Google Nexus 5 :: After 5.1 Phone Shuts Off When Playing Games?
Mar 31, 2015I got the update, now, when I play any game, the phone doesn't reboot, it plain shuts down..

View 2 RepliesIt usually happens when I'm playing a very graphic intense game. Annoying enough... But last night I noticed it getting hot and I was just surfing the web!? The screen is approaching too hot to touch temperature! I drilled a big long slit in my case to let it breathe better. And I have a tempered glass screen protector.
View 10 Replies View RelatedLike I'll be using it and then it will just shut off and then when I boot it back up, it says the battery is very low or it shuts off during bootup! It would shut off at like 80% or other random percents! It has been doing this for a month, but it's gotten much worse! I can't even have it unplugged for 10 or 15 minutes without it doing this! Also the 5.1 update didn't even work.
View 13 Replies View RelatedIt will randomly crash, normally when I'm switching in between apps or opening apps. It shuts down without any notification, screen just goes blank. About 50% of the time I have to boot it up connected to the USB power cord or it will just crash again in the same fashion once the OS is loaded. Battery charge is at the same percent pre and post crash. I've downgraded to Kitkat as well as upgraded to the newest Lollipop 5.1, factory resets, and clearing cache. Currently on 5.1 and rooted. Same problem. I bought a battery from a questionable eBay seller and after installing am having the same problem, maybe more frequent. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue somewhere, perhaps I got a bad battery. My warranty is expired so I can't RMA it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving issue since last night. Battery was 60% approximately. I followed the holding power and volume button and it goes to "restart bootloader" then suddenly nexus shuts off within 5 sec itself. Some times it goes to "Power Off" option but my nexus 5 suddenly shuts down within 5 sec itself. I tried several different chargers including the "official" one that came with the phone, but won't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs that normal? I'd think that Google can just disable the camera when battery is low, instead of forcibly shutting down the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter the 5.1.1 OTA update my phone randomly shuts off (like pulling the plug off an appliance). I already did the factory reset and it still has this problem.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo, originally the problem was the phone's screen was going black straight after the Google logo, I had a hunch that it was a fault with just the screen as it was pretty badly smashed and seemed the phone was running in the background and you could get the backlight to come on. Then all of a sudden it would stop doing it and then start again intermittently.
I flashed to 6.0 to see if might be some random ROM error, but still exact same problems. Screen came back and then went again. So I grabbed a new screen and swapped out the part. Now at least I don't have a smashed screen and faulty digitizer.
Now the problem appears to be slightly worse. The phone gets to the Google logo again now but now it completely shuts down after it, but it still gets to fastboot! (Is fastboot stored on another chip than FW? If so that worries me.)
last year I dropped it and the front glass covering the LCD broke. As it didn't affected the digitizer (and I was running a bit low on money) I decided to don't replace it right away. The time passed and it keept working until (something like 10 or 11 months later) it started to shut down by itself, either it had 90% of battery or 15%. As the boot took a bit to complete it shuts down before it gets to the running OS. The only way to avoid this powering offs was to having it pluged in to the charger. At first I thought it was a bug or something like that, so I unrooted it and got the stock vanilla android. 5.1 I think it was by that time. It didn't solve the problem. When the Marshmallow update was available I installed it hoping it could fix the problem but it also didn't work. With two versions of the stock android not solving the problem I concluded it wasn't a software problem and began to think it could be something to do with the broken glass. Maybe it wasn't just the glass that got broken. I bought a replacement for the display and replaced it. But, well, it also didn't solve the problem.
Now I have a neat condition Nexus 5 that keeps shutting down everytime the screen is on for more than one or two minutes.
My nexus 5 running on marshmallow automatically shuts off its screen and no matter how much i press my power button screen doesn't turn on but all functions r working ( i mean i can attend calls by sliding blindly) at last i have to reboot my device by approximation....

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy new Nexus 6, but I'm noticing an issue with my custom notification ringtones or sounds. I have a custom Ringtone for my Calls, that plays fine, but the Notifications for my Voicemail and Texts is not playing or Plays once the first time, then defaults back to the barely audible notification sound on the N6.
I wiped cache partition and did a factory reset before setting up the phone after the final OTA of 6.0 the day I received the phone. I'm going to try to wipe Cache Partition once again, because I saw in another Notification thread to try it.

Just got a new 6P from Google. I have it unlocked and TWRP installed, but no rooted just yet. Loading everything up on the phone, and I've come across an odd issue. I loaded my 1500 or so songs from my Samsung S5 to the 6P, and Google player only sees some of the songs. All the ones I bought from Amazon and some other random ones I'd ripped from our CD collection. Rocket Player sees them all, but won't play any but the ones Google Player plays. Tried some other music apps, but similar results.
I deleted all the songs, put them back in different folders, wiped the cache on Google Play and Rocket, booted the phone. I used ES File Explorer to go to individual albums and try to play the songs direct from there, but still does not work. I get "Couldn't play the track you selected".
Google search said to nuke all the music and go into Apps>Media and clear the storage, but that is not an option under Apps on this phone. Doesn't really seem like that kind of issue anyway, since it will play some of the songs.
Do I contact LG or Google? My touchscreen keyboard doesn't work and when I try to navigate the slide bar for playing music it acts like nothing has been pressed. So obviously I want replacement, it's been around 8 months or so since I bought the phone.
View 2 Replies View Relatedso I'm not sure who uses Google Play Music here but for those who do, do you find annoying that it doesn't continuously play that artist you've selected? For example I like certain bands and it'll play music like them to start off with, but it won't play them continuously song after song after song.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am a new android user, so up until now I have been using itunes as my main source for organizing and playing music files. I don't want to use Google Play Music. What is the next best alternative to putting music on my phone so I can listen on the go?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there any apps that work to increase headphone volume, playing through google music, EQ enabled and its very quiet.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI have the craziest damn bug you've ever heard... I have a ringtone that plays when a call comes in, answer the phone - the ringtone turns off, as expected. However, after I hang up, the ringtone will continue to play. I can adjust the volume, but since it's a ringtone, I don't know of an app to open to change it, other than opening my phone, calling voicemail, hang up, and still the ringtone persists (good thing I like the song — Brian Setzer and Jeff Beck's version of "Twenty Flight Rock".)
Powering off the phone is the only thing that can make it work and it seems to occur more often when the phone is charging (charged?) and plugged in (vs Qi charging).
I have N5 with latest Marshmallow updates (November 2015) rooted with ElementalX kernel installed. I have a very strange issue that while playing any local (not streaming) audio file, it plays with double or triple of its speed.
I used several apps to make sure it's not application based issue, the same occurs.
I switched from Samsung. There is a function with Samsung customized version of Android that when I play video full screen and hit on/off button, the screen is locked but video keeps playing. That is a really useful function.
Any 3rd party app that can do the same?
I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I woke up to my phone on a boot loop on the Google Logo. I have no custom roms or mods on it other than I am running ART. I suspect it could be battery related as it will only seem to do this on the charger but when I don't have it plugged in it won't even start up. When it's plugged in it won't even seem to want to stay "off", it boots up to the google logo on its own. If I hold down the volume rocker I can get into the bootloader but it resets before I can select anything and boots right back into the google logo.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI know you can do this with smart pairing of Bluetooth devices but I was hoping to be able to do the same for when I'm playing music through my car's auxiliary jack / over the phone's speakers. I've done a fair bit of googling but haven't found a solution. I use llama app on my phone to trigger events and have tried setting a trigger using the music app to trigger the screen lock to disable but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if it's feasible to somehow trigger screen lock to be disabled when a music app is active?
