Jul 9, 2015I was playing on my Nexus 5 and it got very heated but I didn't turn it off or give it a rest until approx 10 minutes later. I had to go somewhere so I didn't check it after I locked it and put it in my bag. When I did check it around 15 minutes later, I couldn't turn on the phone so I assumed the battery had ran out of juice. I got home 5 hours later and plugged in the charger, immediately turning it on. However, when I turned it on, I saw that it still had 38% so I did some stuff on it when the app I was using said I had no connection.
I reconnected to my WiFi but it still said I had no connection. I unplugged it and turned off the phone, but then I couldn't turn it on again. So I charged it again, and attempted to turn it on while still charging but all it would give me was the Google logo (which is the first thing that shows up when you turn on a Nexus 5) for about 2 seconds and then it would turn off again, even while plugged in. Now when it's charging, it keeps going to the Google logo for 2 seconds, shows a black screen for 3 seconds, goes back to the Google logo and keeps repeating this cycle.

Oct 11, 2015For the past few weeks, my phone has been struggling to stay connected to my home WiFi. I feel like it might be a problem with the WiFi itself, since my phone remains connected to other WiFi sources. The network shows up on my phone, but just shows its status as "Saved" and won't connect.
I have a Nexus 6, Verizon, on 5.1.1, build LMY48M. It is not rooted, and I don't have any battery saver apps or firewall apps on my phone.
My WiFi at home is Comcast WiFi, a 2.4 GHz signal, with G and N supported protocols, with WPAWPA2-TKIP/AES security. The firewall security is set to low. I have a modem/router combination (the one you lease from Comcast).
I have tried most things described on the internet; forgetting the network on my phone and reconnecting, resetting the wireless modem, updating the modem, switching WiFi on and off, the same with airplane mode, changing my wireless on the phone from automatic to 2.4Ghz and 5GHz, and nothing has worked. If I turn the phone off and then back on, it will reconnect to the WiFi, but will only stay connected for a few hours, at which point it won't connect.
I've had to turn my cellular data off completely because my phone is devouring my mobile data.

Oct 20, 2015I rarely plug my phone to my laptop, however I wanted to transfer a large amount of pictures today and got stuck.
When I plug my phone in the PC, the phone is recognized as a "media device" but the folder is fully empty, and nothing can be done.
Looking at previous forum posts, I have tried to check if the MTP was enabled, however I could not find the option (when I go to settings, storage and USB, all I can see is information about apps, there is no menu i can access to reach the MTP.
What I could do in order to manage to download my pictures to my PC?

Jan 2, 2015I have several bluetooth speakers. I'll pair a speaker (UE boom in this case), connect the phone to the speaker and start to play some music. The audio comes out of the phone speakers. I had the phone "forget" the bluetooth speaker and then re-paired, no dice, audio still comes through the phone speakers. The same thing happens with my car sometimes. I've tried everything.

For example : i try to transfer an application to my device (I put it in Download folder) but when I go to my nexus 5 (Storage ==> Downloads) I can't see the application (like if it is hidden) and the same thing to the rest (document, music, video...) but when I transfer photos over the PTP, there is no problem.
I try to put something in a different folder in the storage of my nexus 5 but i have the same problem (it doesn't appear). I also try to creat another folder and transfer to it but in this case I see what I transfer but I can't click on it or select it.

But when I connect the phone to the pc all it shows is the icon of the Nexus 5 but does not show any folders nor files! Any hidden setting somewhere that I have to enable or is there something else I need to do? BTW, I have my phone unlocked (not rooted) when I connected the phone so it is unlocked while connected to the PC via the USB cable.

Feb 25, 2014This is bizarre, everything was fine until this morning, not sure what's going on but the phone still comes up in Windows 8 file explorer, however as soon as I click the Internal Storage directory, file explorer stalls as the green progress bar slowly crawls along and eventually times out.
The phone says it's in MTP mode.
I looked at the driver supporting this phone for Windows 8 and it says it's from 2006. I found a link for installing thhe Google USB driver but there is no instructions for installing it in Windows 8, the phone not connecting to the computer in MTP mode which isn't an issue for me.
Rebooted the phone and tried again, no luck.

Nov 18, 2015I have just bought a Netgear EX6200 Extender and a Netgear AC785 SIM card router with a 4G SIM inserted. The initial setup was perfect and I was able to use my Nexus 5 to access the internet via the EX6200 from all over the house. But after two days, for no apparent reason, my Nexus 5 (Marshmallow) suddenly could not get past "Obtaining IP address" when trying to connect to the EX6200 although my PC was able to connect properly with no problem (and I was also able to connect the phone successfully direct to the AC785 router).
To try and solve the problem I reset both the AC785 and the EX6200 to their factory defaults and went through the same setup procedure as before. Now, although I can connect to the internet from my PC and my wife's Samsung tablet (Android) my phone still will not connect. After a bit of a pause whilst "Obtaining IP address", it shows as "Connected but no internet access"

Jun 25, 2014I own an iPhone 3GS, and have recently upgraded it to iOS 6.1.6. I was able to connect to Wi-Fi using a Netgear Cable Modem with WiFi capability. But the internet service provider upgraded this equipment, replacing it with an ARRIS Touchstone Data Gateway DG1670 cable modem with Wi-Fi capability. Unfortunately, I have discovered that I'm unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi, while using my iPhone 3GS, running iOS 6.1.6. I am completely able to connect my MacMini, a smart-TV, and an iPhone 5 to this ARRIS device with Wi-Fi. Â
I have contacted my internet service provider and they tell me that the problem is with my iPhone 3GS, not with their equipment. We very meticulously went through all the troubleshooting steps, but to no avail. I have also read all the Apple Knowledge Base articles here about configuring an iPhone 3GS properly, and I have also followed Apple Knowledge Base articles concerning optimal configuration of an internet modem with Wi-Fi capability. Â
I like my iPhone 3GS, it works well, but now I cannot sync it to iCloud, and now I must have Wi-Fi turned off to make it usable. I also understand that iOS 6.1.6 will be the last upgrade for the iPhone 3GS. If this is true, then I'm sadly disappointed with Apple's inability to keep up with technology.

Jan 27, 2014I bought a Nexus 5 about 15 days back. I am very happy with the phone - except for the fact that I face difficulty connecting to my Home Network in particular. My Windows Laptop, My wife's iPhone and iPAD connect to the same WIFI almost instantaneously. However, my Nexus 5 phone keeps saying "Obtaining IP Address" endlessly. At times, it says "Weak Signal - Cannot Reconnect" and gives up. However, all other mobile devices show that the signal strength is good. the phone does connect to the WiFi after sometime by itself.
I do not have this problem when I am at my office. It connects immediately to the WiFi in my office.
The Router setting at home is as follows :

The apps work fine and will play through the Nexus 5 speakers or headphones when no Bluetooth speaker is connected. However, when I connect a Bluetooth speaker, the apps do not work - they don't get past the title screen. The Bluetooth speaker works OK with locally stored files e.g. music saved to the device.

The Nexus shows it's charging, but that's it. I've tried different cables and computers. In addition, NFC and Beam also do not work but regular WiFi works fine for internet use. Bluetooth works but is too slow to be usable for data transfer.

Mar 27, 2014I have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.
