Motorola Droid :: How To Kill All Data

Aug 1, 2011

Settings>Battery and Data Manager>Data Delivery, then there is Background Data, Data Roaming, and Data enabled. I will be traveling to Canada where I will have a voice and txt mssg plan, but I don't want to use data. When I de-select Background Data, it warns me that some apps still may use data!As far as I can tell, de-selecting Data Enabled and Background data should prevent any data transmission, but still allow for voice and txt. Am I understanding that correctly?

Motorola Photon 4G :: Kill Music App Background Process?

Dec 1, 2011

Whenever I take a look at my battery usage on my Photon, I always see Music and Media rather high in the list. In fact when I checked just now Media was at 12% and Music was at 11%, 3rd and 4th in the list. (The phone's only been on for about 90 minutes.) Since both of these apps suck, I have other apps that I use for photos (QuickPic) and music (MixZing) and don't bother using the built in apps. It's bad enough that I can't remove these apps, but the fact that they're adding extra drain on the battery adds injury to insult. When I inspect the running apps, for Music I found AmgSyncService running which appears to be part of MotoBlur. Searching the web the only thing I was able to find was a similar question posted on the xdaDevelopers forum. I suspect there is a similar process running for photos as well, but it hasn't shown up in my list of running processes.

Other than manually killing the AmgSyncService process everytime I start the phone, is there any way to disable this process to prevent it from starting up?

Motorola Atrix 4G :: List Of Default Apps Which Can Be Safely Added To Auto-kill?

Jul 13, 2011

I have read help files about the default auto-kill option in the task manager. But it does't explicitley specify which apps can be added to the auto-kill list. I would like to way to know which of the stock apps can be added to the list. I have noticed that my battery usage for idle phone in the range of 30-35% (which I believe a bit high). May be the default apps I already have added to auto-kill are required by motoblur and hence started automatically, thus causing a loop.I have installed only 3 apps uptill now so i am sure they arn't causing this problem

Motorola Droid :: No Data Features On It?

Aug 29, 2011

Last week I bought a mint condition DROID 1. It has zero scratches and, according to the seller, was used for three days when she purchased it new, two years ago. She is disabled and she said it was too complicated for her so she re-activated her old flip phone and put this one in a drawer. After I purchased this phone I went straight to the Verizon store for activation. It had a clean ESN and activation went smoothly in terms of phone features; however, no data features. They worked on it for two hours and then gave up declaring the phone to be defective. Now I wonder, do I just throw it out?

The Verizon salesman replaced the new sd card with my old one from Droid 1. I reinstalled the apps and all but 2 are working fine. My "Bookworm" and my "Quick List Free" don't access the information already on the sd card. Astro shows it there but apps say nothing there. I have about 350 books and info on them in the Bookworm. How do I get the app to see the info. I don't want to put them in again individually.

Motorola Droid :: Ok To Delete MotoNav Data?

Dec 5, 2011

I'm running out of memory on my Moto Milestone/Droid. From what I can tell, the app that is taking up the most internal space is MotoNav at 17.73 MB (= 17.49 MB of data and 248 KB of app). My trial period has already expired though it appears I can still use it now (I'm assuming with its existing maps).I've read it's hard to remove MotoNav from the phone because it's a system app. That's fine but what happens if I just want to delete all the data from this app? Is that ok? Are there any long term ramifications to do that? What happens if say, I chose to buy an activation key for it at a later date? Will I be able to redownload all that data (the maps, etc) again?

This is no data symbol at all.Regular signal is fine, and I can send texts.I've tried all of the obvious fixes (short of factory reset), including starting in safe mode:no good

Motorola Droid Razr :: No Date Taken Data On Photos

So, when using most camera apps, the EXIF data (specifically Date Taken) is not filled in for any picture taken with this phone. Is there a way to enable this field? I have tried at least 4 different apps and was hoping the ICS upgrade would do it, but no love. What is up with this major failure?

With all the digital media in my life, I have automated a lot of processes to organize and make things consistent, so when I find something that makes the job harder, I really loathe it.

When the screen turned on there was the Android icon with what looked like a green "electron cloud" type symbol animated in its open "belly". After a few minutes with that on the display, tried to shut the phone off, it wouldn't power down so I did the volume down and power button. When it came back, the phone was cleared asking me to select a language.

almost since day one, i have not really had the pleasure of enjoying what 4g signal is really like. i'm in chicago, and when ever i'm either downloading music or streaming video (netflix, Internet) or downloading anything that requires data, the phone completely loses the 4g connection and takes at times up to 5 minutes for the signal to come back. if i keep the phone on 3g only it does not happen, but that defeats the whole purpose of having a 4g device. the "data saver" in settings is off.

Well for the past 24 hours and counting I cannot access any data unless i have a 4g signal, which doesnt stay on for more than 5 min before that drops. I spent another hour with tech support with no fix so they finally offered a Rezound which i painfully opted for. It is really a dissapointment that with all the months of delay that they could not get this beautiful phone to work for many of us. I hope the Rezound does not have issues like this phone does. Also hope Moto can get back on top next year and I may come back...
