After I updated my nexus 5 (same problem in nexus 6) to Android marshmallow, there is an exclamation sign beside my wifi and celluar data icon which says the connection has no internet! But I have internet connection and its okay!

The wifi network I am connected to uses a manual proxy . . .
I can switch off mobile networking and wifi works and vice versa.
In my signal bar I am getting and exclamation mark there occasionally. What does this mean?
View 10 Replies View RelatedSince the 5.1 update my Nexus 6 on Sprint loses a connection a few times per day. I get an exclamation point. I have read this is specific to users of Sprint and T-mobile. I use Sprint. To correct this.. rather than restart the phone I activate airplane mode for a couple seconds. I was REALLY hoping that the 5.1.1 update would correct this. Nope. I have seen posts for this on the Google forum, but so far no solutions or solid reasons why it only affects Sprint and T-mobile devices. As I stated before.. this started AFTER the 5.1 update.

Everything went fine, up until I got to flash boot "fastboot flash boot C:image-hammerhead-krt16mboot.img" after that, the phone went into a boot loop for a couple of times, then, the droid with the red exclamation symbol appeared. I went to recovery, wiped data and cache. Which should fix it (right?)?
I can't go to fastboot to start over, nor anything for that matter.
My phone says its connected to wifi but it does not act like it is.

However, when I move about 2 rooms away the exclamation mark disappears, my wifi signal drops abit but I get activity. I had the Xperia ZR before this one and the was no connectivity issues...

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have google nexus 5 32gb and recently i my phone has started behaving very weird. My phone batter died and it switched off and after a few moments when i reached home i plugged in a charger and my phone wont show me charging sign nor it will turn up so i left it on charge for a couple of hours and returned to try the same switching on method and still it wont turn on. So started googling this problem and i came across a forum where it showed me to hard booth by pressing the volume down and power button.
Magically it did not work for me so i made an appoint to go and see LG Service Store and suddenly my phone turned on so i thought the problem was solved untill it happened again and again and again so now if my phone switches off i am not very sure if it would turn back on. As this is a very random problem and i am unable to solve it while the phone is on and if i charge it before the battery reaches the critical levels and shuts on its own i am just fine.
What can be the issue as battery works the whole day of medium to low use and also other hardware happens to function well without any hanging complaints. Also my phone randomly switches off if i am playing some game as it gets heated and the same story of phone not booting.
Whenever I lose WiFi (like when I leave home) I get an exclamation sign next to my cellular network strength symbol and a prompt to sign in to my cellular network which I can't resolve. I can make calls but I can't get any cellular data. This started happening when I updated to the latest Android 6.0. I've checked the APN and it's correct.

I changed the password in the Android Mail App (yellow icon) on my Nexus 5 and I can send and receive emails ok. however, every time I go into the App for this address I see the message "Can't sign In". Everything seems to be working fine though so I am not sure the relevance of this message of what I do to get rid of it.

permanently get rid of this exclamation icon? I know it's sort of 'leftover' from the symbols but why does it hang around? The battery has been removed and replaced after a decent interval.... it went away and then came back.....a factory reset was done.... it went away then came back.....then the phone was exchanged....it's a new phone now AND IT STILL COMES BACK.

After upgrade to new Android OS my phone displays no internet option but I can browse websites without any problems with my data turned off.

I have 4 nexus 5 phones. all connected to the same N network, two phones updated to OS 6 and two running OS 5. on nexus 5 phone, regular wifi icon on nexus 6 phones wifi icon and exclamation mark.
Any former iPhone users or even other Samsung users know the email app? You actually get the number of new emails displayed ON the app.
Nexus doesn't have this feature? I turn on notifications and I get a little letter envelop in the top status bar but that's it.
Got a used, but mint N5 the other day, stock unrooted running 4.4.4. Popped in my AT&T LG G2 SIM, and all was good for a day. Today, i've noticed that the icon on the top of the phone keeps changing from LTE, to H, and sometimes to NO SERVICE, although the last one changes back after a few seconds. Is this normal, or should i get the SIM card replaced? I live in a 4G LTE area, and never had this problem with the LG G2. Maybe it's a setting issue within the phone? i truly love this phone. The only app that i've put on this phone is Light Flow, just to change the color and speed of the notifications.

I assume it's from a fairly recent app download but I can't figure out which one and I have lots, do not want to delete them all trying to find out....

I'm rooted with the stock ROM and Trinity Kernel (which I think may be the culprit, I'm not going to read 1,000 responses on a thread in a different forum to find out). To my problem: whenever the phone is off and plugged in my laptop's USB port or the travel/wall charger, the initial charging icon that shows the battery's level does not disappear. Even when I have unplugged the charger, the icon stays until I boot up the phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased the Moto X second edition unlocked pure version,from Motorola web site.For a month I was able to run on KitKat without any issues. After I have upgraded to Lollipop (5.0) I am seeing an exclamation point next to the data icon. Sometimes it takes a minute sometimes maybe 5 minutes to be able to use my data plan and access the internet!
There were situations when I could not even make a call. When switching to WIFi mode I am able to use the phone to full capability. It is just when I am trying to use my carrier's network when I have a problem. It is not related to the amount of data available, it reacts the same when I am at 100mba or 4 Gba.
I set up my phone yesterday and within a short period of time my free 500mb monthly data was gone and then my credit was going down being charged for any more data usage. I would like to figure this out soon or I'll be charged £1 per day for any data I use or use unknowingly.
I would like to restrict background data but when I select 'Restrict background data', within seconds I get a notification saying
"Background data restricted. Touch to remove restriction" ...
And an exclamation mark icon remains at the top left of my screen. Is this normal? Is there a way to clear the notification and the exclamation mark while also keeping 'Restrict background data' on? The only way I can clear the notification and get rid of the exclamation mark at the top of my screen is by tapping on the notification but then background data is no longer restricted. I cannot swipe the notification away and the clear all is not there either.
Even though I've got Enable Widgets unticked on the security settings of the phone, I still get a Camera icon in the bottom right corner of the lock-screen. This means people could pick up the phone and add pictures (and also so far this morning I've taken a photo of the side of my leg as I've taken the phone out of a pocket).
View 8 Replies View RelatedToday I tried to sideload the OTA update to Android 5.0.1 (because my Nexus is root and it would not let me update normally), but there was an error saying missing file in system.img. So, after that, I got stuck at Google logo screen. I entered stock recovery (I never installed a custom recovery) and wiped cache, with no luck. Did a data wipe. No luck. So I tried flashing the factory image for Android 5.0, but right after flashing the bootloader, the device turned off (or it appeared to), the script showed "waiting for device", and the phone never came back. Now it won't turn on at all. I don't know what to do ...
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Xperia Z5 quite often displays an exclamation mark next to the wifi symbol when I'm connected to my home broadband. I've googled this and it seems that this indicates that my phone is not connected to Google servers when it is displayed.
This seems to be the case as Gmail, for example, shows as no connection when the exclamation is displayed. To rectify I have to turn wifi off and back on again.
I have a fibre broadband connection so I can't understand why the phone does this when all other devices in the house work fine.
