After the kitkat 4.4.2 AT&T update, I've been having an issue where the icon for Data Manager will show up very briefly in my notification bar and/or notification windows if I have it open. It goes away too quick for me to see what its doing, but I do recognize the icon. See pic for exact icon.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI set up my phone yesterday and within a short period of time my free 500mb monthly data was gone and then my credit was going down being charged for any more data usage. I would like to figure this out soon or I'll be charged £1 per day for any data I use or use unknowingly.
I would like to restrict background data but when I select 'Restrict background data', within seconds I get a notification saying
"Background data restricted. Touch to remove restriction" ...
And an exclamation mark icon remains at the top left of my screen. Is this normal? Is there a way to clear the notification and the exclamation mark while also keeping 'Restrict background data' on? The only way I can clear the notification and get rid of the exclamation mark at the top of my screen is by tapping on the notification but then background data is no longer restricted. I cannot swipe the notification away and the clear all is not there either.
how to disable this notification which pops up every few minutes I use the phone..Its very irritating. It is titled 'Choose your connection' and the option is :"search for wlan".. I have tried all the setting changes but this thing never stops...

Previously the stock app + Light Manager worked fine. However, Now that I installed Textra there is no LED flashing. I've tried it with and without LED enabled in Textra. Are this apps just not compatible with each other?

I loved it on my S3 and when I got my S6 I immediately installed it and set it up for apps like Messages, Gmail, etc. the issue is it is sporadic at best where it will sometimes show the LED notification when a message comes through, but not always.

It now runs on android version 4.0.4 The graphics seem to have got an adrenalin boost... :) I wanted to get some more clarity on the following:as the task manager app been done away with? In the earlier version (2.3.6) there used to be an app called task manager. Here you could opt to close applications automatically once you move away from them. I presume it was to ensure optimisation of battery usage. In the new version the only way to accomplish the same seems to bring up the list of running apps - by long pressing the home key - and then swiping off the app - which you dont want running in the background - from the screen. Wouldnt the automatic closure of apps be a better option? Is there any way to get back the automatic closure feature in the current version?
In the previous version one could personalise the notification ring tone for the arrival of mails in the corporate mail inbox. This feature seems absent in the current version. I wanted to know if it still can be done? A distinct ring tone for mail arrivals is a good nice-to-have feature. Thirdly, i observed that the battery consumption seems to have increased post the ICS install. Is it just me or have others also noticed the same?
The Data manager in settings says i have used 1.6Gb in 4 days.however the Virgin Mobile (my carrier) account website says i have used 160 Mb which one is correct?I have a limit of 1.3Gb per month.if my phone is telling the truth, at .2c per Kb excess, i will owe virgin mobile $60.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince 2/23, I have had massive data usage at random times. 1GB here and there, sometimes in the middle of the night.My Data Sense shows that the "Restore data" app has used 8.17 GB in the last two days. All of my other apps are using negligible amounts of data.What is the "Restore data" app, and how do I tell it to stop using so much data?
One additional bit of info: 2/23 was also the date that the Microsoft Health app updated. I use a MS Band. It seems like there may have been some type of update pending on the band. When I called Verizon's tech support, they said that the pending update might have something to do with the massive data usage. We completed the update to the Band, and they said to give it another day to see if the data usage continues. What this "Restore data" app is, it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the Band.
My girlfriend and I both have Bberry torch (9800). I have updated her Bberry with the Desktop Manager a couple of days ago and for some reason, the update took a lot more time than usual (more than the whole afternoon). I know it was frozen, but I didn't want to loose any software info and have problems with a half-updated device. But, at the end of day, I had no other options, and I had to reboot the update again. Luckily, I had done my back up prior to this.
And as expected, after the successful update, I had lost all my personal data due to the failure of the first update attempt. Therefore, I uploaded the back up in the device, and all personal data came back (lucky me).However, the information in the password manager application is all gone.
Installed faster application manager. But I don't see any icon for it in list of programs.

But the icon is not available.I have tried to remove and re-add using Desktop Manager with no success. This appears to be a known issue: the problem is you are missing one module. If you look in Options / Advanced Options / Applications / BlackBerry Maps, you should see four:net_rim_bb_lbsnet_rim_bb_lbs_apinet_rim_bb_lbs_ribbonnet_rim_bb_lbs_resource_en I am missing the ribbon module. Been unable to download from the BB Website I cannot do a show all on the home screen as that option does not exist.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI received the 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OTA update for my Droid Razr on Tuesday morning July 3, 2012. The install was uneventful. One feature of the previous operating system I use frequently is File Manager. I noticed that after the OTA update to ICS that the feature to "Move" does not work, or at least doesn't allow me to move files from Internal Storage to the SD Card. I searched the Forums and didn't find any discussions about File Manager not working the same in ICS as it did in Ginger Bread. I read the numerous marketing guides and preparation documents that were published on the Motorola Razr website and didn't read anything about File Manager changing. I downloaded the new Razr Operating Guide for ICS and found no discussion about File Manager being different.
I tried Motorola Live Chat and ended up getting referred to Level 2 Tech Support. I have powered the device off and on numerous times in the last 48 hours. I have also done a Power + Volume Down restart but the Move option is still not working. Specifically, I can select a file from a folder in Internal Phone Storage and select Move. I can press the Back arrow-key but as soon as I am back at the File Manager main screen (so I can select SD Card), the option to Move disappears. If I press SD Card (like I did before with Ginger Bread) the Move button does not reappear at the bottom of the page.
I've been using my Bionic for about 24 hrs now (pretty heavy useage) and only 3 items show up in the "Battery and Data Manager":
Southwest Airlines App (96%)
Cell Standby (2%)
Phone Idle (2%)
That's it. I've used about 30 different apps and I've had WiFi on and off, I've been on LTE and switched to CDMA only for a bit. I've tried out the GPS, used Google Talk, the browser and a bunch of other stuff that I know takes up battery life and I want to know what is killing the battery? Is there a fix for the Battery and Data Manager or somewhere else on the phone I can look for this info?
Can the blackberry desktop manager software remotely wipe out all data and reset it to factory settings? I have bb curve 8530 and I have no information on what software update exactly is the desktop manager.

It shows that I have an unread message in my SMS/MMS, but there is nothing at all. I've marked all previous items as opened and even went so far as to delete all of my previous messages, but no dice. The rest of my notifications are working perfectly fine, appearing and disappearing as they should. Any suggestions or fixes? (And yes, of course I already tried a battery pull, I'm aware that's it is the BB panacea for all problems).
View 12 Replies View RelatedTheres this weird notification icon on the notification bar, and it's an envelope, with what I believe is a blackberry symbol in the center, and a red circle with a 1 on the top right corner I believe. I checked other forums, and I followed their instuctions to go to the main email and click the show all one, but there is none. I also tried clicking "mark all prior unopened" and nothing happened. It is really bugging me. I also checked my bbm, all of the apps, and everything else there is to check, but nothing has happened.

In the notification area (between the Profile icon and serach icon) where it shows the number of text messages, emails, missed calls etc, a symbol has appear that looks like the WiFi symbol but in yellow. View 6 Replies View RelatedThe text message icon normally disappears once I review the notification or read the text message itself. Same for any type of notification. The trouble is that sometimes the notification icon remains. I receive the notification, activate the icon but the icon remains in the notification area. Reactivating it opens a reply screen with the onscreen keboard. Hitting return does not eliminate the notification.
Cannot tell why it happens some times but it appears to only happen with text messsages. The sole solution is to reboot. A nuisance with corrupt icons. Whose problem, the carrier (Rogers) or BB ?
