When viewing email on my 4s and sliding my finger to the right to get a delete button, sometimes i get 'Archive' instead. Why is that? How do i just get the 'Delete' button and where do the archived items go?

Anyone with Gmail of iPhone - Since I have updated to IOS4, when I swipe to delete an email on my phone, I get a red button which says "archive" instead of "delete." After pressing the button, the email disappears from my inbox, doesn't show up in the trash and doesn't go to any of my other folders. Anyone else experiencing this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedBefore the update to iOS 5.1 when I "deleted" emails in the native mail app the emails would be "archived" in my gmail account. Now, when I delete the emails on the native mail app, the emails are sent to the trash. I cannot find a toggle in the mail settings to restore the archive feature (if it exists).

I have Gmail set up through Exchange and when I swipe messages in the Inbox they give the option to Delete. I know that in at least one of the 4.0 betas it offered to Archive. Do I have to use the Gmail setup to get this feature instead of using Exchange? I use Exchange so I can get push mail.

That topic probably didn't make much sense, so let me try to explain. I have an @carrier.blackberry.net set up as the primary email on my Tour. The oldest email I have on my device is from December 12th. I kept it on my device a reference as I knew I would have to refer back to it. Anyways the email string is quite long, and I need to select "more" in order to view the whole message. When I choose that option I get an error message saying "Couldn't retrieve more", and then a red X appears beside that email in the message list. Is this normal? Does the message purge itself off of RIM's email server after a certain period of time? I guess that would make sense, but I've never noticed it until now. Does anyone have any insight?
I just want to ask where the messages are saved once you move them to the Archive folder? Is there any way to transfer messages saved in Archive folder to other folders or to the Inbox or to your SIM?
Also, I installed the Nokia PC Suite v7.1.51.0 and when I checked the Archive messages folder, I can't seem to open the messages, thus I can't export them to my PC as well.
Do you have an idea how to archive sms messages from BB 9800 please?

I just added back my gmail mail account on the Torch. I am pretty sure that I used to have "archive" as an option in the menu, and also when I archived on the dektop, the mail would disappear in the gmail mail list, now it does not.I added the mail account through setup following the gmail account option. I use a Curve 8310 as my work BB (through an enterprise server) and recently acquired a Bold 9700 for my personal email accounts. I used the "Switch Device" option on my BB Desktop Manager, to trasfer contacts from my work BB to the 9700. All this was a breeze. Unfortunately what this also did was transfer my work email folders (all archive folders) on to the 9700. So in the email application on the 9700, if I select "View Folder" from the menu key, I see a whole bunch of archive folders. I have no use for these folders on the 9700 but cannot find a way to delete them.Is there a way that I can delete all these redundant email archive folders from the 9700?

Since it is an official track, we know the exact distance. It should be 11,4 km (7.13 miles).My phone told me I ran 12,07 km (7,54 miles). I recently downloaded the iphoto app to my iPhone 4s. I am hoping to clear up some space on my iphone and I deleted some pics from what I thought was the camera roll within iphoto. I noticed later that while attempting to change my wallpaper, I noticed that pics I thought I deleted were still on the phone as evidenced by their availability to be used as wallpaper. I checked that I had selected cameral roll and not photostream, where it would make sense the photos would still be there. When I left settings I noticed that I have iphoto and the phots app on my iphone. Do I need both? And if i want to delete photos, do I need to delete photos from the cameral roll within iphoto AND the photos app??
