Google Nexus 5 :: Rebooting Constantly Every 4 Secs?
Feb 16, 2015
My device was working fine, but suddenly my screen went blank(device turned off without any warning), an then thinking that it must be off I tried switching it back on but in vain. There was no response from the device. After these failed attempts I plugged it into the charging port and since then it is coming to the Google Flash screen(the one before the bubble animation) and then switching back off within a sec. I tried going to the Boot screen but in vain coz I dnt get enough time to select even Power off or any other option. What to do...I went through a few forums but could not decide what to do finally. And i need my Nexus 5 back to proper woorking as soon as possible without any data being erased.
A few days ago my Google Nexus 5 began constantly rebooting for no apparent reason. Most times when the phone rebooted it would not even get past the Goolge logo before rebooting again. Occasionally the phone would go farther at which point it would say that it was optimizing apps. Sometimes it would reboot again right in the middle of this process. I was not connected to WiFi at the time this whole thing began so it should not have been updating in the first place.
On the rare occasions that the phone started up completely I tried running it in Safe Mode, clearing the cache and doing a factory reset in the hopes that the issue is being caused by an app, all to no avail!!!! NOW THE PHONE WON'T EVEN TURN ON!!!!
My son's nexus started rebooting on its own here and there a little less than a month ago. Last week it started boot looping. I would have to turn it off(only worked sometimes by going into fastboot mode). Tried resetting and wiping in recovery with no luck. This problem gets worse when it's plugged up to a computer the phone turns into a reboot machine. I read up it could be the power button and took it apart to find the button works fine (still cleaned out though).
when charger is connected my phone keeps rebooting on Google logo, when I disconnect a charger it has no signs of being alive. now somehow i managed to get into fastboot, but when i try to get into recovery phone reboots again and shows full charged battery. What should I do now? I tried to flash stock and unroot via nexus root toolkit, i get the same.
Bought a Nexus 5 about 6 months ago USED. It has been amazing. I got the latest OTA a week ago or so, not sure if that has anything to do with current issues.
About 2 days ago started randomly restarting. Today, it shut down and has been in continuous loop restarting. I see "Google" and maybe even the boot dots loading, then it is off. Three seconds later, starts again and repeats. Never makes it all the way into Android system. I let it sit for a while and when I pick it up, without touching any buttons, it repeats all of this. I suppose it is probably dead in general, but I don't know.
Never rooted, never messed with, always been stock,....
Had my Nexus 5 for about a month now, and have loved it till this morning, it decided to just shut off (full battery too) and i tried to turn it on and it is now just constantly starting up to the "Google" splash screen then shutting off.
Sometimes it gets to the the 4 color circles then shuts off.
Just now got through to start up and the screen flashed on and off and by the time i got to settings crashed and shut off again. I can't even get it to stop trying to turn on!
(Nexus5) my phone 1 year old rebooting automatically..... not even going to home page..... this is the 1st problem which I am facing in this one year by using nexus5.
Anyway, yesterday I was chatting via whatsapp on my Nexus 5 16gb with CyanogenMod 12.1 and sundely it stars rebooting, i thought that i press the power button but when the Cyanogen logo was loading, it started to reboot again and again. When the cyanogen logo apears it reboot again. I can get into the phone a few times but it reboots again and I cant enter the twp to wipe or reinstall another room. I also tried to flash with ADB but i cant enter the recovery mode because it reboots again.
Ever since Tuesday morning on 10/28 Google Search app has been crashing repeatedly over and over again in the background. I did not think much of it first few times, but then yesterday and today it started becoming more frequent. It seems to be happening almost every hour.
So I started doing some trouble shooting and caught the app running at over 500 MB of RAM!! Then of course it shortly after crashed. I have attached a screen shot of that, in addition to battery stats from overnight when I was sleeping, so everyone can see how often it is occurring as well. I have reported at least 8 of the crashes to the Google report option that comes up.
So far I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, and have tried clearing the cache on the Google Search app. Still has made absolutely no difference. Would like to try to avoid resetting the phone if possible.
In the last 3-4 weeks, I've seen my Nexus 5 rebooting here and there randomly. He's not stock into a boot loop, he works just fine and then 'pop', I can see it rebooting without reasons.
I'm running stock 5.1.1, kernel 3.4.0-gbebb36b, Build number LMY48B. The phone is rooted manually, no automatic trick.
Does randomly reboots means something? Is there a way to see what happens/what happened like an event viewer in Windows?
So I've had lollipop since the Dev preview was released and I had less bugs on the preview than the final release. After side loading lollipop my phone randomly restarts itself and goes into loop. It gets to the point that when I try to get into recovery mode I can't make it to the restart boot loader screen without my phone constantly restarting.
Eventually it stops after a few minutes or up to a few hours. When this cycle occurs and I plug it into the charger the cycle gets even worse. My phone was unusable for over 5 hours yesterday. I've tried restoring it but no luck. What do I do !?

I've had my Nexus 5 phone for 16 months now - generally worked great. Occasionally it dies and wont power up, but tends to be fine once you leave it charged for 10 minutes and give it a go a few times.
However, now, it wont boot up at all. It has a mind of its own of turning on and off every few seconds, and then just staying on the Google logo before switching off again. Very occasionally it gets to the 4 circles but again shut offs after a few seconds.
I've read a few threads that suggest pressing Vol button and power on button. I've tried that and get to the android robot screen, but it switches off like 1 second after, so im unable to select any options.
When I have connected to a charger, it constantly boots up and switches off the google logo after couple of seconds all by itself. But if not connected to a charger, then it remains off unless I press power button or give it a little knock.
Since 5.0.1 my phone has been rebooting randomly, numerous times throughout the day. I just downloaded 5.1 (hoping that it would fix the issue) and it still reboots but now every so often after it reboots, it will say "Android is Starting... Optimizing app # of #.
Recently my nexus 5 has started to reboot itself very frequently. Sometimes, pressing the screen lock button lightly reboots it. Current android version: 5.1.1
My Nexus sometimes randomly crashes and then has problems rebooting. I have factory reset the phone and even reverted fully to stock android. However, the problem persists. I have attached the logcat file pulled up to the crash.
My blackberry bold 9000 keeps rebooting itself constantly and runs down battery within an hour. I have tried taking out battery and sim and also wiping it and it still is doing this?
I have had my BB Curve 9360 for 7 months and for the last month the phone has been experiencing problems with rebooting itself.
The phone reboots itself approximately 5 or 6 times a day which is quite annoying as you have to deal with the irate persons who are continuously met by your voicemail as your phone is off or awaiting secrity info (PIN) without your knowledge.
Basically my G3 reboots itself every so oftern. At first I linked it to google maps as 9/10 times the phone would crash when I tried to use it.
Last night I did a hard reset (hold power button and - volume) and started from scratch installing one app at a time.
It was running fine until I installed spotify then it started again! It got so bad that the phone would restart as soon as I tried to unlock the screen. I uninstalled spotify, but am still having the issue, so it cant be spotify? Unless it has left a corrupt file behind?
Ever since upgrading to the latest software 7.1.0 Bundle 1149, my Bold 9900 is consonantly rebooting. Usually after a phone call, it decides to reboot. So annoying. Its also extremely slow and the battery life is awful. Its only about 6 months old and constant problems.
I just got the new Bold and the darn thing re-boots about 4/5 times an hour. It's an enterprise (work) blackberry so because of security I cant use my computer desktop with it.
I live in Germany, I often roam especially into Austria - crossing the border no issue, phone switches to an Austrian network. 10 days ago I got a replacemnent phone, flew to the US, and the phone started on landing, and constantly reset - no comms possible, apart from a few minutes after 1 day - then that was it until I arrived back in Germany IT WORKED PERFECTLY WHEN I GOT BACK TO GERMANY- I swopped the phone at the weekend, for a brand new one, as I neede to fly to Jordan today, I arrived, same situation as when I arrived in the US - constantly rebooting - after it let me put in the pin and password on landing. I read thru the forUms, and took out the sim and memory card - same reboot (battery was gone in about 1 hour, from full to nothing due to this reboot process I guess).
I upgraded my 9900 but since then, it hasnt stopped rebooting. its been over 3hrs of constant rebooting. I tried removing the battery it kept rebooting. At one stage it went back to the "backing up data" screen and re-backed everything up. Note that I did the upgrade on the device without using the desktop.
My BB Torch 9800 on my AT&T network is constantly not holding any battery charge, it's constantly dying on me even though I constantly have in plugged into a car charger or a wall charger at all times, it also started to reboot itself and then once its complete it reboots itself again and again and again. I've tried leaving the battery out for 15min and then trying to reboot it again, that does nothing. I've gone into the Options section under Device and disables the Compression, that did nothing, I've check the CPU Usage for the day and the week nothing is really eating the power up. I have also held down the menu button and switched off all my apps in there and still no better.
My phone is about 2 months old. My service is through ATT in the US, but I use the phone abroad - currently in Sydney, Australia.Sometime early this morning [still asleep as alarm didn't go off], the phone began rebooting. When it reboots, it fails half way through and starts again. This has been going on for over 10 hours. I have not had time to load any new application onto it, it is in the same state it came. I just receive and send email and text.I have spoken to ATT and the only thing they recommend is a new phone. However, they wont send it to me outside the US, they say it isn't possible [even if I pay for shipping]. I guess they never heard of FedEx or DHL. So much for their international service. I have to coordinate shipping through my office in the US. This is going take me more time than I think I can live without the phone.
I've tried a battery that I know works and the problem persisted. I would like to wipe the phone clean, but since I don't ever get to the main screen, I cant do it using an application. Is there any way to wipe it clean using a combination of keys? I cant do it from my PC either as it doesnt recognize the phone since it is always rebooting.
