View 5 RepliesI am loving my 6P, but I almost drop it all the time trying to reach across the screen and hit the back button while holding the phone one handed.
I think this wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem if I could move the back button to the far right position (this is where I had it on my G3 and it was soo much more comfortable to use).
Are there any root/non-root/modifications I can use to rearrange the buttons?
I have the bootloader unlocked and would happily root if it would enable the ability to move the buttons
I know Xposed add-ons will add this functionality eventually, but that could be at least a few weeks/months away.
I have used a 3 dot navbar menu to access settings quickly on my previous phone. Is there a way to enable it on our phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAre there any mods that allow it? There were a few that don't work with MM so I am looking for an alternative.Would be nice if Google defaulted to that instead of the solid black bar. I can do it from within my music player app. It just fills the screen more and makes it look classier in my opinion.I'd even go for an almost transparent navbar as well.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhat's the most reliable, trustworthy, not awkward way to hide the soft keys on an app by app basis without making anything laggy or weird? I used to have it on cyanogenmod on previous phones but with the nexus I'd rather stay on stock ROM
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's weird. I'm not talking about DND. Seems as though every time I put ringer on vibrate it reverts back to sound after a while. Same with the media volume. I don't get it?!?!?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with DPI change, I used ADB to change the DPI using a simple adb shell wm density 460 && adb reboot, all good, only issue is a few things are.. weird.. For instance the "top apps" icon, little blue thinggy in the playstore is awkwardly big, it's larger then the font, but I didn't use the phone stock so I don't know if that's just how marshmallow is or if that's a dpi problem. I also noticed when loading The Sims FreePlay, the EA boot logo it extremely over scanned, the letters EA barely fit on the screen, the eBay app, the user display picture is cut off and only shows the bottom right corner on an icon that's huge and again over sized, as well as snapchat sending all of my snaps with extremely small font, yet on my screen before sending they look just fine.
So after looking into this further, the build.prop was never changed, it still says dpi 560, but I know for system files I need to mount /system in order to write to it without root. So I booted to recovery as that allows me write access to system, mounted system, says mounted /system at the bottom of the log, open adb, run adb devices, nothing comes up, it's not found, reboot phone, run adb devices, works fine. What's the deal? I can't get the 6p to work from recovery when mounting /system, it says it's mounted but on the computer end nothing is happening.
I also want to keep this phone as stock as possible, kind of a purist douche bag like that so I don't want to run TWRP, or at least I'm not committed to this DPI change being this important that I want a custom recovery.why I can't mount /system in the stock recovery? or rather, why I can mount it but why it's not working?
I'm currently on Franco Kernel but want to change to ElementalX kernel.
I've read that you can't just install the new kernel over the old kernel is that true?
Will I need to do wipe my device in order to install?
Is it possible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBest rooting method? I don't need to change the ROM, but the precious root method doesnt seem to have survived a reboot. (I used CFAutoroot). Is it necessary to change recovery maybe that's why I had issue?

I'm trying to make changes to the Android/obb folder but it just fails. I tried three different root explorer and nothing seems to work. It has rw rw r permissions. Is it because of systemless root ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust as the title says, I tried messing with the dpi, went from 400 to 480, all of them cause chrome to go into tablet mode with the tiny tabs/buttons at the top of the screen. I'm using the PureNexus rom.
Gmail app doesn't allow me to click some embedded links and some links are just plain text and not highlighted/underlined in blue making them clickable.
I am thinking of keeping my phone stock given (Android Pay, Security Updates, Work requirements for email/messages). Is there any way to update the hosts file without unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP? I just want to get rid of the ads as they are soo annoying for non-donate/IAP/Pro-version apps.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI followed the instructions on this archived reddit post with my nexus 6p. "How to change the trigger word for google now" (no direct link because I am too new.) I cannot seem to get it working.
I have tried systematically switching on and off options in AutoVoice, e.g., "run in foreground" and "alternative method", and substituting other apps in place of "VoiceSearchActivity" in Tasker, e.g., "DspHotwordVoiceSearchActivity", but no luck. The hardware and up-to-date Google Now app in my nexus 6p should be compatible with this method.
Ive been trying to change it but the save button is grayed out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith the news that Google will be releasing monthly OTA updates, I am wondering if we can create a method to apply OTA updates on rooted/modified devices (e.g. modify the update.zip itself to bypass whatever checks it performs)?
I run stock, but with root, xposed, and many system applications removed. Returning to 100% stock each month, updating, then re-modifying is a tedious process that I am not looking forward to. How the OTA updates work? Is it even possible to modify the update.zip to remove the check for a stock /system?
One thing that I miss from CyanogenMod is the ability to add things to the quick settings menu. Is there an app available that will allow you to modify the quick settings menu on stock Android? My phone is rooted so but otherwise it's stock. I don't miss the instability of CyanogenMod, just that one feature, so I don't want to install a custom ROM, I just want to add a couple of things to the quick settings menu.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm running Froyo on the DEFY. The issue is that the phone freezes while charging. The screen and the softkeys are inactive whereas the power button still functions correctly. It automatically opens/touches whatever is at the middle of the screen. I tried charging with a blackberry charger, and faced the same problem. But when I tried my brother's Samsung charger it worked just fine. And these were at different power outlets. So is it an issue with the charging unit?

I would like to know is there any possibility to change the keys that lock opens. Is there even theoretical possibility to change those keys? Clearly left softkey - right softkey combination is not a good option for me
I have recieved today a nokia 5800 mobile, read the detailed instructions, and want to know if i can change the selection of keys to different one's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning my phone locked up and then restarted itself multiple times. It took a few tires to turn back on before it was fully able to. Now that its on, there are no soft keys or notification bar.
Also the screen will not turn on for more than a second or two and the wallpaper has gone away. When I am able to select something I get stuck in that app and can't get out of it without turning my phone off.
Only update that I got recently was the Hangouts one. Outside of a factory wipe, not sure what to do at this point.
