities. However, no matter what I do, I fail. It won't go to sleep. When I wake up, it is really warm and it is at 50-60%. I think it is something you guys call wakelock. This is really frustrating; one reason why I like Apple and their iOS.
I tried various methods. I have some screenshots you can take a look at. You see that it won't go to sleep, not for a second and the CPU is really hot.
I am unable to download or even check for my s6 edges's software update. Every time I try manually it says ''Unable to download software update a network or server update occurred" It says last checked on 5/10/15. Two sprint updates have been released since then .. and i am still unable to download.
I bought an unlocked At&t S6 edge. However, I don't live in the states and I've read that I can't get OTA firmware updates. My tech said I should flash it on.
Do I have to download all my apps and fine tune my settings all over again?
After flashing, for every other update that will be available will I have to do the same process every time?
Anyways I received the AT&T update today and I tried to install it, however i got a pop up saying the installation failed. I currently have my s6 edge rooted.
Updated my S6 Edge(5.1.1) a couple of days ago...messaging is slow on the keys and sending lags when typing. Also when playing a song with headphones/bluetooth connection the song skips..not sure how to fix this?
When I go to wipe my cache partition, before the boot menu appears I get a message every time that says "Installing System Update" and the little Android guy appears and acts like he's doing something. Normally functioning phones seeing this message before getting to their cache wipe?
I've done full Factory Resets twice now and also many cache wipes but I'm wondering if that original T-Mobile update on the first day got hung up and won't fix itself even with Factory Resets. And, wondering if perhaps other T-Mobile users have the same problem too causing the litany of issues we've seen.
after installing the Android 5.1.1 update on my Galaxy S6 edge almost all home screen icons have disappeared, even the bottom ones like phone, contacts and messages. The apps icons in the app drawer have also completely disappeared. The apps are still there and working, but I can only access them when I get a new notification.I have tried rebooting several times, and clearing the Touchwiz launcher data, but nothing changes.
After two years of service, my 8320 suddenly is unable to sync the handheld with my Outlook. It starts off fine and after a few minutes, at the point where it is downloading the calendar from the handheld the program stops working. I have downloaded the 5.0 desktop which did not help.
I recently updating my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and since then have being having problems with the phone overheating and draining the battery. I fully charged the battery and within 2 1/2 hours the phone went from 100% battery life to 8% without me using it. The phone itself also became very hot to touch, both front and back.
I have been having intermittent problems with fast battery drain before and after upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S2 to ICS. In fact the reason why I upgraded to ICS is to see if it would fix it. Most of the articles I have read on the net are about people who have problems after the upgrade, which is why I am left puzzled. Often I leave my phone unplugged during the night and it has almost completely drained by the morning. here is some more information:
- In the battery stats my Android OS percentage is always high (60% +)
- I am always careful with trying to preserve battery life, for example setting the backlight to minimum brightness and closing applications which are running in the background
- I have gone for months where the battery has been fine, but cant seem to spot a trend
I've been noticing my battery draining pretty fast. I've had the phone just over a month and days when I'm at work all day, maybe do some surfing on my lunch or breaks, but nothing to excessive and my battery is down to like 35% when I get home. Before I was going under Settings->Battery and I noticed "Screen" was the number one offender for draining my battery. Which makes sense, it's a bright display and powering it takes a lot of juice. I don't know if it's coincidence or not, however, it's when I started noticing it after installing ICS. Now "Android OS" has replaced it at the top, by a LOT. Here is a list of my top five
Recently my LG Env3 has been acting up. The menu used to be almost instantaneous, but now it lags like a... snail. Also I used to text lightly for about 3 days on a single charge, but now my battery only lasts for about 10 hours or so just being on, no calling or texting.I've owned it for about 3 months, so I don't think the battery would go bad this quickly. Is there a way to disable the 3G or EDGE connections that may be draining battery?btw, it is a Verizon phone running on Page Plus
I recently moved to a brand new AT&T BB9700, it is just awesome, the best change from an old Curve. The thing is I'm having serious problems with the Battery. I'm having annoying and unexpected "blackouts" or "shutdowns", wheterver you may want to call them, with an apparently perfect battery level. Please take notice that the first charge of my BB9700 device was for a full charge as indicated by some of you for 16 hours.
Ever since, I'm having a perfect 3G and EDGE connection, been very careful not leaving open applications, but there are times, when having let's say 30% to even 60% apparently battery level, that the BB9700 completely shuts down, unoperative, without any kind of alert! No low battery led, or indication on the screen whatsoever. This is freaking me out, because this is not supposed to work like that.
I've been reading that there are some of you that have a perfect full day or even more of a regular "BB usage" meaning email, conversations, web browsing, etc. I'm 90% sure the Battery is damaged or faulty, so I need you help to guide me if there is something I'm doing wrong (I think not , and besides need your orientation on how to ask RIM/BB for a replacement battery if effectively my battery is not working as it should, and as I paid to be working!
That's right folks. I don't get a 3G service and the phone tends to start "Searching" for a couple of seconds until it becomes "No Service". When I disable the 3G service, it then works fine on Edge (full bar).
Anyone out there who has encounted a similar problem as such and have found a way to fix this? I would really appreciate if you could post your experiences below.I also wonder if Apple is going to help fix this problem once and for all in thier next filmware update.
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1, no 3g, edge, searching, no service
i updated my atrix to 4.1.83 and after it installed fine now i no longer have H+ only E for internet speed. "AT&T US HSDPA" is selected. anyone having this problem? my speeds used to be about 2500kbps - 3300kbs now im at 60kbs. apparently 4.1.83 increases speed for others by slowing mine down.
