Samsung Galaxy S II :: Fast Battery Drain Before And After ICS Update?
Jan 1, 2013
I have been having intermittent problems with fast battery drain before and after upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S2 to ICS. In fact the reason why I upgraded to ICS is to see if it would fix it. Most of the articles I have read on the net are about people who have problems after the upgrade, which is why I am left puzzled. Often I leave my phone unplugged during the night and it has almost completely drained by the morning. here is some more information:
- In the battery stats my Android OS percentage is always high (60% +)
- I am always careful with trying to preserve battery life, for example setting the backlight to minimum brightness and closing applications which are running in the background
- I have gone for months where the battery has been fine, but cant seem to spot a trend
I've only had my SGSII a week or so but have been very unimpressed with the battery life I've been achieving - not even a full working day.I've been trying to work out what's going on, but this morning things really seemed to come to a head. I'd charge overnight but within an hour and a half of disconnecting the phone almost half the charge had gone & the back of it felt very warm to touch.
Looking at the battery stats and using the Watchdog program it looks like the Samsung Email app is to blame. I also saw the phone was marked as 'awake' much of the time, presumably due to a partial wakelock from the Mail app (battery history in Gingerbread doesn't seem to actually have partial wakelock as a category but this certainly looks like it). I've got three accounts setup in it - 2x Microsoft Exchange and 1x IMAP. Refresh times were initially push (MSEx 1)/manual (MSEx 2)/15 min (IMAP). I've tried changing them all to 15 min or to manual but it doesn't seem to improve matters. In case it is of relevance, the MSEx ones are imposing device & storage encryption as part of their policies (I've no choice in this).
My Samsung Galaxy S2 has suddenly started draining it's battery quick My S2 is sim free and is running Android 2.3.4 it's not rooted it's just standard I checked on battery usage and it says Andriod OS 62% And my battery is on 82% I only fully charged the battery around 2 hrs ago I haven't used it in that time either And the screen sometimes freezes now so I have to do a battery pull It sometimes reboots on it's own too this has only happened today?
I have had a Galaxy S2 for 4 months and love it. I have had no problems at all with the phone at all however yesterday it got hot at the top near the camera lens and the battery died in 2 hours. I turned it off and on and it seemed ok but then did it again. I removed all apps and everything else that was using the cpu as the news and weather app was displaying loading continually I thought that might have something to do with it. It seemed ok for a while and then did it again. I noticed that although there were 3 grey bars of network signal there was no G/3G/H or in/out arrows displayed next to the bars. Tried a manual network search and it seemed ok but then the same thing happened... overheated and battery died fast again. Turned it off and on again...tried to make a call...no connection. I know I do not get a good signal at home but can usually move around and get one but couldn't even after a reboot. Put sim in another phone and it connected ok.
I installed a 32GB Transcend SDHC card into my S2 around 2 or 3 weeks ago. At first it was all good, but then last week, I started noticing the battery started draining quicker than normal. Usually, I can get around 10 hours of use, but this went down at first to 8 hours, then rapidly plummeting to 6 then 4 hours. The shop where I got the phone from advised that it could be software corruption or faulty battery, and they were happy to send the phone off to Samsung to get it checked out, but I decided to run a few tests myself. I bought myself a genuine Samsung high capacity battery (I need it anyway), and installed it. I noticed that the battery drain was still happening, so it was not faulty battery. Then I decided to try removing the SD card.
Using z3,why my battery before this if fully charging it will stated can stay until 2days buy now fully charging but It appears only for 14hours only for the battery
I received my phone week ago i notice that every thing works fine but battery drain so fast. Even with the stamina mode on and brightness is very low and i also set the auto brightness. I also updated my phone to new version but it still same I also clear the stamina mode app settings and when i checked that which app using more battery there no app there. I install same apps which is install in my z3 but z3 give atleast 1 day or like 20hrs battery the why i use it normally the way I use it .
My iphone 4s are getting hot after i on date roaming and drain battery really fast.... I already update my iphone from 5.01 to 5.1, but it wont work...
I've had my Atrix HD for a couple of months, and am generally quite happy with it. The biggest problem I'm having with it is how fast the battery drains when I'm not connected to WIFI. Most of the time I am on WIFI either at work or home. When on WIFI the battery lasts 12 hours or more easily with reasonable use. However, if I'm on the road or out somewhere not connected to WIFI, the battery will drain very quick. For example, yesterday I unplugged my phone at about noon and was at home all day. At 9pm it still had 60% charge. I then left home for the evening, and by midnight the phone was dead. I didn't even make any calls, only checked an address on Google Maps. I did notice the phone was pretty warm during that time.
I've tried turning off WIFI and Bluetooth when I'm out, it doesn't help. It doesn't seem to matter if the phone is on an LTE network or not, as far as I can tell. I had an Atrix 4G previous to this, and never noticed a difference in battery consumption whether I was connected to WIFI or 4G, it seemed pretty consistant.
So last night i charged my battery and it was full before i went to bed....in the morning however i woke up and the battery had somehow drained a good quarter of the way...i dont understand how this happend as it has never happend before but i know its not normal for the battery to drain that much with no useage at all.....has this happend to anyone else? What may be the reason for this.
Any time I get more than an hour from home my battery drains at 8-10% per hour even with no use. This is compared to 2-3% an hour with moderate use while not roaming. Anyone know why this is... or more importantly, how to stop it?
For the last couple days, I haven't been able to get more than around 4 hours from a full charge. The battery usage tool lists "Media" as the major culprit. I'm also getting frequent notifications of high CPU utilization from the task manager tool, though nothing interesting shows up in the task manager application list. (Maybe the "Media" service doesn't get shown there?) I recently upgraded to 2.3.6, but things seemed fine for the first few days, so I don't know if this is related.
I think I might have caused the issue when I removed a few mp3 music folders from my SD card using the Astro File manager. (For some reason the stock file manager would hang on trying to remove them, even though they weren't in use.) That seems to be roughly when the battery drain issues started. Also, I currently can't open the "Music" or "Gallery" applications - they just hang and eventually I get the force close option. I've rebooted multiple times, but this doesn't go away.
My z3 (NTTDOCOMO)is brand new and working fine but after couple of uses i realize after i charge at night and unplug , in the morning battery is around 78%-80% only things battery gone is for idle and screen(**bleep**). Also yes i already have all saving modes on Since day one and i don't keep data, wifi, nfc or anything on if i don't use them.
Also im missing the download manager app the app that show what you downloaded . Its uninstallable also its running inside Since on apps it isn't disabled. My friends have z3s and they all have it on apps except me ... why?
After suffering from insane battery drain in the last few weeks, following update from jbm 4.3.2 to 5.1, suddenly it stopped!I honestly didn't do *anything* - didn't change my use pattern / touch any settings / reboot / close bg apps / move to different physical location/networks / etc.It just "magically" stopped draining my battery yesterday morning, following the usual nightly charge. Time since last full charge currently shows 22:00 Hrs standby, 1:30 usage, and battery at 74% ! For comparison, it used to to completely drain the battery after about 10 hours of standby, following full nightly charge. I am not complaining, but this gross inconsistency is all too strange, especially coming from Apple. How can I be sure the insane battery drain doesn't return?
I've been noticing my battery draining pretty fast. I've had the phone just over a month and days when I'm at work all day, maybe do some surfing on my lunch or breaks, but nothing to excessive and my battery is down to like 35% when I get home. Before I was going under Settings->Battery and I noticed "Screen" was the number one offender for draining my battery. Which makes sense, it's a bright display and powering it takes a lot of juice. I don't know if it's coincidence or not, however, it's when I started noticing it after installing ICS. Now "Android OS" has replaced it at the top, by a LOT. Here is a list of my top five
I have battery drain with the update to ios 5.1.1. I just take the cell of the lock screen and do nothing, and in seconds (300 seconds) i see going from 24% to 9%.
So after I got the new update, the battery continues to drain even after I plug it in to charge. It's VERY annoying. This never once happened before the update.
Since a couple of weeks ago my battery started to drain very-very fast. It used to last all day long, now it's over before lunch. I checked the Battery Replacement Program and my battery serial is not included.Â
I also ran all the recommendations in URL... but it is still the same. My only guess is that some updated app is taking away the battery but don't have a clue of which one.Â
After I update to V22 it seems that the battery it drain much quickly and another problem is that sometimes if i close the phone and then start again sometimes it's starts, appear nokia logo and then it close ,I push again the power button and then it starts (sometimes I must try 2-3 times until it starts).
I got to say that before it doesn't happened and before update to V22 I hard reset my phone including my mass memory and memory card sow the phone was like new.
I have a problem with my Xperia Ray after the ICS update, now the phone drains a huge amount of battery when its just in standby mode. create a downgrade tool that lets you downgrade to GB again.
I using Xoom with Honeycomb, never needed charge daytime the device is only 22h around usually put to charger but never empty battery. Now the battery is already low from a10h to 16h, capacity is 30%.
my battery life on my s6 has been draining fast I'm not even getting 3 hours of SoT time not really sure why. I've done what the battery sticky thread has said to do but still no improvement. Screen is on 25% most of the time, this is with just randomly checking stuff at times no games or anything like that.
Since the latest firmware update ive noticed my phone battery isnt lasting that long at all. was fully charged when i went to bed, 8 hrs later without use its a 1/4 down. now through the day at work using it everynow n again for text message im down to 1/4 left.
The battery of my xperia mini pro got depleted during an update attempt, and since then it won't turn on, charge, nor be recognized by my computer through the USB cable connection. Hence the PC companion won't recognize it as well. It doesn't vibrate or turn any lights on, just gets a little bit hotter when connected for a long period of time.
My battery has been horrible since the update. Today has been the worst... The phone app has drained 32% of my battery. I haven't made a call all day.I already wiped the cache partition, which did nothing. It seems factory resets aren't solving the issues either.
Is anyone else experiencing the life being sucked out of their battery after the recent version 5.1.1 iphone software update? Last update to 5.0 did the same thing, but there was a patch released a few weeks afterwards. Any info on when a patch for this most recent version update will be released? Thanks!!
I updated my iPhone 2 days ago and am now noticing a significant battery drain. Where I could go all day and use my phone without battery concerns now my phone is almost completely drained and I'm not using it. Is this a glitch in the new ios?
