HTC Desire :: Personalise The Text And Alarm Tones?
Jun 11, 2010I've recently got an HTC Desire and although sceptical about the Android platorm I have been very impressed with how intuitive it is and managed to work out where most things were pretty quickly.
I am struggling to personalise the SMS/Email tones to indicate a new message. Also, I can't find how to personalise the alarm clock tone. is there an app available to allow me to personalise these tones?

Jul 28, 2010About 6 weeks ago I went out, dropped my phone and the next day I noticed the ringer wasn't working. I pulled the battery after I had no idea what else to do and the ringtones/notifications worked again. However about every 5 or 6 days the same thing happens and I have to pull the battery. I also noticed that when I check the ringtone options whenever the ringtones fail the BB says "invalid ringtone, please choose anther ringtone"could it be that the loudspeaker is loose? It's not busted because it works most of the time and a battery pull seems to solve the issue.Just now I had to pull the battery again to get the ringtones sounding.

Oct 7, 2011Am I the only person who is unable to figure out how to play system notification tones over a bluetooth ear piece? My old Moto Q did. What I'm talking about is to have meeting warning tones and e-mail / text message arrival tones play thru the earpiece. For that matter - why can't we redirect ALL sounds that go to the phone's speaker go to bluetooth???
I have missed more meetings and not responded fast enough to a number of e-mails because of this.
Anybody have a way to make this work? I haven't found anything in the market place that works.
HTC Desire :: It Cannot Find Sync On PC
Aug 4, 2011I downloaded HTC Sync a few months ago, and I kept getting the error message on my phone that it could not find it on my computer. I tried various things at the time, suggested by other users, none of which seemed to have worked. I forgot about it until now and I need to be able to use it to install Android 2.3.

I had to rebuild my media library to get rid of some "ghost " image thumbnails in the gallery. I deleted all data associated with Media Storage and rebooted.
This totally hosed up my Ring/Notification tones. Why should a rebuild of the media library make a difference?

Oct 29, 2010Was transfering photo from old phone to HTC Desire HD via Bluetooth and lost connection. I now have permanent bluetooth notification icon in notification bar say "null" wants to transfer file no bytes. Accept or decline. Selecting either does nothing. I assume the HTC no longer knows where "null" device is. Is there anyway to clear this notification without a factory reset.

Is there a way for this notification to only say "new message" instead of saying who it is from and what the message says before the message is even opened from the home screen?

HTC Desire S :: Setting Up Pop3 Email Facility?
Nov 21, 2011I have just changed from a BlackBerry to the htc Desire S & am having all sorts of problems trying to persuade it to deal with my pop3 emails. I've religiously followed the instructions & the Incoming settings are accepted but when I put in the Outgoing details it always comes up with "Your outgoing server does not support authentication. Please verify your outgoing server settings". I am not a computer/phone expert but managed to set up my BlackBerry without any problem. In this case, after several failures I copied the settings as in my Outlook Internet email settings. No luck.I contacted the technical dept of Zen (the ISP) they were very knowledgeable & helpful but, after 90 minutes effort finally gave up.
All instructions on the htc site just repeat the user manual instructions which, in this case, does not work. I've emailed htc but have received no reply. I contacted the service provider - Vodafone. They advised that it is difficult to operate pop3 emails with the standard mobile phone Server port at 25 & suggested that I if I wish to use my business email address (rather that getting a new gmail one) then I would be best advised to return the phone & get a new BlackBerry. I find it hard to believe that it is not possible to receive & send normal emails on a modern smartphone & am hoping that someone may be able to guide my through an installation/troubleshooting process that will work.
