My old Nexus 5 (vanilla 5.1.1 not rooted) is malfunctioning. There is no sound coming from the speaker in the bottom of the phone and the microphone is not picking up any sound when making a normal call and/or recording a video. The speaker at the top of the phone however, is working. So I hear people in phone calls, but they do not hear me.Now to the strange part: If I change to the loud speaker while in a call it's the opposite; I can not hear them but they can hear me.If I connect headphones into the headphone jack I can hear sound both in calls and in video playback.
So to summarize:
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds): No sound
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds) with headphones: Sound working
Recording video: No sound recorded
Making a phone call: Sound but no microphone
Making a phone call with loudspeaker on: No sound but microphone working
Making a phone call with handsfree connected: Not tested (I have no headphones with mic).
And what's even more strange is that I just replaced the flex cable with the microphone and charging dock and also the entire speaker with new parts from eBay. And guess what... it's still not working!!!
I use the speaker on my N6 to listen to approx 4 hours of podcasts daily. In the past week, when I start a podcast, the speaker is nice & loud, then in approx 10 seconds it starts to lower until I can still hear it, but it's too low. If I hit Pause, then Start, it's loud again for 10 seconds. YouTube has same problem. Volume settings are at max.
I called support and went into Safe Mode and ran a video on YouTube, same thing. I factory reset the phone and before installing my podcast player (BeyondPod) I played a video and the volume started loud & then lowered.
I purchased the phone directly from Google and have a Sprint sim in it. Ver 5.1...
I received my Nexus 6 from Amazon. It seems as though the top speaker is considerably louder than the bottom. When I flip the phone upside down, it is still the top speaker that is louder.
When I turn the phone to landscape mode, it is the right speaker that it louder. I flip the orientation to where the former right speaker is now the left and vice versa. It's the same problem where the right speaker (the former left speaker) is still louder.
My nexus 5 was good with no problem before the update, and even 1 day after.
The problem started on yesterday, when suddenly the speaker didn't work. Tried to switch on and off the volume, and sometimes it does come back! But most of the time it silent.
How to keep the phone speaker on all the time? Probably 95% of my calls, I use the speaker. Would be nice not to have to reach up and turn the speaker on.
I am having problems with the combination of radio apps (e.g. TuneIn, CBC Radio, NPR), and a Bluetooth speaker (Blackweb SoundPebble). The apps work fine and will play through the Nexus 5 speakers or headphones when no Bluetooth speaker is connected. However, when I connect a Bluetooth speaker, the apps do not work - they don't get past the title screen. The Bluetooth speaker works OK with locally stored files e.g. music saved to the device.
I have the iPhone 4 and was doing face time and also calling a land line. When using face time or using the speaker phone on land line calls, the person on the other end is not able to hear me.When using the phone in regular mode others have no problem hearing me (non-speaker phone).
My 4S microphone is fine when making a normal call, ie holding it to my ear or using headphones, but when I take it away and use the speaker for a call or Facetime I literally have to scream at the phone from 1 inch to be heard!
My Normal Microphone is working fine on normal calls but when using speaker phone. Also when using APPS like Fring or Viber. Microphone doesn't work have to use headset.
I've just purchased a new Vivaz and it appears that the speaker and microphone sound distorted. All my conversations sound distorted to other listeners. I've tried using Rogers support to reset but it still remains the same. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is this just the quality of the phone itself.
the speaker works as long as it isn't turned up to the highest option, then it becomes crackly. The microphone works, but you have to talk softly or be far away for the sound to be unmuffled. Headphones work perfectly. I know Apple doesn't cover water damage, so what can I do to save my phone?
When I make calls and recieve calls, no sound comes from the earpiece at the top, the volume level is maxed out and nothing. Then when I go and press the speaker it works. The phone is only 1 week old... the only thing installed is battery doctor
I opened the box, and really liked the form factor, screen, etc.I was making a call and I plugged the headphones in suddenly the person could not hear me.I tried everything, but it seems that neither the internal microphone or the headphones can give the N1 any sound.Except if I yell directly into the phone/mic.Also, I tried to have them send me a new one and I'll return the old one, but they could only offer me a refurbished handset.I'm close to just returning the phone and forgetting android. What do you all suggest?
Sometimes when i click microphone on google search, i get "Can't open microphone" error. First i tought it's about google app but it is not. When i tried to call a friend on Viber he couldn't hear me and i realized it is about all applications which uses internet. To be sure, then, i tried to record voice on Facebook Messenger, microphone didn't work.On skype didn't work.
Then,i called somebody on gsm network, microphone worked. I tried to record my voice on local application, microphone worked.Again, i tried all applications which uses internet, no luck.
After some minutes microphone acts normally.I mean it works everywhere. I couldn't understand when it works normally or according to what.
When i have this case, killing all apps and reboot phone not working.
Oddity is that my friend had Sony Z3, she has same issue.Microphone sometimes works sometimes doesn't work. So, i started think that maybe one app that we both have, always occupy the microphone and doesn't let another applications to use it. But why i can make calls on gsm network or record voice on local apps. Maybe they have higher priority on using microphone(?).
It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Now, i did a list of apps which uses microphone and i will try to delete or force stop one by one when i have this issue.
Another friend who has Sony Z3 has exactly same issue. So far, 1xGalaxy S6, 2xSony Z3
I have a Droid Turbo. Sometime today the little microphone button on my home page has stopped working when pressed. It only happens on my homepages on the phone, so if I tap on Google and bring up the browser page or then I can tap on the microphone and talk.
If I'm on the Home Screen; however, I can press it again and again and it is totally unresponsive. I have tried:
-turning the phone off and on again, - going onto home-screen settings and turning google search on and off - downloaded a anti-virus program suggested by a friend with the same phone and done searches.
This may seem like a rather small issue, but I use that microphone button a lot when using my phone.
My Nexus 5, with default Google Keyboard, has stopped showing word suggestions. It used to work but doesn't anymore. The keyboard is not set to the same language as the system language.
For months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.
Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.
I'm sure many of you have heard that when you enter an incorrect pattern/PIN/password, eventually the phone asks for Google account credentials to unlock it. My Nexus 5 on 5.1.0 does not do this. Does yours? If my lock screen is set to PIN, I can enter as many incorrect attempts as I want, it never asks and never stops me. If I have a pattern set it will let me enter 10 incorrect attempts after which it simply stops me from trying for 30s, but it never asks for Google account credentials.
I'm running Cataclysm ROM (the Sept. 10 beta), Franco kernel, and I'm rooted and use Xposed. I receive this error when I try to add a card in Android Pay: "Android Pay cannot be used: Google is unable to verify that your device of the software running on it is Android compatible". I tried disabling root entirely and using RootCloak (Xposed) to hide root from Android Pay and Google Wallet, but I still can't use Pay. Wallet still works as it always has.
Experiencing super low microphone volume when using hangout calls on speakerphone/video calls? The other person i'm calling says they can barely hear me.
