Anyone with Gmail of iPhone - Since I have updated to IOS4, when I swipe to delete an email on my phone, I get a red button which says "archive" instead of "delete." After pressing the button, the email disappears from my inbox, doesn't show up in the trash and doesn't go to any of my other folders. Anyone else experiencing this?
View 20 RepliesBefore the update to iOS 5.1 when I "deleted" emails in the native mail app the emails would be "archived" in my gmail account. Now, when I delete the emails on the native mail app, the emails are sent to the trash. I cannot find a toggle in the mail settings to restore the archive feature (if it exists).

I have Gmail set up through Exchange and when I swipe messages in the Inbox they give the option to Delete. I know that in at least one of the 4.0 betas it offered to Archive. Do I have to use the Gmail setup to get this feature instead of using Exchange? I use Exchange so I can get push mail.

But when i am in my google inbox, and i swipe the email header to delete the email, it says archive. On my work exchange it says delete. Why? Does anyone else have this? Can't really says its a problem just an observation

I am pretty sure that I used to have "archive" as an option in the menu, and also when I archived on the dektop, the mail would disappear in the gmail mail list, now it does not.I added the mail account through setup following the gmail account option. The only difference from before is that I no longer sync contacts/calendar.what I can do to make Archive work again?

Would I be better off doing a backup of my iOS4, restoring my iPhone to iPhone OS 3 and then going back to the official iOS4 or do you think we will be able to straight from the GM to the official version of iOS 4. I'm able to delete emails on the device, and have them delete in gMailI am not able to:-Delete items in gMail and have them auto-delete on the device.I have set up "E-mail reconciliation" on the device.. and it all should be working.Blackberry KB18426 talks about the "limitations" of the enhanced gMail connector but doesn't specifically mention deletions.Again, I cannot delete FROM gMail and have it show up (deleted / reconciled) on the device.
I am aware that there have been issues raised previously and particularly one thread regarding the time delay between deleting emails on the server which remain on the BB.
My problem is an inability to delete emails on the BB. This problem only affects the Gmail email linked to my BB, not the other email accounts. Prior to linking the Gmail account to the BB, I spent time archiving messages from the Gmail account. This was 10 days ago.
So today I ring my carrier (Orange) for advice. They tell me that there are over 3500 messages in the inbox on the Gmail server and that is what is causing my problem. Whilst speaking to them, I was able to look at the server and confirm that there are only a couple of hundred opened messages on the server as far as I am concerned exactly as I expected.
I do have messages in other folders but the sum total is not per Orange's advice. Its worth noting that there are many many more messages on the respective servers for the other accounts for which no problem exists.
How do you delete the gmail contact list off blackberry? It simply would not allow. Even after deleting the whole email. wtf. Don't any <Innappropriate content removed> here say sync a blank contact list because in the contact list, the gmail account will still be active and will download again!

And then then to the main menu options, email reconciliation, and then had delete set to handheld and mailbox. Turned it on, gave handheld authority. Next, I have both Messages and the Gmail plug in on the desktop of my Curve 8530, and messages including sms and fb and emails all delete fine in Messages. But once I go to the Gmail plug in, same emails as in Messages but these ones don't delete.

When I receive an email via gmail, I swipe down to see who it is from, if it is garbage I hit the "delete" shortcut (without opening the actual email or gmail app). I cannot get the message to delete. On my S4 I hit "delete" and the message turns in to a bar that says "deleting" and then disappears. With the edge, the "deleting" bar pops up, says it has been delete and the message and message notification do absolutely nothing. It is driving me up the wall.

When I ran email set up with my gmail account i didn't notice that i checked the contacts box and it deleted all 300 of the contacts I had changed over and left only 20 or so (who i imagine are from my gmail account). I deleted the gmail account from my phone, is there a way to delete the gmail list from my contact list? I go to options and it's the only contact list in my phone and it doesn't give me an option to delete. I even tried re-adding the gmail account to my phone and unchecking the contact list button--to no avail.

I'm a recent returnee to the Blackberry world, and I use a Gmail address as my primary address. I've noticed something, and this issue has been discussed in other posts, but not rectified to my satisfaction. If I delete an email on my BB, it does not delete on my Gmail account on a desktop or laptop. This can be incredibly frustrating. I tried using the Gmail mobile BB app, but it doesn't display HTML email, and my BB is used mostly for personal not for business. Maintaining an orderly email account is proving extremely difficult. I've had the DELETE ON: MAILBOX AND HANDHELD set both ways, and i've had the sync option on the MANAGE EMAIL ACCOUNTS submenu checked and unchecked, and it doesn't work any way i can set it.
It's a BB Bold 9700 on T-Mobile in the US.
New private 9300 and updated to OS6. Using Gmail and 3 emails received today won't delete. Not saved. Tried reboot and battery out.
