Google Nexus 5 :: Constantly Starting Up To Splash Screen Then Shutting Off
Jun 8, 2015
Had my Nexus 5 for about a month now, and have loved it till this morning, it decided to just shut off (full battery too) and i tried to turn it on and it is now just constantly starting up to the "Google" splash screen then shutting off.
Sometimes it gets to the the 4 color circles then shuts off...
On most recent version of screwd with tk gapps and I can't get wallet to load. It hangs up on the splash screen and never moves. Have tried clearing cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing works.
So 2 days ago I received the OTA update for 6.0. Yesterday when my battery was low the device turned off unexpectedly. When I finally had a chance to plug it in the phone went into a BOOT LOOP. After not being able to get into recovery mode because of continued resetting. I looked up several videos and posts from Nexus users with the same issue. I found the solution to be tapping the power button repeatedly till device is fixed. It sounded absurd but it worked and the phone stopped resetting and started to charge as normal. I let the phone charge for about an hour and then proceeded to turn it on.
At that point it was then stuck at the Google logo. So after about 15 minutes of waiting I decided to do a hard reset. When doing so I an encountered an error which I am unfamiliar with. I have a picture of what it tell me but can't seem post it on the forum. IT SAYS:
Supported API: 3 E: failed to mount/cache (Invalid Argument)
--Wiping Data... Formatting Data... E: failed to mount /cache (invalid argument) Formatting /cache... E: failed to mount /cache (invalid argument) E: failed to mount /cache (invalid argument) E: failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)
[code]....
After it did the wipe it got stuck at the new splash screen.
I've followed instructions in from this thread [URL] .... and flashed the supersu from the recovery without reading not to flash. Now I'm stuck at the google splash screen. How to recover from this?
I've had my Nexus 5 since it came out in 2013. Earlier this year I started having an issue in which the phone would just randomly shut off. I would power it back on and it would still have a lot of charge left.
At first, it was sporadic, but then it was gradually doing it more and more frequently (many, many times per day) until it was virtually unusable unless plugged it.
I ordered a new battery and replaced the old one and then the phone worked just fine again... up until a few weeks ago when it began doing it again, and it has been gradually doing it more and more frequently just like last time.
I've only had the new battery for about four months.
I face a problem with my n5 i m on stock android 6 so yesterday suddenly my phone switch off. It took me over 3 h to understand that.when i press the power button to unlock or lock to sleep mode my phone (2 to 3 times ) switching off. I dont consider that a factory reset will be useful because i m running this software over a month without problems.!!!
My device was working fine, but suddenly my screen went blank(device turned off without any warning), an then thinking that it must be off I tried switching it back on but in vain. There was no response from the device. After these failed attempts I plugged it into the charging port and since then it is coming to the Google Flash screen(the one before the bubble animation) and then switching back off within a sec. I tried going to the Boot screen but in vain coz I dnt get enough time to select even Power off or any other option. What to do...I went through a few forums but could not decide what to do finally. And i need my Nexus 5 back to proper woorking as soon as possible without any data being erased.
Bought a Nexus 5 about 6 months ago USED. It has been amazing. I got the latest OTA a week ago or so, not sure if that has anything to do with current issues.
About 2 days ago started randomly restarting. Today, it shut down and has been in continuous loop restarting. I see "Google" and maybe even the boot dots loading, then it is off. Three seconds later, starts again and repeats. Never makes it all the way into Android system. I let it sit for a while and when I pick it up, without touching any buttons, it repeats all of this. I suppose it is probably dead in general, but I don't know.
Never rooted, never messed with, always been stock,....

Just now got through to start up and the screen flashed on and off and by the time i got to settings crashed and shut off again. I can't even get it to stop trying to turn on!
I replaced the cracked LCD. Every time time the screen is awakened the touchscreen seems to randomly choose a different Y-axis starting position. Sometimes it is correct sometimes it is a little off and sometimes way off. Is this a defective replacement or is it an android issue.
Ever since Tuesday morning on 10/28 Google Search app has been crashing repeatedly over and over again in the background. I did not think much of it first few times, but then yesterday and today it started becoming more frequent. It seems to be happening almost every hour.
So I started doing some trouble shooting and caught the app running at over 500 MB of RAM!! Then of course it shortly after crashed. I have attached a screen shot of that, in addition to battery stats from overnight when I was sleeping, so everyone can see how often it is occurring as well. I have reported at least 8 of the crashes to the Google report option that comes up.
So far I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, and have tried clearing the cache on the Google Search app. Still has made absolutely no difference. Would like to try to avoid resetting the phone if possible.
So I've had lollipop since the Dev preview was released and I had less bugs on the preview than the final release. After side loading lollipop my phone randomly restarts itself and goes into loop. It gets to the point that when I try to get into recovery mode I can't make it to the restart boot loader screen without my phone constantly restarting.
Eventually it stops after a few minutes or up to a few hours. When this cycle occurs and I plug it into the charger the cycle gets even worse. My phone was unusable for over 5 hours yesterday. I've tried restoring it but no luck. What do I do !?
A few days ago my Google Nexus 5 began constantly rebooting for no apparent reason. Most times when the phone rebooted it would not even get past the Goolge logo before rebooting again. Occasionally the phone would go farther at which point it would say that it was optimizing apps. Sometimes it would reboot again right in the middle of this process. I was not connected to WiFi at the time this whole thing began so it should not have been updating in the first place.
On the rare occasions that the phone started up completely I tried running it in Safe Mode, clearing the cache and doing a factory reset in the hopes that the issue is being caused by an app, all to no avail!!!! NOW THE PHONE WON'T EVEN TURN ON!!!!
I've had my Nexus 5 phone for 16 months now - generally worked great. Occasionally it dies and wont power up, but tends to be fine once you leave it charged for 10 minutes and give it a go a few times.
However, now, it wont boot up at all. It has a mind of its own of turning on and off every few seconds, and then just staying on the Google logo before switching off again. Very occasionally it gets to the 4 circles but again shut offs after a few seconds.
I've read a few threads that suggest pressing Vol button and power on button. I've tried that and get to the android robot screen, but it switches off like 1 second after, so im unable to select any options.
When I have connected to a charger, it constantly boots up and switches off the google logo after couple of seconds all by itself. But if not connected to a charger, then it remains off unless I press power button or give it a little knock.
My son's nexus started rebooting on its own here and there a little less than a month ago. Last week it started boot looping. I would have to turn it off(only worked sometimes by going into fastboot mode). Tried resetting and wiping in recovery with no luck. This problem gets worse when it's plugged up to a computer the phone turns into a reboot machine. I read up it could be the power button and took it apart to find the button works fine (still cleaned out though).
but I can access no functions, cannot even shut it off without battery pull, and while the desktop manager recognizes the phone model and PIN, it never finishes initializing. I am desperate for the data contained within the contact records in the address book (addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, grandchildren's favorite colors, etc), and the seriously dependent data in the Password Keeper app that came on the phone.
Because I presumed this unlocked Verizon phone (which I've been running on AT&T for 2+ years) to be, for most intents and purposes, dead to me, I've replaced it with a Torch 9860, and hope to to perform the phone-to-phone function, but I can't move forward from here. I am not technically knowledgeable - really, technologically challenged
My Blakberry Storm 9500 hang/stuck after reboot.. It didn't get pass the vodafone splash screen.. I did battery pulled many time, but still ending hanged/stuck at the vodafone splash screen.
I was sitting down with my nexus on my leg with about 40% battery left when it suddenly turned off and then flicked to the google startup page before going blank. After attempting to turn it on again (to no avail), I resorted to plugging it in, which resulted in the phone looping on the google page then vibrating before repeating. I tried to get it into the bootloader menu, but it appeared and then reverted to the google page after the phone vibrated.
I've tried looking up solutions, but the only plausible situation for me seems to be returning it so the warranty can take over. The only hitch with that being that the bootloader is unlocked (not rooted, just the bootloader). I really am stuck, and do not know what to do
Well I have the newest Tour firmware and everything was working fine until this morning when I did a battery pull. It goes through the boot up process but then it gets stuck at the splash screen. I removed my memory card to see if that was the issue but it wasn't. Do you think downgrading the firmware will fix this issue?
I just received a SIM-free Lumia 820 delivered from Germany.
When first switched on, it displays what I assume is a Vodaphone splash screen of some sort. This appears before the NOKIA logo (which in turn appears before the blue Windows Phone 8 splash screen).
My current phone (Lumia 800) came from Italy and the about page shows that the original carrier was WIND, but in everyday use, there is no visible consequence.
On the 820, there seems to be some kind of carrier branding embedded deep into the phone. On the 'Extras + info' page of settings, in the additional info block, it says Mobile Operator Name VOD-DE, which is presumably Vodaphone Germany.
I tried re-setting the phone completely, but this behaviour remains. Can I do anything to get rid of this pre-boot splash screen? It's not a really big deal, but this kind of stuff irritates me beyond reason.
I am inordinately happy about this, but also annoyed that I didn't know about it earlier. It was in the Google Settings app rather than the phone's settings, so I missed it! This was the one feature I envied on the Moto X and I had it all this time!
The Ovi Store on my 5530 XM Games Edition just gets stuck on the splash screen and the store itself doesn't even load. How can I fix this? Also I was browsing the Nokia Store and I notice that there is a Nokia Music Headset HS-45, AD 54.....I was wondering if this fully works with the 5530 XM Games Edition because the main reason I want to get this is for music control....And also, does this headset have a mic in it?
I used to have account but haven't posted in a while and can't find the info (and won't recognize my email). I will try to give as many details as possible. I have a BB 9700 with OS6 on Rogers Canada. I wanted to add a new email, so I went into the email options and it told me I needed to install an update. I said yes. It asked me four or five times to verify something (I forget exactly what it was), but it wasn't something I thought I should be worried about. It then said it completed and asked to reboot. So, I said yes.
It rebooted and the splash screen came up. The bar loaded all of the way and then it stalled for a while. Afterwards, I got an error (I believe it was App Error, but I didn't write it down because I thought it would happen again). Now, I tried to reboot in safe mode and my phone has hung on the splash screen, loaded to 100%, for over an hour. Should I wait longer? What should be the next step? I would rather keep my data (last backup was over two weeks ago.)
Some reason a monster energy wallpaper from zedge somehow turned into a splash screen that won't go back to stock even after Odin flash stock multiple times .It was only a wallpaper at that point now after Samsung boot then the monster energy logo then the t-mobile boot screen.Everything works fine just can't get rid of it even after multiple Odin flash to stock and factory resets
I switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
So one thing I do miss from my Note 4 was the ability to clip screenshots. You could just take out the S Pen and it would take a screenshot and you could crop it and draw on it, etc.
Then you could easily share it and it didn't save it to your device.
Back when I had the LG G2 it had similar functionality, but it was via a built in app that was easily accessed from the Notification tray.
Is there a Play Store app that would offer similar functionality. Ideally I could swipe down on the screen, and access an app. The app then would allow me to crop or draw on the pic and send it.
When I look for them in the Play Store they seem to be more focused on screen recording or something.
