Having a limited data plan (1GB/month) and in order to save battery, I tried many APN manager/data switcher, but none was that good.Which one do you use that correctly works with D2G and doesn't break connection?
View 1 RepliesI received the 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OTA update for my Droid Razr on Tuesday morning July 3, 2012. The install was uneventful. One feature of the previous operating system I use frequently is File Manager. I noticed that after the OTA update to ICS that the feature to "Move" does not work, or at least doesn't allow me to move files from Internal Storage to the SD Card. I searched the Forums and didn't find any discussions about File Manager not working the same in ICS as it did in Ginger Bread. I read the numerous marketing guides and preparation documents that were published on the Motorola Razr website and didn't read anything about File Manager changing. I downloaded the new Razr Operating Guide for ICS and found no discussion about File Manager being different.
I tried Motorola Live Chat and ended up getting referred to Level 2 Tech Support. I have powered the device off and on numerous times in the last 48 hours. I have also done a Power + Volume Down restart but the Move option is still not working. Specifically, I can select a file from a folder in Internal Phone Storage and select Move. I can press the Back arrow-key but as soon as I am back at the File Manager main screen (so I can select SD Card), the option to Move disappears. If I press SD Card (like I did before with Ginger Bread) the Move button does not reappear at the bottom of the page.
I've been using my Bionic for about 24 hrs now (pretty heavy useage) and only 3 items show up in the "Battery and Data Manager":
Southwest Airlines App (96%)
Cell Standby (2%)
Phone Idle (2%)
That's it. I've used about 30 different apps and I've had WiFi on and off, I've been on LTE and switched to CDMA only for a bit. I've tried out the GPS, used Google Talk, the browser and a bunch of other stuff that I know takes up battery life and I want to know what is killing the battery? Is there a fix for the Battery and Data Manager or somewhere else on the phone I can look for this info?
In the guded tour video for Battery Conservation it show a Battery manager in Settings under "Battery Manager & Data Manager".

Or does this list just mean that it makes sure that idle processess are 'ended' when not in use so that it doesn't bog down RAM? Is there a good instruction manual on the features such as these for the X2, or should I look at something like the Bionic's user's manual since it comes with Gingerbread and should have some verbiage in regards to the task manager?

View 8 Replies View RelatedYesterday I checked my battery usage and Moto cast was at 20%! I did not transfer any files between the PC and the phone and when I do, I still do it by copying and pasting. I did however find some Amazon downloads that were in the phone's internal memory and transfered them to the SD card. When I used "My Files" to move those files, I first used the "move" command which did not seem to do anything. Did this activate Motocast? I eventually moved them by using copy and then paste on the phone. Here's what I got in the battery manager right now. I'm at 90%

Since our IT department doesn't want to combine applications for the ability to have one password to open everything, it is not really their fault, laws prohibit this. So to keep track of the four dozen passwords I habe at work, and two or three dozen personal ones, the spreadshhet has been made. It works OK at work, but when I'm home, it becomes a bit of a pain. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality password managing application. The only two criteria that I have is, it has to be encrypted, and I need to be able to pair it to my DX2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and have the ability to access it on a computer. My initial thought is a good Excel file, that I can jot a couple lines of code to lock it down

View 10 Replies View RelatedIn an effort to "squeeze" as much life out of my battery as possible I decided to take a Moto Rep's video/recommendation and use the stock Task Manager to turn off selected apps 2 minutes after screen off. This strategy worked pretty good on my Pro, but it doesn't do so well on the Razr. After monitoring the stock Task Manager now for a week, it appears that it does not turn off selected apps after 2 minutes of screen off. We all realize the battery demand on the Razr and there is a lot of experimentation going on (that is a good thing) to develop settings (Smart Actions etc) that prolong time between charges. It would be nice if we could have an effective Task Manager (stock and Moto approved) that would be another "tool in the tool box".
View 10 Replies View RelatedI know we are at the point that some of us are giving our reviews of ICS while the rest are waiting for their update to happen at all... but here are a few things missing that i have noticed..first, Task Manager. is it not needed at this point or did the assume we would just download one? i used mine instead of using a task killer ( i know i know that debate is an old one) but i miss having it on there.omeone else mentioned the "in pocket detection" was also gone. I used mine with and without it and never really saw it a difference. mine is in the otterbox holder most of the time, and in my pocket only off work. but its still gone.
the other is the3g only, which has already been discussed and told how to change it anyway. I downloaded the app which is an HTC thunderbolt app that was recomended on the droid news n guide app, but i cant tell you if it works lol.. im hardly ever in a 4g area.while there are a lot of good things in ICS and the fact that it looks so different does give you the "new phone feeling" i wonder why these were taken off.
There is an option in the task manager under its settings to show system apps. When you do it will show that the Android system is running at 25% of the CPU. You can refresh this and it will remain the same.
I'm curious, is that because it is taking a snapshot of what the CPU is doing right at that moment (which would be refreshing the Task Manager list) or is Android really constantly gobbling up 25% of the CPU? Seems high if it's the latter...
How do I open my task manager? To be more clear - I'm trying to close apps that are running one at a time, but I can't find what is running ...

Every 45 minutes Task Manager interrupts and states that the app has been running for 45 minutes and is consuming battery resources. At this point Task Manager asks me if I want to continue running the app. I can't find any setting to disable this. Netflix is not on the "end" list for Task Manager.

I've gotten a number of high cpu usge notifications in the notification bar, but when I open up the task manager to see what is running amuck, the total displayed cpu usage looks small. how to track down the culprit? No new apps, but lots of updates recently, and I really don't want to start randomly deleting apps till I find the one causing this (I've got about 100 apps installed, of which I use probably 10-15 on a daily basis) As a side note my extended battery lost 50% of it's power while plugged into a computer via usb in 3 hours... That has never happened, the computer usb charger has always been more than enough to stop any power drain (while streaming pandora, and connected to bluetooth headphones).

I am having a problem where the stock music player stops playing after approximately 30 minutes. Several internet searches suggest setting the music player to never auto end in the task manager on the Droid X. Only problem is I cannot find where the "pre-installed" task manager app is located to check the auto-end list. I have looked though all of apps in the "app tray" and also explored the settings under settings-application management.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst time I've gotten this alert.Not rooted.Was in dock all night.Pulled it out of dock and within moments I got an alert I've not seen before, in the status bar.I went to the task manager to see what it was all about and the OS was using 54% of the CPU.Moments later it jumped to 80+ percent.It kept moving between 50-ish and 80+ from moment to moment.I ended up shutting the phone off and restarting it.After doing that, no more alerts, but the first time I checked the OS following the restart, it was at 27%.Basically, it's now using a minimum of 16% and sometimes more than 25%, but never more than roughly 30%.IS THAT NORMAL?oh, and as a test, I put it back in the dock for a moment or two, took it out, and no "high CPU usage" alerts.

When opening the switcher, there is an app called: AlternateApp. The icon has a question mark in in and opening this app freezes the app switcher. I can't find out what this app is referring to, maybe a recently updated app through the app world or there might be some other issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing the stock File Manager app I can see audio files on my Maxx HD's internal storage and also on the SD card. I happen to be looking at ringtone files. If I tap on the filename to play the ringtone, Amazon Cloudplayer pops up and shows all the music files on my SD card. No ringtones can be found. If I back out of Amazon Cloudplayer and use the file manager to try finding and playing ANY audio file on EITHER my SD card or the internal storage I get sent to Amazon Cloudplayer. I then have to use the back button to get back to the file manager icon in the App drawer. Same thing happens if I try to play audio files on my SD card. Amazon Cloud Player pops up. I don't want to use Amazon Cloud Player to play an audio file in SD storage.
If I connect my phone to my PC and navigate to the ringtones on internal storage and click on them they play as per usual (Windows media player). If I use my PC to play audio files on the SD card they play as usual.Why does my phone default to Amazon Cloud Player when I tap on an audio file in File Manager? What is the stock audio file player on the Maxx HD? Why can't I browse to an audio file with the file manager and tap on it and have it play? How do I fix this?
Data is eating though my pageplus prepaid. Is there any way to toggle data when I do/do not need it? I've googled, and so far, only method I found was switching the data from 3g to 1x, which isn't very helpful since all that does is consume the same amount of data at a slower rate.

The only way to get it back is to turn airplane mode on then off.Also had my first reboot since before the update. She is disabled and she said it was too complicated for her so she re-activated her old flip phone and put this one in a drawer.After I purchased this phone I went straight to the Verizon store for activation. It had a clean ESN and activation went smoothly in terms of phone features; however, no data features. They worked on it for two hours and then gave up declaring the phone to be defective. I will be traveling to Canada where I will have a voice and txt mssg plan, but I don't want to use data. When I de-select Background Data, it warns me that some apps still may use data!As far as I can tell, de-selecting Data Enabled and Background data should prevent any data transmission, but still allow for voice and txt. Am I understanding that correctly?
