Motorola Droid :: No Data Features On It?
Aug 29, 2011
Last week I bought a mint condition DROID 1. It has zero scratches and, according to the seller, was used for three days when she purchased it new, two years ago. She is disabled and she said it was too complicated for her so she re-activated her old flip phone and put this one in a drawer. After I purchased this phone I went straight to the Verizon store for activation. It had a clean ESN and activation went smoothly in terms of phone features; however, no data features. They worked on it for two hours and then gave up declaring the phone to be defective. Now I wonder, do I just throw it out?

Does Motorola intentionally make their new products inferior at release?I've been using a Droid and a Droid 2 for about 18 months.I shoot a lot of pictures outdoors, some macro, lots of nature and concerts.I also shoot indoors under challenging conditions (concert lighting.) They have both prtovided a passable point-and-shoot camera. The Droid 3 camera is dissapointing in that several important features have vanished:
-There is auto white balance, only a manual and difficult-to-use control.
-The user can no longer set ISO
-The user can no longer set EV
-Focus is iffy under a variety of conditions
-Photos have a bluish cast under most conditions, with and without flash
So instead of getting pretty good shots with a convenient camera, I'm getting washed-out, bluish garbage.(Issues with the video vs. Droid 2 also, in a separate post.)I want to know if Motorola intends to make the experience of this camera catch up with the spec soon, or if i should return my phone while I can still get something else from Verizon.

Did anyone else notice that the RAZR HD didn't get any of the new jelly bean camera features? Like swiping over to see your pics then being able to delete pics by swiping up or down. I was looking forward to those features but they were left out with new update.

I cannot access certain features (many of which made me buy the phone in the first place). I keep getting a message saying that <The data service is not operational>, nothing tells me how I can make the data service operational and how to get more from my Blackberry and any user guide which describes the Blackberry.

Data is eating though my pageplus prepaid. Is there any way to toggle data when I do/do not need it? I've googled, and so far, only method I found was switching the data from 3g to 1x, which isn't very helpful since all that does is consume the same amount of data at a slower rate.

Anyone else having this problem? Using the internet and the data just stops esponding. The only way to get it back is to turn airplane mode on then off. Also had my first reboot since before the update. I was using maps and the phone froze up tight while using the search function inside the app.

Settings>Battery and Data Manager>Data Delivery, then there is Background Data, Data Roaming, and Data enabled. I will be traveling to Canada where I will have a voice and txt mssg plan, but I don't want to use data. When I de-select Background Data, it warns me that some apps still may use data!As far as I can tell, de-selecting Data Enabled and Background data should prevent any data transmission, but still allow for voice and txt. Am I understanding that correctly?

It seems like this phone can use a lot of data, sometimes even while on wifi. an example of an app that does this is TuneIn Radio.

I thought one of the last small patches Motorola did on the Turbo allowed data to be sent while on a phone call.

I live in an area covered by Verizon Wireless and a smaller local Cell company, so I have to enable data roaming to get emails in certain places. I've enabled it several times and it will not stay on, it shuts off if I lose service for any ammount of time, or if I restart the phone. Is there any way to keep it permanently enabled?

The Verizon salesman replaced the new sd card with my old one from Droid 1. I reinstalled the apps and all but 2 are working fine. My "Bookworm" and my "Quick List Free" don't access the information already on the sd card. Astro shows it there but apps say nothing there. I have about 350 books and info on them in the Bookworm. How do I get the app to see the info. I don't want to put them in again individually.

I'm running out of memory on my Moto Milestone/Droid. From what I can tell, the app that is taking up the most internal space is MotoNav at 17.73 MB (= 17.49 MB of data and 248 KB of app). My trial period has already expired though it appears I can still use it now (I'm assuming with its existing maps).I've read it's hard to remove MotoNav from the phone because it's a system app. That's fine but what happens if I just want to delete all the data from this app? Is that ok? Are there any long term ramifications to do that? What happens if say, I chose to buy an activation key for it at a later date? Will I be able to redownload all that data (the maps, etc) again?

Since 1am (PDT) this morning I've had no data on my Bionic. By that I mean there's been no data symbol -- no 3G symbol at all. I'm not talking about the "white, not blue 3G/4G" issue that some people have reported (and which I've never had). This is no data symbol at all.Regular signal is fine, and I can send texts.I've tried all of the obvious fixes (short of factory reset), including starting in safe mode:no good

So i am on my 4th bionic it seems that my signal is always weak. The signal bar in batter use stats is always yellow and grey rarely green. My battery dies faster after update 50% only 4 hours off charger. The thing getting to the most is when i pull phone out of pocket and unlock it the data never works i tried everything rebooting or airplane mode do not fix it. I usually have to pull battery. I did factory reset twice since update. Does this mean i have get #5 ordered for me?

So, when using most camera apps, the EXIF data (specifically Date Taken) is not filled in for any picture taken with this phone. Is there a way to enable this field? I have tried at least 4 different apps and was hoping the ICS upgrade would do it, but no love. What is up with this major failure?
With all the digital media in my life, I have automated a lot of processes to organize and make things consistent, so when I find something that makes the job harder, I really loathe it.

For some reason, my phone just did a factory reset. I wasn't using it, just had it in my pocket with headset plugged in. Pulled out the headset from the jack and was going to make a call. When the screen turned on there was the Android icon with what looked like a green "electron cloud" type symbol animated in its open "belly". After a few minutes with that on the display, tried to shut the phone off, it wouldn't power down so I did the volume down and power button. When it came back, the phone was cleared asking me to select a language.

Just picked up my RAZR. Only issue so far is the WiFi. The phone will connect to my home network but any attempt to use the browser gives a connection error. Same issue with any application that requires a data connection. My laptop connects with no issue and my Droid X connects with no problem.

almost since day one, i have not really had the pleasure of enjoying what 4g signal is really like. i'm in chicago, and when ever i'm either downloading music or streaming video (netflix, Internet) or downloading anything that requires data, the phone completely loses the 4g connection and takes at times up to 5 minutes for the signal to come back. if i keep the phone on 3g only it does not happen, but that defeats the whole purpose of having a 4g device. the "data saver" in settings is off.

Well for the past 24 hours and counting I cannot access any data unless i have a 4g signal, which doesnt stay on for more than 5 min before that drops. I spent another hour with tech support with no fix so they finally offered a Rezound which i painfully opted for. It is really a dissapointment that with all the months of delay that they could not get this beautiful phone to work for many of us. I hope the Rezound does not have issues like this phone does. Also hope Moto can get back on top next year and I may come back...

I tried a google search but really couldn't find an answer. I started using the Swiftkey beta software, it allows personalization based on usage. So now I'm wondering if there is a security issue using this type of software? Can passwords be gathered using this software and transmitted back along with the web page and all my account information?
