Google Nexus 5 :: Browse Files From Computer Using Bluetooth?
Apr 8, 2014
Apparently I lack sufficient brainpower to do something that, in my small feeble mind, I assumed would be easy: connect my Nexus 5 to a Windows 7 PC via Bluetooth so that I can access the storage files on my Nexus. Very specific, very simple, yet it does not work. I have searched everywhere, and I do not need a tutorial on how to pair them. I have them paired. That pairing does not do anything, it has no function.
On my Nexus 5, it says it is paired to my PC. On my PC, I have a fugly *** Nokia-esque icon that has "Nexus 5" under icon listed under Bluetooth Devices. I do not understand what else I need to do?
P.S. How do I find "Bluetooth drivers"? Windows update has no clue WTF to do, and like I said, I am retarded and lack basic reading comprehension since I cannot find any information that is relevant through searching online.
On Win 7 when I connect my phone to the computer some files and folders don't show up even though they are indeed there. Is this a compatibility or driver issue?
I have rooted and installed the custom recovery everything is working fine, but this is just a little weird.
Cracked my screen on my Nexus 5 today (squeezed it in a door). The touchscreen won't work and you can't see anything except green and red stripes on the screen. Is there any possibility to reach the files from my computer even if i can't unlock the phone with my graphical password? It runs Android 5.1 and I haven't rooted it or anything. Very desperate to reach the data on my phone, have photos, videos and a diary from my year in Australia... Should think about back-up next time!
After manually flashing files to upgrade to 6.0.1, I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0. But I am not able to flash supersu from sdcard because when I browse to the folder, it looks empty. Why this is happening?
I have a Motorola Droid X I got when they first came out. I have been unable to send pictures to my computer via Bluetooth for a while. I'm not sure what happened to make this problem occur. Now, when I try to send photos to the computer, after about 1/2 sec, it says "<filename> not sent". When I go to the messages pull-down from the main screen (sorry forgot/don't know the vocabulary if any), the message says:<filename><computer name>
The request can not be handled correctly.I also had some problems where my computer (Windows vicious vista) would tell me it couldn't find drivers for the various Bluetooth function it was trying to establish. I have no idea what the heck that was about, and now it doesn't happen anymore. Of course, that doesn't mean it is happy with the drivers.I tried to update the drivers but it says they are all up to date. When I go to Bluetooth Devices in Control Panel, the Properties for the phone shows services of Audio Source, Headset Audio Gateway, and Object Push (Obex) checked.
Object Push is the service that is used to transfer files to the computer, right?Connecting the phone to the computer still works to transfer files, but if I just have one or two pictures to send to the computer, it is much easier to use Bluetooth. Can anyone give me some help on tracking this problem down? I don't think it is the Bluetooth adapter because other Bluetooth functions work correctly.
I'm trying to backup my phone to flash a stock LP (to try to fix some problems with the battery) but I'm having this strange problem. When I connect my phone to the pc I can see most of the folders, but not all of them, and a lot of files doesn't seem to be there. On the phone, with Explorer, I can see everything so I don't understand what could be the issue.
My Nexus 5 has never been able to transfer files over USB to Win7 computers. The computers do not recognize the presence of the Nexus (no response and nothing in Device Manager). The Nexus shows it's charging, but that's it. I've tried different cables and computers. In addition, NFC and Beam also do not work but regular WiFi works fine for internet use. Bluetooth works but is too slow to be usable for data transfer.
I have a issue with my N5. I am trying since a week back to install an APK file to my new N5. Ive looked in forums and youtube and dont seem to be able to find a solution to my problem.
I tried to just download different APK installers to my N5 but as they look for the SD CARD and the N5 dont have any it comes up all empty. after a bit of research i found that ES file explorer could do the trick for me, and when i downloaded it i can now find the file with it, but i can not install it. Ive looked at guides that says with Es file explorer i should be able to just double click the APK file i want to install (it comes up as a .zip file) and it should install it for me, but in my case it only opens up the folder and inside i can only find .xml files, no .apk file that i can click on to install.
i found a program called "Wondershare MobileGo for Android" that should do the trick (in another forum thread) but as im at work and i dont have administrator access i cant install anything and would like to be able to solve this problem with just my phone.
I have successfully flashed both LiquidSmooth ROM (ROM crashed..) and now I went back to CM 12.1... the problem is, when i try to install apk files on my Nexus the installer app says "app not installed" .... I have tried reflashing with a full wipe including dalvik and system format... n
Now I am about to give it up and leave my phone blank as a paper and have only free applications installed from Google Play... I have been already told that i might have flashed the wrong GAPPS but i doubt thats the problem since i flashed NANO GAPPS 5.1.1.
I rarely plug my phone to my laptop, however I wanted to transfer a large amount of pictures today and got stuck.
When I plug my phone in the PC, the phone is recognized as a "media device" but the folder is fully empty, and nothing can be done.
Looking at previous forum posts, I have tried to check if the MTP was enabled, however I could not find the option (when I go to settings, storage and USB, all I can see is information about apps, there is no menu i can access to reach the MTP.
What I could do in order to manage to download my pictures to my PC?
Just curious what app people have installed that will play a wav file within the email app itself. Is, clicking on the wavv file in the email opens it up in the app, vs having to download the file exit the email app, go into a wav app and then find the file? Have tried several without luck so far.
I have downloaded music from google play store onto my nexus 5.however when i try to sync to my computer i cant find the playlist.when i tether my phone to the computer it should sync automatically but doesn't and i cant even find where the music went or how to get it to show up.
So in the process of attempting to fix my nexus 5's issue of saying "cannot mount cache" during a factory reset in recovery mode, it completely stopped turning on. However, when I connect it to the computer, my computer still makes a sound indicating a new device has been connected.
The device will not show anything on the screen at all. I've tried holding power, power+volume down, and power+volume down+volume up multiple times and nothings worked.
My phone can transfer files at normal speeds in bootloader mode. It can even transfer files fine when booting up to kit kat. the issue is even though it does all I mentioned, it won't charge (or charges too slow to matter) via USB connected a PC or USB to any AC adapters. I've tried many working cables and AC adapters...
I have installed super beam to my nexus 5 mobile . Earlier I was using superbeam to send video files but now am facing an issue sending video files since super beam is crashing after clicked send button.
So I just downloaded some Pokemon ringtones and they're saved as MP3s. I do not want them to show up in the play music app. I moved then to the ringtones folder with the Hangouts sounds but that didn't remove them from play music.
I have a problem with my nexus 5 when I transfer file from my laptop to my device over the MTP (with my USB cable)
For example : i try to transfer an application to my device (I put it in Download folder) but when I go to my nexus 5 (Storage ==> Downloads) I can't see the application (like if it is hidden) and the same thing to the rest (document, music, video...) but when I transfer photos over the PTP, there is no problem.
I try to put something in a different folder in the storage of my nexus 5 but i have the same problem (it doesn't appear). I also try to creat another folder and transfer to it but in this case I see what I transfer but I can't click on it or select it.
I am a new android user, so up until now I have been using itunes as my main source for organizing and playing music files. I don't want to use Google Play Music. What is the next best alternative to putting music on my phone so I can listen on the go?
I copied the contents of my phone to my laptop, then did a factory reset on my device. I copied all the data back to my phone after, but when I open the downsloads folder there are no files in there. On the phone itself it shows 229MB of data there, but I cannot see it on my phone. I can open it on my laptop tho. how I can view the files on my phone again?
A friend emailed me a couple of pdfs by attachment. I downloaded them and saved them, and opened them with Quickoffice. However, I cannot find them. They are not in the downloads folder, and when I open Quickoffice they do not appear in the Recent Files. The only way to find them is to go back to the original email. Where would they be stored? (One reason that I'd like to know is so that I can delete them: at the moment the only way seems to be to delete the email, which I don't want to do).
So I think something on my USB port has malfunctioned... it won't show up in the device manager when I plug it in.I have tried the sticky thread on Diagnosing USB Driver and ADB issues in Windows. I have searched the forums and internet and tried lots of driver installs and restart this and that.
Recently this started when I wanted to flash Android 6.0 to my phone. During the install with NRT after each erase and flash it would say Waiting for device, and the only way I would get it to proceed was to plug the USB and plug it back in... Now running Android 6.0 it won`t even recognize my device and won`t pop up the menu to choose your usb connection setting.I have two Nexus 7, one Nexus 7 (2013), and another Nexus 5... and they all work fine and get recognized by the computer.
I can't send files/attachments over 5mb...I run my phones on the Nexus through the main outlook account and are I am using an 'exchange' system/server...
Rooted, kitkat 4.4.4. I like to backup my entire nexus 5 to a large external sdcard using ES file explorer and stickmount pro. After an initial copy of all files it would be nice if I could copy "only changed or new files".
The 32gb sdcard is formatted fat32 and although I can copy files from the phone to it my backup failed when I tried to copy large files. I get an error message saying that there isn't enough space which is nonsense because the external sdcard is almost empty! Not sure why.
I got a second hand Nexus 5 with corrupted WI-FI and bluetooth, If there is a way to fix it. Currently I have updated to 6.0.1. In settings "MAC address WI-FI" is 02: 00: 00: 00: 00: 00.
Rooted Nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4 . Until now I've had Bluetooth turned off to save battery but I now want to use it in my car. However it is grayed out in the phone settings and will not turn on. If I select to turn it on in settings, it switches to a grayed out "on" (see screenshot) and 2 seconds later goes back to off. I've checked my apps such as xprivacy, etc. and cannot find a reason for this.
