Like I'll be using it and then it will just shut off and then when I boot it back up, it says the battery is very low or it shuts off during bootup! It would shut off at like 80% or other random percents! It has been doing this for a month, but it's gotten much worse! I can't even have it unplugged for 10 or 15 minutes without it doing this! Also the 5.1 update didn't even work.

The screen is approaching too hot to touch temperature! I drilled a big long slit in my case to let it breathe better. And I have a tempered glass screen protector.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIt will randomly crash, normally when I'm switching in between apps or opening apps. It shuts down without any notification, screen just goes blank. About 50% of the time I have to boot it up connected to the USB power cord or it will just crash again in the same fashion once the OS is loaded. Battery charge is at the same percent pre and post crash. I've downgraded to Kitkat as well as upgraded to the newest Lollipop 5.1, factory resets, and clearing cache. Currently on 5.1 and rooted. Same problem. I bought a battery from a questionable eBay seller and after installing am having the same problem, maybe more frequent. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue somewhere, perhaps I got a bad battery. My warranty is expired so I can't RMA it.

I followed the holding power and volume button and it goes to "restart bootloader" then suddenly nexus shuts off within 5 sec itself. Some times it goes to "Power Off" option but my nexus 5 suddenly shuts down within 5 sec itself. I tried several different chargers including the "official" one that came with the phone, but won't work.

I'm running stock 5.1.1, kernel 3.4.0-gbebb36b, Build number LMY48B. The phone is rooted manually, no automatic trick.
Does randomly reboots means something? Is there a way to see what happens/what happened like an event viewer in Windows?
So for the past week I've had the strange problem of N5 randomly shutting down, but ONLY when my screen is on. if I'm listening to music, I can listen until my battery runs out, but if I'm looking up stuff or playing a game, it'll shut down after a few minutes at varying lengths of time(It's a sudden shutdown so my screen just goes black when I'm in the middle of something).
After it has shut itself down and I try to turn it on then it'll turn off after the boot animation and before the lock screen shows. If I want it back on then I can get it start up again if I have it connected to a charger until the lockscreen shows and it'll act like normal(besides the whole random shutdowns)after I unplug it. I also don't have this problem when it's plugged in.
I've tried changing roms, kernels, and flashing the stock firmware with no success. I'm currently on XTraSmooth(Lollipop) with ElementalX 4.04 kernel.
I didn't drop it or get it wet or anything, it was just sitting on my desk and it randomly shut off. I've tried shutting it off and on again but it just comes back to the google screen where it sits frozen for about 30ish+ minutes before it shuts off, I can't turn it off otherwise, if I try turning it off it just turns itself back on so I can't shut it off. Is there anything I can do to save my data (or even better, fix my phone) or am I screwed? I also don't have USB Debugging turned on so I can't get stuff back that way either. My phone is not rooted and running stock android 5.1.? (Don't remember my exact version but I think I've missed the last 2 minor updates)....
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've had my Nexus 6 for 3+ months and have had no problems until today when my phone would randomly reboot. Sometime it would come back on quickly and other times it would go through the long process of optimizing apps. The phone has had 2 OTA software updates since I purchased it so I decided to do a factory data reset.
I have not experienced any random reboots since the factory data reset but now I am unable to connect to WiFi. When I click on the WiFi in the quick setting menu, the phone is unable to identify any available networks. When I click on More Settings, the screen says Turning WiFi on but nothing ever happens.

I've got this issue for about two or three days now. Quite often, when I take a picture with stock Google camera app, my Nexus turns off instantly. Then, when I try to turn it on again, it often turns off again in about one minute and usually it shows almost empty battery (even though before shutdown it was nearly full).
First it has appeared on stock rooted 4.4.4, the phone tried to boot like 10 times, so I erased cache and dalvik via TWRP, but then it didn't detect SIM card and showed unknown baseband. I solved it by flashing bootloader and radio.
Then, I installed a stock 5.1.1, rooted it again (I thought it would solve the issue), but the same problem with camera occurred. So, could it be hardware issue? How to debug it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, originally the problem was the phone's screen was going black straight after the Google logo, I had a hunch that it was a fault with just the screen as it was pretty badly smashed and seemed the phone was running in the background and you could get the backlight to come on. Then all of a sudden it would stop doing it and then start again intermittently.
I flashed to 6.0 to see if might be some random ROM error, but still exact same problems. Screen came back and then went again. So I grabbed a new screen and swapped out the part. Now at least I don't have a smashed screen and faulty digitizer.
Now the problem appears to be slightly worse. The phone gets to the Google logo again now but now it completely shuts down after it, but it still gets to fastboot! (Is fastboot stored on another chip than FW? If so that worries me.)
last year I dropped it and the front glass covering the LCD broke. As it didn't affected the digitizer (and I was running a bit low on money) I decided to don't replace it right away. The time passed and it keept working until (something like 10 or 11 months later) it started to shut down by itself, either it had 90% of battery or 15%. As the boot took a bit to complete it shuts down before it gets to the running OS. The only way to avoid this powering offs was to having it pluged in to the charger. At first I thought it was a bug or something like that, so I unrooted it and got the stock vanilla android. 5.1 I think it was by that time. It didn't solve the problem. When the Marshmallow update was available I installed it hoping it could fix the problem but it also didn't work. With two versions of the stock android not solving the problem I concluded it wasn't a software problem and began to think it could be something to do with the broken glass. Maybe it wasn't just the glass that got broken. I bought a replacement for the display and replaced it. But, well, it also didn't solve the problem.
Now I have a neat condition Nexus 5 that keeps shutting down everytime the screen is on for more than one or two minutes.
My nexus 5 running on marshmallow automatically shuts off its screen and no matter how much i press my power button screen doesn't turn on but all functions r working ( i mean i can attend calls by sliding blindly) at last i have to reboot my device by approximation....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Nexus 5 since it came out in 2013. Earlier this year I started having an issue in which the phone would just randomly shut off. I would power it back on and it would still have a lot of charge left.
At first, it was sporadic, but then it was gradually doing it more and more frequently (many, many times per day) until it was virtually unusable unless plugged it.
I ordered a new battery and replaced the old one and then the phone worked just fine again... up until a few weeks ago when it began doing it again, and it has been gradually doing it more and more frequently just like last time.
I've only had the new battery for about four months.
So last week I was off on March break with my family and I took several pictures Tuesday and Wednesday on my phone of my kids, even remember showing a few of them in the evenings to my wife. Realized I forgot to turn on "auto backup" to google drive (or whatever it's called) and turned that on at some point mid-week.
On Friday I went out with my son and snapped a few more pics, and realized all the pictures I had from Mon - Wed were gone. Not in the Gallery app, not in the Photos app, and now that I'm checking with a computer, I simply can't find them anywhere on the phone at all.
I certainly didn't go through each photo and select "Delete" or anything like that! Unless there was a delete all button that I somehow clicked accidentally (which would seem really odd) and deleted all photos from the camera itself (it's a new RMA'd camera so all I had were the photos from Mon-Wed).
I will lock my phone or it will 'sleep' after30 seconds of inactivity, but randomly the screen will wake up. This happens a billion times a day and its annoying because then it calls people or it opens apps and I just want to know how to fix that I've already tried looking for something in settings but I've found nothing.

The Chronus clock works ok, but the battery meter will randomly stop updating. The Accuweather wigdet will also stop. If I remove and re-add the Accuweather app, all I get is the "Loading" screen.
I am on a Nexus 6 on the T-Mo network. Currently running OS 5.1.1, build LYZ28J.
My Nexus sometimes randomly crashes and then has problems rebooting. I have factory reset the phone and even reverted fully to stock android. However, the problem persists. I have attached the logcat file pulled up to the crash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot the N5 in 2012 with 4.4.4 on loved it, no problems then. Then lollipop came along causing battery drain and random crashes. Waited for 5.1 hoping for fixes, installed it battery life improved but still crashed randomly. I put it down to the memory leak problem. I decided to downgrade. I downgraded back to kitkat 4.4.4 after unlocking the boot loader. Now I have random crashes running Kit Kat.
PS If I carry my USB battery pack around and keep phone plugged into it the phone never crashes. Its just not a very mobile phone then!!
I had the problem of random restarts after lollipop update (exactly afte rsometime i changed to pattern security )and i gave to service center and they told its OS issues and downgraded to 4.4.4. After that i installed all my apps in 4.4.4 (standard apps like banking, skype etc..) and used it for a while. when i tried to use screen lock as "Pin" this rebooting issue starting again? I managed to change it to "Swipe" and did wipe cache partition, and till now (for last 45mins atleast) its running okay.

Yesterday my phone randomly stopped being able to use its 4G, so even though it shows that I have full bars I can't connect to the internet using my data AND it seems as though I'm not receiving text messages. When I try to make normal calls, an automated voice tells me that something has been "deactivated".
I haven't reached my data use limit yet (not even by half!), my bill for this month is already long since paid, and I haven't downloaded/done anything that seems like it could have led to this. I've tried a couple of other fix-it methods but non seem to work.
I have a Nexus 5 32gb for 1 year and 3 months. Since last week my cellphone starts to ring randomly (the ringtone of my alarm) with no notification on screen. It only goes off if I press hold or pressing the screen if it is unlocked. I have put all volumes to zero, set the priority to No interruptions but it still rings randomly (my house, my class, everywhere).

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 3GS shuts down randomly everyday during use. Plenty of battery (more than 50% at the lowest). It just goes black. And there is a strange vertical banding in the black dead screen. Restarting begins working, apple logo appears, but after a long wait it just quits again and goes black. Again, there is plenty of battery charge, this can happen on a full charge. Have tried hard-restarting by pressing power and home with the same result. Only when I have plugged it into a power source does it boot. It can then be disconnected immediately and used for hours, or until it crashes again.
This often happens with angry birds (any version) but that's just because I play it too much, it can also happen using apple apps like mail
I purchased a new 16gb AT&T iPhone4s a few days ago and today when I went to use my phone I noticed it had turned off by itself. The only way I was able to power it back on was to hold the home and power buttons at the same time. I did a lot of research on the problem and saw that if the Diagnostics had a panic.plist that there are hardware errors or failures involved.
So I looked at my diagnostics and can confirm there are two logs with the panic.plist header. panic(cpu 0 caller 0x8007617c):lck_mtx)lock():mutex (0x9B5A2820): 0x000080000. The phone came preinstalled with OS 5.1.
So I am here to ask if this is a case where I have no choice but to replace my phone... From everything I've read it seems to be the case, but I've only had the phone for a few days and would be really upset if this were the case. I gave Apple a call and they said to basically not worry about it unless it happens again... but after doing the research it has just got me more worried.
