Google Nexus 5 :: No Speaker Or Microphone
Aug 29, 2015My old Nexus 5 (vanilla 5.1.1 not rooted) is malfunctioning.There is no sound coming from the speaker in the bottom of the phone and the microphone is not picking up any sound when making a normal call and/or recording a video.The speaker at the top of the phone however, is working. So I hear people in phone calls, but they do not hear me.Now to the strange part: If I change to the loud speaker while in a call it's the opposite; I can not hear them but they can hear me.If I connect headphones into the headphone jack I can hear sound both in calls and in video playback.
So to summarize:
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds): No sound
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds) with headphones: Sound working
Recording video: No sound recorded
Making a phone call: Sound but no microphone
Making a phone call with loudspeaker on: No sound but microphone working
Making a phone call with handsfree connected: Not tested (I have no headphones with mic).
And what's even more strange is that I just replaced the flex cable with the microphone and charging dock and also the entire speaker with new parts from eBay. And guess what... it's still not working!!!

Jan 31, 2016After struggling to get microphone to work on phone calls, I did a complete wipe and flashed the latest stock factory image.
I'm still having this issue. It's on both hangouts dialer and phone app.
When I use a voice recording app, microphone works. Google Now "OK Google" does not work though. I'm perplexed how to resolve this issue.

Oct 11, 2015At home, I am running IPFire firewall + OpenDSN and it block access by IP and has excessive filtering.
After upgrade to new Android OS my phone displays no internet option but I can browse websites without any problems with my data turned off.
Which URL or IP address nexus 5 uses in order to check for network connection.
I have 4 nexus 5 phones. all connected to the same N network, two phones updated to OS 6 and two running OS 5. on nexus 5 phone, regular wifi icon on nexus 6 phones wifi icon and exclamation mark.

May 3, 2014Any former iPhone users or even other Samsung users know the email app? You actually get the number of new emails displayed ON the app.
Nexus doesn't have this feature? I turn on notifications and I get a little letter envelop in the top status bar but that's it.
Google Nexus 5 :: Icon On Top Of Phone Keeps Changing From LTE
Nov 28, 2014Got a used, but mint N5 the other day, stock unrooted running 4.4.4. Popped in my AT&T LG G2 SIM, and all was good for a day. Today, i've noticed that the icon on the top of the phone keeps changing from LTE, to H, and sometimes to NO SERVICE, although the last one changes back after a few seconds. Is this normal, or should i get the SIM card replaced? I live in a 4G LTE area, and never had this problem with the LG G2. Maybe it's a setting issue within the phone? i truly love this phone. The only app that i've put on this phone is Light Flow, just to change the color and speed of the notifications.

I'm rooted with the stock ROM and Trinity Kernel (which I think may be the culprit, I'm not going to read 1,000 responses on a thread in a different forum to find out). To my problem: whenever the phone is off and plugged in my laptop's USB port or the travel/wall charger, the initial charging icon that shows the battery's level does not disappear. Even when I have unplugged the charger, the icon stays until I boot up the phone.

So, after that, I got stuck at Google logo screen. I entered stock recovery (I never installed a custom recovery) and wiped cache, with no luck. Did a data wipe. No luck. So I tried flashing the factory image for Android 5.0, but right after flashing the bootloader, the device turned off (or it appeared to), the script showed "waiting for device", and the phone never came back. Apr 27, 2015Is there a way to enable the dial pad to show up instead of favorites when you click the telephone icon?
All of my other android phones I could either dial by name as in spell it out using the alpha buttons or if I wanted to call my wife and her number is ie. 614-555-5555 I could dial 0067 on the pad and it was the only number with that combo and pop her name up. Now I have to dial 6145555 and it pops her name up. Is there a way to change this??
I came from a Moto RZR Maxx, went to the Samsung s6 (dialer worked great but no data and voice at the same time) Now to the nexus6...

When I turn on call-forwarding I can see the call-forwarding icon on the notification area.
If I then turn off the phone and turn it back on again, the call forwarding is still on obviously (it's on the carrier level) but the icon does not show it.
I keep forgetting the call-forwarding is on and i lose calls.Is it a known bug? Anything I can do about it?

May 14, 2010I opened the box, and really liked the form factor, screen, etc.I was making a call and I plugged the headphones in suddenly the person could not hear me.I tried everything, but it seems that neither the internal microphone or the headphones can give the N1 any sound.Except if I yell directly into the phone/mic.Also, I tried to have them send me a new one and I'll return the old one, but they could only offer me a refurbished handset.I'm close to just returning the phone and forgetting android. Sep 10, 2015Sometimes when i click microphone on google search, i get "Can't open microphone" error. First i tought it's about google app but it is not.When i tried to call a friend on Viber he couldn't hear me and i realized it is about all applications which uses internet.To be sure, then, i tried to record voice on Facebook Messenger, microphone didn't work.On skype didn't work.
Then,i called somebody on gsm network, microphone worked. I tried to record my voice on local application, microphone worked.Again, i tried all applications which uses internet, no luck.
After some minutes microphone acts normally.I mean it works everywhere. I couldn't understand when it works normally or according to what.
When i have this case, killing all apps and reboot phone not working.
Oddity is that my friend had Sony Z3, she has same issue.Microphone sometimes works sometimes doesn't work. So, i started think that maybe one app that we both have, always occupy the microphone and doesn't let another applications to use it. But why i can make calls on gsm network or record voice on local apps. Maybe they have higher priority on using microphone(?).
It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Now, i did a list of apps which uses microphone and i will try to delete or force stop one by one when i have this issue.
Another friend who has Sony Z3 has exactly same issue. So far, 1xGalaxy S6, 2xSony Z3

Dec 7, 2015I have a Droid Turbo. Sometime today the little microphone button on my home page has stopped working when pressed. It only happens on my homepages on the phone, so if I tap on Google and bring up the browser page or then I can tap on the microphone and talk.
If I'm on the Home Screen; however, I can press it again and again and it is totally unresponsive. I have tried:
-turning the phone off and on again,
- going onto home-screen settings and turning google search on and off
- downloaded a anti-virus program suggested by a friend with the same phone and done searches.
This may seem like a rather small issue, but I use that microphone button a lot when using my phone.
