I want to transfer my contacts list onto my computer and cannot enable the sync for contacts. The type is greyed out and does not change when I hover the mouse over, or click on it.

I plugged it into the PC and hey presto the phone was full of CR4P!I now have a list of contacts about 500 long, 400 of whom I have no idea who they are!People who have sent me emails offers or bought things off.Anyone know of a way I can go through this list (on the PC?) and say Yes I want, No I don't want. OR create a list only of people I want on the sync list.I thought smartphones were to make life easier. I have to trawl through God knows how many useless unknown contacts before I can find mates.I know I can have faves, but I don't want to carry 400 dead names, it ruins the line of my clothes carrying all that extra weight.

Re-installing the application may fix the problem." Which i did Re-installed it and still saying the same thing.

I tried various things at the time, suggested by other users, none of which seemed to have worked. I forgot about it until now and I need to be able to use it to install Android 2.3.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got the Desire Z the other day (after switching from the HTC Dream) and for some reason the Google Calendar and Android Calendar won't sync.My contacts and gmail sync with no problem, but the calendar just shows the spinning (circular arrows) wheel for a few minutes which then stops spinning and stays static.If I open the calendar app it is completely blank and if I go into the settings to try to select a calendar the program freezes up and gives me a pop-up window reading Calendars - Update now... (with another spinning wheel).I have tried soft & hard resets along with clearing the cache and data from the calendar and calendar storage, but I keep having the same problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI plan to back up all my contacts with google sync but I just notice that I use 3 emails to back up my contacts. the main problem is 1 email that I use is company's email which i have resigned so.. it's about time, they deactivate my email & i can lose all my contacts.
1. that email always show "not available" on wireless sync on the contact list properties. while my Gmail email has option yes/no wireless sync.
2. also it doesn't show on the SYNC contact list on default services
3. how I can merge all my backup emails, to be just 1 email for backup data?
I carried out the gingerbread FOTA update yesturday, and now I cannot sync with my exchange server. It worked fine before the upgrade. I even deleted the account and tried to re-configure with the same server and domain details, but all i get is a message saying it failed to connect to the server

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently running OS v5.0.0.975 (Bundle 1600, Platform 4.2.0.424) on the Tour 9630. When trying to utilize the Ford SYNC in my new vehicle, the Tour will not download the address book to enable voice call via the phonebook. On talking to the SYNC tech support they indicated I needed the firmware upgraded to version 4.7.130 as a minimum. How can i get the firmware updated? I checked with Verizon support and they only know how to do the standard software upgrades, not firmware.

It has worked fine for ages, but today I noticed that new emails were no longer arriving on my phone. I removed the account from my phone, hoping to recreate it but I cannot recreate the account. I put the details in, as above, then when I get to the name account screen and hit Finish, I get 'Failed to create the account. Please try again later.'This is what used to happen before the update - there was some incompatibility between the HTC mail app and Hotmail over ActiveSync, but it has been working fine on my phone for ages, until today.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Desire Z has duplicated every contact in my phone x5 - the only problem is that when I try to delete the duplicates it deletes every copy of that contact. I had to manually delete all the contacts and re-enter them 1 by 1. i turned my phone off last night and when I turned it on again this morning it had duplicated each contact by 3! View 2 Replies View RelatedI have only just got my first HTC phone. I think its quite good so far, however I am have trouble trying to sync with my PC. I have downloaded and installed the latest sync software from the HTC website, then plugged in the phone and selected the HTC sync option. The PC recognises that the phone is plugged in and starts the software start up screen and displays the message 'updating htc library' in the bottom right hand corner. This is as far as I can get and the software eventually times out and closes!!! I have tried on another PC and the same error occurrs!

When they enabled 720p recording video became choppy but the sound was kinda alright now after the current update all my videos are coming out like one of those kung fu movies, voice and lips are not in sync and the sound is crap.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA small item I'd like to see changed is the way that the HTC People app displays the details of contacts. When a contact name is clicked on it brings up their details and unfortunately the way it displays the postal address just doesn't work. In a single line it displays a preview of their address and when clicked on only offers the option of viewing in google maps (not the actual address text). It is possible to view the entire postal address if editing - not a smart move and could lead to accidental deletion. Maybe there is another way of viewing postal addresses but I certainly can't figure it out.
It would be great if the full postal address was displayed in the contact details without having to edit or open google maps.
