View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 has never been able to transfer files over USB to Win7 computers. The computers do not recognize the presence of the Nexus (no response and nothing in Device Manager). The Nexus shows it's charging, but that's it. I've tried different cables and computers. In addition, NFC and Beam also do not work but regular WiFi works fine for internet use. Bluetooth works but is too slow to be usable for data transfer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.
I have successfully flashed both LiquidSmooth ROM (ROM crashed..) and now I went back to CM 12.1... the problem is, when i try to install apk files on my Nexus the installer app says "app not installed" .... I have tried reflashing with a full wipe including dalvik and system format... n
Now I am about to give it up and leave my phone blank as a paper and have only free applications installed from Google Play... I have been already told that i might have flashed the wrong GAPPS but i doubt thats the problem since i flashed NANO GAPPS 5.1.1.
I rarely plug my phone to my laptop, however I wanted to transfer a large amount of pictures today and got stuck.
When I plug my phone in the PC, the phone is recognized as a "media device" but the folder is fully empty, and nothing can be done.
Looking at previous forum posts, I have tried to check if the MTP was enabled, however I could not find the option (when I go to settings, storage and USB, all I can see is information about apps, there is no menu i can access to reach the MTP.
What I could do in order to manage to download my pictures to my PC?
My Nexus 5 is connected to my pc but files are not being displayed, what should I do?. file size is zero

Is, clicking on the wavv file in the email opens it up in the app, vs having to download the file exit the email app, go into a wav app and then find the file? Have tried several without luck so far.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn Win 7 when I connect my phone to the computer some files and folders don't show up even though they are indeed there. Is this a compatibility or driver issue?
I have rooted and installed the custom recovery everything is working fine, but this is just a little weird.
My phone can transfer files at normal speeds in bootloader mode. It can even transfer files fine when booting up to kit kat. the issue is even though it does all I mentioned, it won't charge (or charges too slow to matter) via USB connected a PC or USB to any AC adapters. I've tried many working cables and AC adapters...
View 4 Replies View RelatedApparently I lack sufficient brainpower to do something that, in my small feeble mind, I assumed would be easy: connect my Nexus 5 to a Windows 7 PC via Bluetooth so that I can access the storage files on my Nexus. Very specific, very simple, yet it does not work. I have searched everywhere, and I do not need a tutorial on how to pair them. I have them paired. That pairing does not do anything, it has no function.
On my Nexus 5, it says it is paired to my PC. On my PC, I have a fugly *** Nokia-esque icon that has "Nexus 5" under icon listed under Bluetooth Devices. I do not understand what else I need to do?
P.S. How do I find "Bluetooth drivers"? Windows update has no clue WTF to do, and like I said, I am retarded and lack basic reading comprehension since I cannot find any information that is relevant through searching online.
So I just downloaded some Pokemon ringtones and they're saved as MP3s. I do not want them to show up in the play music app. I moved then to the ringtones folder with the Hangouts sounds but that didn't remove them from play music.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my nexus 5 when I transfer file from my laptop to my device over the MTP (with my USB cable)
For example : i try to transfer an application to my device (I put it in Download folder) but when I go to my nexus 5 (Storage ==> Downloads) I can't see the application (like if it is hidden) and the same thing to the rest (document, music, video...) but when I transfer photos over the PTP, there is no problem.
I try to put something in a different folder in the storage of my nexus 5 but i have the same problem (it doesn't appear). I also try to creat another folder and transfer to it but in this case I see what I transfer but I can't click on it or select it.
I am a new android user, so up until now I have been using itunes as my main source for organizing and playing music files. I don't want to use Google Play Music. What is the next best alternative to putting music on my phone so I can listen on the go?

Is there a way to access the files on my computer without going through the phone.
I copied the contents of my phone to my laptop, then did a factory reset on my device. I copied all the data back to my phone after, but when I open the downsloads folder there are no files in there. On the phone itself it shows 229MB of data there, but I cannot see it on my phone. I can open it on my laptop tho. how I can view the files on my phone again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedA friend emailed me a couple of pdfs by attachment. I downloaded them and saved them, and opened them with Quickoffice. However, I cannot find them. They are not in the downloads folder, and when I open Quickoffice they do not appear in the Recent Files. The only way to find them is to go back to the original email. Where would they be stored? (One reason that I'd like to know is so that I can delete them: at the moment the only way seems to be to delete the email, which I don't want to do).

View 1 Replies View RelatedRooted, kitkat 4.4.4. I like to backup my entire nexus 5 to a large external sdcard using ES file explorer and stickmount pro. After an initial copy of all files it would be nice if I could copy "only changed or new files".
The 32gb sdcard is formatted fat32 and although I can copy files from the phone to it my backup failed when I tried to copy large files. I get an error message saying that there isn't enough space which is nonsense because the external sdcard is almost empty! Not sure why.
I've recently discovered that every pic I send via MMS has the same filename. The receiver has to rename the file every time they get a picture from my nexus 5.
Is there a setting to correct this?
I am having an issue where I can't send any texts. I can receive them. Seems to have happened right after the 5.0.1 update, but I can't confirm that. I am not rooted.

When my Nexus 6's screen is turned off (either by timeout or by locking the phone) the audio will start to stutter and distort. Is there a fix for this? Nexus 6, T-Mobile, running Android 5.1.1 (no root, stock OS).
I have 16 GBs of videos ( so many small video files). How can I download it to my laptop. I have Nexus 5 and there is no SD card.
I used AirDroid, but the file download gets interrupted, so I do not get the entire data. What options are available?
I just downloaded the files and the Recovery system came up. To install the update, I need to manually choose the files, but I don't know where to find the on my phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to completely purge all leftovers files from when I rooted my Nexus 5.
I tried something with another device I own - the Nexus 7 2012 - and that was using TWRP and remove all the files from "/". Of course, it would fail to remove everything (permissions?) and cause the device to freeze, but forcing reboot would allow to enter bootloader and flash everything fresh and lock the bootloader (I used Nexus Root Toolkit). It has not caused any obvious problems.
I was wondering what the best way would be to completely start fresh on my Nexus 5 while getting rid of all leftover files.
I have questions about animated gif file(s) which is send by Android Gmail as attachment My device is non rooted N5 with kitkat (4.4.4); gmail is 5.0.1 (1642443).
1) Unable to open gif attachment as animated file in gmail, I usually use Quickpic to open gif file in my device and in cloud storage because Gallary dose not work. But in gmail i do not have to option to choose the app, the default image viewer in gmail ( may be gallery ?) dose not display the animated effect. So i have to save the file to my phone or to Gdrive to see the animation. Is there a way to view the animation directly in the email without save the file??
.2)Could i send image files in Android gmail as 'In Line' Similar to the 'insert photo' function in desktop gmail instead of 'Attachment', how?
I have a complicated situation with deleted files (photos and videos) recovery,
Phone : Nexus 5
Android: M (6.0) BN: (MRA58N)
Root/unlock: Unrooted and Unlocked
Some one has deleted all the files in the camera folder in the gallery, i want to restore these deleted files. After hours of digging the internet, i found a lot of applications that doesn't work (almost all of it either require root or require USB Mass storage), and as you know we are only able to connect to the PC using MTP protocol. Rooting the device requires unlocking it which will cause the whole phone to be wiped.
I have two questions:
1) Is there any (REAL) way to recover the deleted files (Images and videos) with the current circumstances (Unrooted, Unlocked, MTP Connection) ?
2) If the answer of question 1 is NO, if i unlocked (and for sure wiped) the phone then rooted it, can i still have the ability to recover these files, i mean how badly the wipping process will affect the internal phone storage?
